We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 414: Elder Sister Wants to Be Selfish Once

The matter of Qin Siyao adopting Qin Lanʼer as her daughter spread throughout the entire court.

For the ministers, Her Majesty choosing to adopt from among the imperial relatives was certainly an excellent thing.

Although the crown prince was not Her Majestyʼs bloodline.

At least, the Qin Kingdomʼs crown prince had finally been established.

And to be honest, they actually didnʼt hope for Her Majesty to leave behind bloodline descendants.

In many peopleʼs view, when the Frost Prince departed from the mortal world, Her Majestyʼs heart had already died but the problem was, this crown prince was still a woman.

Although women were not incapable of shouldering great responsibilities.

Her Majesty was also a woman.

Over these years, what Her Majesty had done was witnessed by all under heaven.

In most peopleʼs hearts, even the worldʼs most sage-like emperor would only be like this but could this little girl truly achieve what Her Majesty had in the future?
Thus, many ministers submitted memorials again, wanting Her Majesty to select another prince to adopt instead.

Regarding the ministersʼ memorials, Qin Siyao still paid no attention.

Since she had already made her decision, Qin Siyao would not change her mind.

She personally taught Qin Lanʼer reading and writing.

Qin Lanʼer was naturally intelligent and learned everything very quickly.

Moreover, Qin Siyao unexpectedly discovered that Qin Lanʼerʼs cultivation talent was also quite good.

In Qin Siyaoʼs view, Qin Lanʼerʼs cultivation talent was even no lower than her own.

If this were the case, with the support of various heavenly treasures and earthly materials, Qin Lanʼer would at least become an Immortal realm cultivator in the future.

If Qin Lanʼer could obtain certain opportunities in the future, advancing to Ascension realm afterward was not impossible.

Even if she didnʼt become an Ascension realm cultivator.

Living for thousands of years, even ten thousand years, would be no problem at all for Qin Lanʼer and Qin Lanʼer also sensed Her Majesty elder sisterʼs expectations for her.

Qin Lanʼer studied and cultivated very diligently.

She didnʼt want to disappoint Her Majesty elder sister...

Time passed day by day.

Qin Lanʼer grew increasingly fond of Her Majesty elder sister.

In Qin Lanʼerʼs heart, Her Majesty elder sister knew everything and was excellent at everything she did. However, Qin Lanʼer discovered that Her Majesty elder sister would sometimes sit in the courtyard in a daze.

When there was nothing to do, Her Majesty elder sister would also leave the imperial palace and go to a certain manor.

In that manor, Her Majesty elder sister would sit for most of the day.

Qin Lanʼer didnʼt know what was special about this manor.

The only thing that left a deep impression on Qin Lanʼer was that every time she came to the manorʼs entrance and raised her head, she could see those three large characters, ”Frost Prince Manor”...

Before she knew it, another ten years had passed.

For mortals, there werenʼt many decades in a lifetime.

For cultivators, the so-called ten years was merely a small period of seclusion.

And for Qin Siyao, these ten years seemed longer than a hundred years.

Qin Lanʼer had also grown from a six-year-old little girl into a maiden in her prime at sixteen, and her realm had reached the early Cave Mansion stage.

In political affairs, although Qin Lanʼer still carried some immaturity, she was already doing very well, only lacking experience.

What made Qin Siyao feel even more gratified was that Qin Lanʼer would actively read books on agriculture, water conservancy, and so on, and often took the initiative to go among the common people to observe.

As for Qin Lanʼerʼs marriage, Qin Siyao was not anxious and didnʼt urge her.

It was true that Qin Lanʼer had reached marriageable age, but Qin Lanʼer was not a mortal. She had a long lifespan. However, Qin Lanʼer seemed to have a good relationship with one of the Xiao familyʼs descendants. The two of them occasionally discussed scholarly matters together.

The Xiao family was different from several decades ago.

Now the Xiao family no longer had the ”Northern Pacification Prince,” nor did it have the ”Northern Frontier Army.”

The Xiao family at this time was just an ordinary princely household. However, as long as the Xiao family descendants didnʼt commit any illegal acts or bully men and women, Qin Siyao would naturally look after the Xiao family somewhat.

And the Xiao family was actually quite capable.

After Xiao Moʼs passing, Xiao Gui became the Xiao family head, assisted by Xiao Yang.

As before, Xiao family descendants had to study and practice martial arts from childhood, and neither could be neglected.

Moreover, because the Xiao family ancestors, Xiao Shi, and Xiao Mo had set the tone for the Xiao family through their own actions, and because after Xiao Gui became family head he placed even more emphasis on letting the children understand the three ancestorsʼ deeds.

So every Xiao family descendant had their hearts set on the realm and aspired to serve the nation.

The Xiao family clan even produced both civil and martial examination top scholars.

Although the Xiao Manorʼs power and influence were gone, not a single person dared look down on the Xiao family and the Xiao family descendant with whom Qin Lanʼer was friendly was named Xiao Jing.

This scholarʼs Confucian learning achievements were indeed considerable. Though barely twenty, he had already passed the top examination.

As for his character, it was also acceptable.

So when Qin Lanʼer associated with him, Qin Siyao turned a blind eye. However, gradually, Qin Siyao felt she might have misunderstood.

Because Qin Lanʼer and Xiao Jing truly seemed to only discuss scholarly matters.

Another three years passed.

On this day, Lian Li came to the imperial study to find Qin Siyao, requesting to resign from office.

”Miss Lian is leaving?” Qin Siyao asked.

”Mm.”

Lian Li nodded.

”Now the Qin Kingdom is greatly settled. Under all heaven there is no land that is not Qin soil, to the shores of the land there are no subjects who are not the rulerʼs subjects. The common people live in peace and contentment, the realm has long been without warfare. If I continue to remain in the Qin Kingdom, I wonʼt have much use anymore.

In this court, one more of me is not many, one less of me is not few. Some court rules also constrain me uncomfortably.

Rather than this, it would be better to enter the jianghu, which would be more carefree.”

”If so... thatʼs also good...” A trace of loss flashed through Qin Siyaoʼs eyes. ”If Miss Lian wants to come back and visit, you may do so at any time.”

”Thank you, Your Majesty.” Lian Li nodded, looking at Qin Siyao with a complex expression. ”Actually, compared to me, Your Majesty should ʼgo outʼ more.”

”The Frost Prince, he...” Lian Li gently bit her thin lips, hesitated briefly, but still said, ”He... is no longer here...”

After speaking, Lian Li said no more. After clasping her fists in salute, she turned and left the imperial study.

In the imperial study, Qin Siyao raised her head to look out the window, silent for a long time.

Five more years passed.

The now twenty-four-year-old Qin Lanʼer had completely familiarized herself with most of the Qin Kingdomʼs political affairs.

Qin Siyao began having Qin Lanʼer handle some court matters to gain experience.

Qin Lanʼer indeed did extremely well.

Every task Qin Siyao gave her, Qin Lanʼer completed perfectly, without a single mishap.

It was just... Qin Lanʼer didnʼt know if it was her imagination.

She always felt Her Majesty elder sister seemed to want to transfer all political affairs to her as quickly as possible.

Not only Qin Lanʼer, other ministers had similar feelings.

Although the current crown prince was indeed outstanding, and training her with various political affairs was not inappropriate but Her Majesty seemed to be delegating too much authority.

This didnʼt quite seem like gradual cultivation, but rather like Her Majestyʼs days were numbered and she wanted Qin Lanʼer to quickly shoulder great responsibilities but because the Qin Kingdom was currently thriving, and moreover the crown prince Qin Lanʼer had never made a single mistake from beginning to end, the ministers didnʼt say anything.

Five years later.

The now twenty-nine-year-old Qin Lanʼer could completely shoulder great responsibilities.

The court ministers praised Qin Lanʼer endlessly.

In Qin Siyaoʼs view, even if she handed the entire Qin Kingdom over to Qin Lanʼer, there wouldnʼt be much of a problem.

Another three years.

Li Ge, Baili Xi, and Jian Shu all passed away one after another this year.

Qin Siyao saw them off on their final journey.

Although these three ministers had never killed enemies on the battlefield.

From the unification of the realm to the current prosperous age.

These three had stabilized the court, been diligent in government affairs, and laid the foundation for the entire Qin Kingdom.

Two years later.

Qin Siyao wanted to construct a Heaven-Worshiping Platform.

This Heaven-Worshiping Platform would use Mount Tai as the formationʼs eye, with a radius of a thousand li as the formation array, gathering thirty thousand formation cultivators, planning to complete construction over fifty years.

This Heaven-Worshiping Platform would be sufficient to condense all the mountain and river fortune of the Ten Thousand Laws Realm.

When the Qin Kingdom court officials learned this news, they were all stunned.

They didnʼt know what Her Majesty wanted to do by establishing such a large-scale formation array but at this time, Qin Siyaoʼs prestige was so great that whatever decisions she made, as long as she wanted to do them, the ministersʼ memorials were completely useless.

And when the matter of Qin Siyao constructing the Heaven-Worshiping Platform reached the common peopleʼs ears.

Even though the common people didnʼt understand, they all supported it.

They believed their emperor wouldnʼt be wrong.

Furthermore, sixty percent of the heavenly treasures and earthly materials Qin Siyao requisitioned came from mountain sects, forty percent from the royal court.

Moreover, the Qin Kingdomʼs national strength was now extremely robust.

So even constructing such a Heaven-Worshiping Platform wouldnʼt waste manpower and resources, and had almost no major impact on the common people.

Thus, the Heaven-Worshiping Platform began construction without much obstruction.

Ten years, twenty years, thirty years...

Gradually, because so much time had passed, aside from mountain cultivators who closely monitored this Heaven-Worshiping Platform, the mortal common people had almost forgotten about this most grandiose project of the human race royal court.

Fifty years passed.

When the last high-grade spirit stone was placed, the last rune carved, the last formation flag buried in the mountain.

In an instant, the mountains and rivers shook, the rivers and streams churned.

The entire Ten Thousand Laws Realmʼs weather changed dramatically.

”Roar!”

Dragon roars rang out one after another!

All the mountain and river fortune of the Ten Thousand Laws Realm condensed toward the Heaven-Worshiping Platform.

All the sect masters of all sects in the Ten Thousand Laws Realm raised their heads to gaze toward the Heaven-Worshiping Platformʼs direction.

Even in the Demon Realm, many great demons climbed high to observe, sensing that extremely rich mountain and river fortune.

”It should be enough.”

In the Qin Kingdom imperial palace, Qin Siyao looked toward the Heaven-Worshiping Platform, sensing the mountain and river fortune the Heaven-Worshiping Platform had condensed, speaking to herself.

The third year after the Heaven-Worshiping Platform was completed.

The Qin Kingdom remained prosperous with favorable weather. These peaceful years had already continued for nearly a hundred years.

One day, just as Qin Lanʼer was handling government affairs in the Eastern Palace, Qin Siyao walked into her study.

”Your Majesty.”

Seeing Qin Siyao, Qin Lanʼer quickly stood up and bowed to Qin Siyao.

”Between you and me, thereʼs no need for such formalities.” Qin Siyao looked at Lanʼer with a smile. ”Lanʼer, do you have free time today?”

”Reporting to Your Majesty, yes.” Qin Lanʼer quickly nodded. ”Does Your Majesty want Lanʼer to do something?”

”Not exactly.”

Qin Siyao shook her head.

”I just want you to walk with me. How about it, shall we go outside the imperial palace for a stroll?”

”Of course.”

Hearing Her Majesty invite her for a walk, Qin Lanʼerʼs eyes brightened and she immediately agreed.

Although she had grown up, she still enjoyed being alone with Her Majesty.

”But Your Majesty, where shall we go?” Qin Lanʼer asked.

”Just follow me.”

Qin Siyao turned around, took a step, and was about to leave the imperial palace.

Qin Lanʼer quickly activated her divine powers and followed beside Qin Siyao.

The two used earth-shrinking techniques. With each step, they crossed several hundred li.

Soon, the two had already left the imperial capital.

Qin Lanʼer turned her head to look at Her Majesty beside her.

Over all these years, Qin Lanʼer had actually always been very worried about her majesty.

Because Her Majestyʼs mood was very low every day.

Even though Her Majesty would sometimes smile gently, that faint smile made oneʼs heart ache even more.

Qin Lanʼer didnʼt know what to do to make Her Majesty truly happy.

After she learned the story of Her Majesty and the Frost Prince, Qin Lanʼer knew even less what to do.

Although books said that for many matters in the world, time would smooth over everything but for Her Majesty, would time truly be useful?

”Lanʼer.”

Just as Qin Lanʼer was silently lowering her head, Qin Siyao slowly spoke.

”Now regarding court political affairs, you can also handle them with ease. Youʼre very intelligent, your cultivation talent is also very good. In the future, if you manage the Qin Kingdom, you wonʼt do worse than me.”

”Lanʼer will never compare to Your Majesty!” Qin Lanʼer quickly said.

”Why are you nervous? Iʼm not worried youʼll usurp the throne.”

Qin Siyao smiled.

”Moreover, thereʼs one thing Iʼve never told you.

That is, I prefer it when you call me ʼYour Majesty elder sisterʼ like when you were little, rather than just addressing me as ʼYour Majesty.ʼ”

”Your Majesty elder sister...”

Qin Lanʼerʼs cheeks reddened slightly as she softly called out.

”Mm.”

Qin Siyao nodded with a smile.

”Indeed, this form of address sounds better.” Qin Siyao extended her hand and, as when they first met, stroked Qin Lanʼerʼs long hair. ”From now on, everything elder sister tells you, you must keep in your heart and must not forget.”

”The first matter concerns Li Wen, Liang Xue, Liu Dajin, and Shang Li. They are all talented ministers for governing in times of peace. Previously they were highly valued by Prime Minister Li and others, but I deliberately found reasons to demote them out of the capital. First, they were too young and needed to struggle through hardships for a time. Second, Iʼm keeping them for you to use in the future.

After Iʼm gone, recall them to the capital, bring them into the inner cabinet, and you can confidently employ them.

They will also certainly be completely devoted to you.”

”The second matter concerns the Demon Realm. Although our Ten Thousand Laws Realm no longer has warfare, the Demon Realm still eyes us covetously.

Not to mention the borders between our two realms are inherently blurred and conflicts frequently occur.

However, soon a boundary will be placed between the two realms. When that time comes, you must not only have the courtʼs great generals lead armies to garrison it, but also have disciples from other sects go there for training.”

”The third matter is that in the future, aside from handling government affairs, you must not neglect cultivation. Cultivate to whatever level you can. From this point forward, you will be the emperor with the longest lifespan in the world. The peace that the Ten Thousand Laws Realm has obtained with such difficulty, you must guard it well.”

”Your Majesty elder sister... you are...”

Qin Lanʼerʼs eyes wavered.

She felt Her Majesty elder sister was like someone giving final instructions.

Qin Siyao smiled slightly, pinched Qin Lanʼerʼs cheek, and said gently, ”Elder sister wants to be selfish once.”
