Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 371: Disadvantaged Situation and Game Strategy

Lin Yu didnʼt ask questions like ”who is the murderer,” because the other party had clearly hinted multiple times that if he asked that, he would answer.

He also didnʼt ask foolish and imprecise questions like ”what is your identity” or ”what is your name.”

If the other party asked him that... Lin Yu had many ways to answer directly—and the effect would be even better than not answering.

Lin Yu was too adept at ”deceiving with the truth.”

So... to minimize the other partyʼs potential for deception, Lin Yu needed to ask more precisely.

But he also didnʼt ask things like ”real name” or ”social ID”...

”Real name” could have duplicates. If the other guy was named something like Zhang Wei or Li Qiang, hearing Lin Yuʼs question would probably make him laugh his head off.

”Social ID” wasnʼt very reliable either... even if he knew it, he might not be able to pinpoint the otherʼs identity.

In China, however, there just happened to be a magical little number that was unique, could precisely lock onto each personʼs identity, and directly obtain a wealth of information including real name, place of origin, address, ethnicity, and age.

It was the perfect question for this occasion.
Sure enough, upon hearing Lin Yuʼs question, the Masked Man Consultant across from him visibly stiffened.

”Truly... remarkable. I need to reassess you.”

As the other spoke, Lin Yu made a ”go ahead” gesture.

”Then, state your national ID number.”

The Masked Man fell silent again, shaking his head after a moment. ”How could I possibly give that to you? You draw a card.”

This was, of course, inevitable.

If this Masked Man was truly the type who didnʼt care about his identity being exposed, why would he choose to find Lin Yu through ”dream invasion”?

And even within the dream, he had himself wrapped up tightly, completely sealed off!

Lin Yu silently drew an Assist Card into his hand.

He glanced at it.

It was a ”Mouth.”

”This card...”

Lin Yu narrowed his eyes.

The best use Lin Yu could think of for this card was at the start of the game... As long as the opponent didnʼt have one of each of the three card types, after the first round of playing cards, he could quickly lock down all the cards in the opponentʼs hand.

Regardless, the number of Assist Cards in his hand was now back to two...

Lin Yu tapped the table.

”Shall we begin the second round of the game?”

”Of course... do you want to shuffle again?”

The Masked Man handed the golden cards to Lin Yu.

Lin Yu gave them a couple of quick cuts and placed them on the table.

As the winner of the previous round, he drew first.

The two quickly drew three Rock-Paper-Scissors Cards each into their hands.

Lin Yu looked at the cards in his hand.

”Scissors, Scissors, Paper.”

Having two Scissors wasnʼt exactly a great hand.

But with Paper in hand, it wasnʼt too terrible either.

The Masked Man spoke in a low voice, ”You took the first action last round. This round, I will act.”

”If youʼre asking for my agreement, Iʼm not very inclined to give it.”

Lin Yu responded calmly.

”Then this isnʼt a request.”

With that, the Masked Man placed an ”Ear” card on the table.

”I choose to use one Assist Card.”

Lin Yu raised an eyebrow.

”Wow... youʼre being pretty aggressive too.”

”Fine, I declare that the card I will play will definitely not be Rock.”

Lin Yu said casually.

After all, he didnʼt have any Rock in his hand.

Hearing Lin Yuʼs declaration, the Masked Man nodded slightly and made a ”go ahead” gesture.

When it came to Lin Yuʼs turn...

He simultaneously laid out his two cards on the table.

”I choose to use two Assist Cards this turn.”

”Eyes” and ”Mouth” appeared on the table together.

This time, the Masked Man was genuinely taken aback.

He faced Lin Yu, seemingly pondering whether this move was simply to prove he was more extreme than him!

Lin Yu flipped over two of the cards from the deck.

”Tsk... it really is the worst possible scenario.”

He sighed inwardly.

Because what Lin Yu saw were ”Rock” and ”Scissors.”

Now, there were three Rocks, one Scissors, and one Paper out there.

In other words, the possible combinations in the opponentʼs hand were...

Scenario One: Three Rocks.

Scenario Two: Two Rocks, one Scissors.

Scenario Three: Two Rocks, one Paper.

Scenario Four: One Rock, one Scissors, one Paper.

With Lin Yu holding two Scissors, this was a colossal disadvantage.

If it was Scenario One, no matter how Lin Yu struggled, he would inevitably lose.

Scenario Two could only result in a tie.

Scenarios Three and Four offered a chance to win—Three was almost the most favorable situation.

For Lin Yu to win, the opponentʼs hand *must* contain a Paper!

The Masked Man glanced at the cards in his hand and spoke unhurriedly.

”The card type I have the fewest of is Rock.”

Hearing this, Lin Yu gave a slight nod.

It was either Scenario One or Scenario Four.

And... most likely Scenario One.

From a probability standpoint, Lin Yu was already at a significant disadvantage.

But...

This wasnʼt a game that relied solely on probability.

In any game of strategy, even those born purely for gambling with rules so simple that luck accounts for up to ninety percent, there is still room for maneuvering.

Just like what Lin Yu did in the previous round... psychological tactics.

He silently and calmly placed a Rock-Paper-Scissors Card face down.

After the Masked Man also placed his card down, Lin Yu spoke steadily.

”Letʼs reveal.”

He flipped over his card. It was a Scissors.

And the Masked Manʼs...

Was a Rock.

Lin Yu offered no comment on this, merely sweeping his gaze over the cards he had just seen.

Now Lin Yu was very sure... no, he was almost one hundred percent certain.

The Masked Man had three Rocks in his hand.

”This turn, I will not use any cards.”

The Masked Man spoke again.

Lin Yu looked at him and shrugged.

”I donʼt have any cards I can use either.”

He said, then placed his card face down on the table.

The Masked Man followed suit immediately.

The cards for this turn were revealed—Paper and Rock.

Lin Yuʼs, of course, was Paper.

He won the second turn.

At this moment, the cards in the Masked Manʼs hand were effectively revealed—he had three Rocks.

So, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but almost laugh inwardly.

Now, holding his final Scissors, he was utterly convinced...

This game could at least end in a tie.

He directly placed his final Scissors card face down on the table, pressing both hands on top.

This way, when it was time to play the card, he just needed to push the card forward and then remove his hands.

However, at that moment, the Masked Man spoke up directly.

”I choose to use one Assist Card.”

Then, he placed the ”Right Hand” on the table.

Seeing this card, Lin Yu could barely suppress the joy in his heart.

Now, he even had a great chance of winning!
