We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 442: Then Your Servant Will Spend the Rest of Her Life Continuing to Search

Inside the bedchamber, Xiao Mo looked at the pair of enchantingly beautiful peach-blossom eyes before him, and for a moment he could not tell whether the woman was speaking from the heart or not but somewhere deep within him, Xiao Mo had a feeling that if everything she had said was not the truth, then nothing in this world was real.

”Does Your Majesty have anything else he wishes to ask?”

The corner of Yan Ruxueʼs rosy lips curved into a gentle smile as she asked softly.

”There is nothing else I wish to ask of Miss for the moment.” Xiao Mo shook his head.

He truly had nothing more he wanted to ask.

Since she would not harm him, and would not do anything to endanger the Zhou Kingdom, most matters still had room to be worked around.

Moreover, she was not truly a member of the Yan family, and would not be watching him constantly.

She had even originally intended to help him reclaim his authority and power.

Of course, all of that was on the premise that everything she had said was true.

So he could not trust her completely. He would keep at least a measure of wariness toward her.
”Your servant has been concealing things from Your Majesty, and that is indeed your servantʼs fault. What is more, the thing your servant entered the palace to obtain rightly belongs to Your Majesty. These past days, your servantʼs heart has not been without unease.” Yan Ruxue spoke slowly.

”Once your servant has obtained that thing, your servant promises to repay Your Majesty a hundredfold, a thousandfold.”

”Furthermore, your servant has observed that Your Majesty is cultivating. Fairy Jiang mentioned that Your Majesty has already reached the peak of Qi Refinement.”

”Although it is true that for an emperor to enter the Foundation Building realm is exceedingly difficult, if Your Majesty is willing to trust your servant, your servant may be able to lend a hand.”

”Miss wishes to assist my cultivation?” Xiao Mo asked.

”Yes.”

Yan Ruxue gave a nod, then swept her fragrant sleeve and laid down a formation that cut off all perception from the outside world.

She then removed her embroidered shoes, slipped off her foot coverings, and revealed a pair of perfectly fair and delicate feet. She knelt and sat upon the bed.

Her round, full figure settled gracefully atop her folded feet, and the thin, light sleeping robe clung closely to her elegant frame.

Her hair ornaments had already been undone, and her long black hair hung loose like a waterfall down to her waist.

In the glow of the red candle, the woman was as pure and pristine as a snow lotus on the Heavenly Mountains, and yet as breathtakingly beautiful as a night-blooming cereus, a beauty that stirred the soul.

”Please, Your Majesty.”

Yan Ruxue extended her fair wrist and patted the bed before her gently.

Xiao Moʼs brow furrowed, and after a momentʼs hesitation, he too removed his shoes, climbed onto the bed, and sat facing Yan Ruxue.

”Your Majesty, please open your heart and mind. Your servant will circulate a cultivation technique called the Moonlight Mystic Art. Your servant will draw upon the essence of the moon to refine and purify Your Majestyʼs spiritual energy. During this time, Your Majesty need not do anything at all. Simply relax.”

With those words, Yan Ruxue slowly closed her eyes.

Xiao Mo closed his eyes as well.

Yan Ruxueʼs soft, delicate hands gently wrapped around Xiao Moʼs broad palms.

Xiao Mo felt a stream of pure, refined spiritual energy flow into his body.

Yan Ruxueʼs spiritual energy intertwined and blended with Xiao Moʼs own, drawing out every last impurity within his spiritual power.

As the impurities were drawn away, Xiao Mo felt the spiritual veins and spiritual apertures within his body suddenly open and clear, as though emptied of all obstruction.

It was like a wooden barrel filled with water, but riddled throughout with mud and stones. What Yan Ruxue was doing was the equivalent of removing every stone and scrap of mud from the barrel, and filtering the water inside it again and again until it ran clean.

As his spiritual energy was being refined and purified, the sensation was one of extraordinary comfort.

Gradually, Xiao Moʼs consciousness grew heavier and heavier, and he began nodding his head in a drowsy daze.

At last, his consciousness sank, and he toppled forward.

Yan Ruxue opened her eyes at the same moment, and as she leaned forward, she reached out and caught him in her arms.

Gazing at the sleeping face of the man nestled in her embrace, the love in Yan Ruxueʼs peach-blossom eyes seemed as though it might spill over and overflow.

”Do not worry, husband. Your servant will take care of everything as quickly as possible. I will not make you wait too long.”

Yan Ruxue gently laid Xiao Mo down on the bed and covered him with the red blanket, then softly slipped beneath the covers herself and lay on her side beside him.

Resting against the chest of the one she loved, Yan Ruxue quietly listened to the strong and vigorous rhythm of his heartbeat.

It was as though that sound were the most beautiful thing this woman had ever heard in her life.

”Husband... in this lifetime... your servant will not allow anyone, or anything, to tear us apart ever again...”

The following morning.

Warm sunlight fell upon Xiao Moʼs face.

Xiao Mo opened his eyes, and seeing the unfamiliar bed curtains around him, his heart tensed for a moment before he remembered that this was Yan Ruxueʼs room, and he relaxed slightly.

Xiao Mo recalled that the night before, he and Yan Ruxue had sat cross-legged together on the bed while she refined his spiritual energy for him, and that he had eventually fallen asleep from the sheer comfort of it.

Turning his awareness inward, Xiao Mo noticed not only that his spiritual energy felt considerably purer, but also that it seemed to have been compressed, showing no sign of the overflow he had been managing before.

In other words, before entering Foundation Building next month, he would likely not need to actively suppress his spiritual energy for the time being, nor would he need to deliberately hold back his cultivation.

His Qi Refinement realm could be consolidated even further, increasing his chances of successfully entering Foundation Building by a few more points.

”Your Majesty is awake.”

Yan Ruxueʼs soft voice drifted through the room.

Xiao Mo turned his head. Yan Ruxue was at the dressing table, combing through her long hair.

She was still wearing the same thin, gauzy robe from the night before, and with her slightly languid yet beguiling appearance, she looked just as though she had spent the night attending to him.

Though Xiao Mo knew that nothing had happened between the two of them the night before.

After finishing her grooming, Yan Ruxue changed into a snow-white palace gown and walked to the bedside with composed elegance. ”How does Your Majesty feel?”

”The spiritual energy within me is much richer than before. Many thanks to Miss.” Xiao Mo answered honestly.

”This is only what your servant ought to do. Your servantʼs skill in swordsmanship is indeed no match for National Preceptor Jiangʼs, but Your Majesty is welcome to come to your servantʼs Ning Xue Palace often, and your servant can continue to purify Your Majestyʼs spiritual energy.”

Yan Ruxue smiled gently, then picked up the clothing set to one side.

”Allow your servant to help Your Majesty change.”

”There is no need to trouble Miss. I can manage on my own.”

Xiao Mo shook his head, sat up, and dressed himself.

Once Xiao Mo was out of bed, Yan Ruxue bit open her own finger, and after quietly drawing out the spiritual energy and dragon aura from her blood, let several drops fall upon the white bedsheet.

The drops of crimson blood spread across the white cloth like a blossoming plum flower.

Xiao Mo understood what she was doing.

He had spent the night with her in her chambers. Though nothing had happened, the Empress Dowager would not necessarily believe that.

So the blood-stained white cloth was meant to be presented to the Empress Dowager for inspection.

”I once heard National Preceptor Jiang say that Miss has been searching for that thing for a very long time?”

Xiao Mo asked with curiosity.

In truth, for a cultivator of the Middle Three Realms to sneak into the palace for the sake of some object, and to even willingly become the consort of a puppet emperor such as himself, the sacrifice was genuinely quite considerable.

”Indeed, your servant has been searching for a very long time.” Yan Ruxue folded the white cloth away and gave a nod. ”If your servant were an ordinary mortal, then in the way common people speak of it, your servant has been searching for ʼthe better half of a lifetime.ʼ”

Xiao Mo paused with a slight start. ”Then what if Miss never finds it? What then?”

”If I never find it...”

Yan Ruxueʼs eyes curved into a smile.

”Then your servant will spend the rest of her life continuing to search.”
