Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 385: Coordinated Scam

Under Lotusʼs urgent summons, the remaining six suspects gathered in the room where Lin Yu and Fu Luo were.

The originally quite spacious room suddenly felt a bit crowded.

Li Hua and Good Night stood by the door like two guardian deities, with Lotus positioned not far from them, ready to assist.

The rest of the people were evenly distributed around the room, by the sofa, in front of the cabinet, and on the bed.

Phoenix crossed her arms over her chest: ”Calling all of us together like this doesnʼt seem like itʼs for a second round of questioning... Have you already found the murderer?”

Fu Luo nodded: ”Of course, everyone. We called you here precisely for this matter.”

Seagull rubbed his hands together: ”Gathering all the suspects together and then announcing the real culprit... Thatʼs so full of ceremony, just like Detective Conan!”

Lin Yu shook his head: ”We didnʼt call you all here for the ceremony. Itʼs because the number of culprits... or rather, ʼaccomplices,ʼ is not just one.”

”Just like the case designed in one of my favorite detective novels, *Murder on the Orient Express*,” Fu Luo picked up Lin Yuʼs words, cleared his throat, and announced the answer, ”All of you... are the murderers!”

As his words fell, the expressions of these six people changed in unison.
Phoenix slightly frowned, Hundred-Tempered Steel cursed under his breath, Paper Kite looked up at the ceiling, Bright King appeared somewhat surprised, and Chris spat.

Seagullʼs reaction was the most intense.

”What? This accusation is too much!”

”You suspect all six of us at the same time?! Even if you are from ʼOrder,ʼ you canʼt make such baseless accusations!”

Seagull spoke, sounding quite indignant.

Lin Yu shook his head: ”Not you. Itʼs the other five.”

Seagull was stunned.

”Huh... How can this be so sloppy? Youʼre not just bluffing, are you?”

Chris also spoke up: ”You from ʼOrder,ʼ we come from different organizations, some of us even have conflicting stances. Why would we conspire to do this?”

Lin Yu seemed to have anticipated someone would ask this and spoke unhurriedly.

”During the interrogations, apart from that Seagull over there, most of you shared a common trait.”

”You didnʼt seem in a hurry to prove your own innocence, nor did you point out othersʼ suspicious points.”

”It was as if you had quietly reached some kind of consensus.”

Phoenix spoke coldly: ”Thatʼs just your subjective speculation. Just because we didnʼt accuse others, does that mean we are accomplices?”

Bright King also chimed in: ”Thatʼs right, thatʼs not very rigorous... Donʼt you think so, Gambler?”

He even bypassed Fu Luo and Lin Yu, looking directly at Li Hua.

Li Hua adjusted his glasses: ”This case is under the full authority of ʼMay Mayʼ and ʼFurbollo.ʼ”

Fu Luo looked at Bright King.

”Appealing wonʼt help. Of course, we have evidence... Because although you all seem unrelated to each other, your only point of intersection happens to be the victim of this case—Radish.”

”I admit I had grievances with him, but Iʼve already explained,” Phoenix said calmly, ”I had no intention of killing him... And besides me and Hundred-Tempered Steel, the others here had almost no interaction with him.”

”But you all joined the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association,ʼ I mean, in the past,” Lin Yu said calmly. ”The reason you and Hundred-Tempered Steel had what could be called ʼhatredʼ with Radish is because your loved ones and close friends died in the same dungeon as him.”

”But... why were your loved ones and close friends with him in that dungeon? Of course, itʼs because they were members of the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Associationʼ at that time, just like you were.”

”Itʼs the same for Chris, Paper Kite, and Bright King over there.”

”You may not have had direct contact with ʼRadish,ʼ but you all witnessed the most glorious period of the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association.ʼ”

Lin Yu shook his phone: ”Or rather, a considerable portion of the players who can now reach the ʼThird Tier,ʼ due to their seniority, have witnessed that ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association.ʼ”

”Do I need to log into the app to check your post records from back then?”

”Letʼs skip that,” Chris interrupted Lin Yu, ”But as you said, probably half of the veteran players joined the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association,ʼ so why is it specifically the five of us?”

”At least me, Bright King, and Paper Kite absolutely have no motive to kill Radish.”

Fu Luo wagged his finger: ”Let me correct you. According to the definition in criminal psychology, motives for murder are divided into profit motive, sexual motive, revenge motive, escape and fear motive, political motive, and psychopathic killing.”

”You just donʼt have a revenge motive. And if you three were involved, it could be perfectly explained by profit motive, political motive, or psychopathic killing.”

Lin Yu added: ”And thatʼs talking about the situation of ʼmurderʼ... If you were just acting as ʼaccomplicesʼ and ʼco-conspirators,ʼ then your motives become even clearer... Reliability alone is enough.”

”The mastermind behind the scenes found you, used your feelings for the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association,ʼ and combined with various other factors, that was enough to make you qualified accomplices.”

”For example, promising you actual benefits. In Bright Kingʼs case, he might have just come simply to help Phoenix... As for Paper Kite, it might have even just taken some simple persuasion.”

Paper Kite awkwardly raised his hand: ”Donʼt make it sound like Iʼm a born psychopathic killer. I admit Iʼm a bit abnormal, but I think Iʼm far from being a sociopath.”

”I was a serious member of ʼOrderʼ for over a year, how could I just go kill someone after being talked into it!”

Lin Yu nodded: ”Indeed, but... the charge Iʼm accusing you of isnʼt murder. As I said, you are an accomplice.”

Paper Kite frowned: ”Even if itʼs assisting in murder, I wouldnʼt help out so easily.”

”So what you assisted wasnʼt murder either,” Lin Yu let out a sigh, ”All five of you are accomplices, but only accomplices. None of you are the real murderer or the mastermind.”

Phoenix looked at Lin Yu: ”An interesting claim. But tell us, who is the real culprit?”

”Who could convince us to do all this?”

Lin Yu sighed:

”So, your only point of connection is the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association,ʼ that former ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Association.ʼ”

”The one who decided all this, who persuaded you, is naturally the sole surviving elder from that era of the ʼPlayer Mutual Aid Associationʼ...”

”Which is none other than ʼRadishʼ himself.”

Lin Yu said calmly. Seagull laughed: ”What a joke! Suicide again? How could a veteran player like Radish possibly commit suicide!”

Good Night also rubbed his hair and smiled helplessly: ”Shit, we just confirmed the last one was a fake suicide... and now a real suicide pops up? Are you kidding?”

But judging from the unanimous silence of the remaining five, Good Nightʼs expression gradually turned serious.

”For real? Real suicide? Thatʼs impossible!”

”Itʼs not the ʼPsychological Societyʼ messing around again, is it?”

Lin Yu shook his head: ”No, itʼs not. The crime Iʼve been accusing them of as ʼaccomplicesʼ from start to finish is not ʼassisting in murder.ʼ”

”Itʼs ʼcollaborative fraud.ʼ”

”This group of people, under Radishʼs instructions, collaborated to disguise the time and cause of Radishʼs death, creating a deception intended to fool everyone.”

”Making his original natural or accidental death... look like a murder that occurred on the eve of the auction.”
