I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

228: Chapter 228 An Enemy Far Away Yet Right Before Our EyesThe two shared a ten-year bond of master and disciple, acting as both teacher and friend. For the disciple she cherished most, Master Bai Mudan truly found it hard to harden her heart and kill Ye Yun.

However, with her arrogant nature, it was absolutely impossible for her to let someone who had tackled two Tibetan Mastiffs, and turned such a disgraceful affair into an action movie, continue to serve as the Master of the Nether Palace.

She could not allow the Protagonist of that action movie, the person who caused her to lose face and brought total disgrace to the Nether Palace, to continue serving as the Palace Master.

She had to provide an explanation to everyone in the Nether Palace, and she had to provide an explanation to the mercenary world.

Yet, the Nether Palace had been passed down for hundreds of years. As the supreme martial art of the Nether Palace, the Nether Divine Art had been inherited by every generation of the Palace Master.

Master Bai Mudan did not want such a peerless divine art to have its lineage completely severed in her hands.

Clearly, since Ye Yun was no longer suitable to be the Palace Master of the Nether Palace, he naturally could not continue to cultivate the Nether Divine Art, the sect’s treasure.

If the man before her was willing—and considering he was indeed exceptionally talented and extremely intelligent—

she would not mind following the example of the Ghost Valley School from ancient China and raising a new successor.

With Ye Yun and Chu Yuan as the two successors, they could eventually face off to decide who was qualified to continue cultivating the Nether Divine Art.

This would be the best explanation to give the Nether Palace, and it would not betray the heavy trust placed in her by the previous Palace Master.

Chu Yuan watched coldly from the sidelines, taking in every change in Master Bai Mudan’s expression.

With her stern expression, it was obvious that Master Bai Mudan was considering whether she should keep him by her side, and perhaps even pondering how to handle difficulties if she did so.

However, when he heard Master Bai Mudan speak of how powerful the hidden enemies were—so powerful that even she could not deal with them personally and had even been severely injured—

hearing this, Chu Yuan sneered inwardly.

He really wanted to tell Master Bai Mudan that the mysterious and powerful enemy she spoke of was none other than someone far away yet right before her eyes.

On the surface, however, Chu Yuan feigned ignorance and even put on a fearful expression.

Yet, after showing fear, he resolutely chose to stand by Master Bai Mudan’s side.

He declared that even though he lacked ability, he would protect Master Bai Mudan to the death.

”Mudan, I know I am just a small-time thug with no real ability. Facing the enemies you mentioned, who have eyes in the heavens and possess such great power, my heart is indeed filled with a bit of fear.”

”But when I think that in this lifetime I can be with you, fight side by side with you, and face unknown dangers, my heart no longer holds fear. All that remains is excitement and anticipation.”

”These emotions weigh upon my heart, making me feel that even in the face of death, I have no fear.”

As he spoke, Chu Yuan took Master Bai Mudan’s hand, his eyes locked firmly onto hers, using an incredibly affectionate tone to express his determination to face death without fear.

Fond of taking small advantages, prone to infuriating others, and somewhat cowardly in the face of danger, yet he knew exactly how to please a woman and how to flirt with her.

Chu Yuan had long since portrayed the image of a small-time thug to perfection.

Not to mention Master Bai Mudan, a novice in love who would not have the slightest suspicion, even those closest to him like Liu Yanran, who were extremely familiar with him, would never have guessed that this shameless and lewd little thug was actually the young master of the Chu family.

Their identities were worlds apart, yet they were somehow connected.

Chu Yuan’s straightforward words completely touched Master Bai Mudan’s heart. Her fragile heart pounded wildly, almost as if it were about to jump out of her throat.

She looked shy and did not dare to look Chu Yuan in the eyes, so she turned her head away, trying to escape it all.

However, her hands were held tightly by Chu Yuan, and she had no intention of pulling them away.

”You must understand, following by my side is a path of no return. Even if you want to regret it, it will not be possible.”

”One slight misstep, and you won’t even know how you died.”

Thinking of the powerful enemies hidden in the shadows, Master Bai Mudan’s heart was still filled with worry.

She forced herself to suppress her shyness, turned her head back, and stared directly at the man before her who was willing to die for her, confirming once more:

If she parted ways with Chu Yuan now, whether the two of them could ever meet again was an unknown.

At this moment, Master Bai Mudan had already blossomed with love, her heart stirred. She was unwilling to part with the man who had touched her soul.

If she had to make a choice, she still hoped that this man—who made her angry and annoyed her—could live his previous life, live peacefully and securely, and not follow her into life-and-death situations.

Even if she could recover from her injuries and no matter how high her martial arts were, with such a dead weight by her side, Master Bai Mudan had no confidence in being able to protect his safety.

Moreover, to this day, Master Bai Mudan had not figured out who was plotting against them from the shadows.

Was it the Dragon Group, or someone else?

Master Bai Mudan truly did not want this man, the only one for whom she had developed feelings, to be dragged into that life of life-and-death, living with no tomorrow.

Hearing Master Bai Mudan ask again, Chu Yuan just smiled indifferently and did not say much. He gently raised his hand, gave a sudden pull, and drew the woman before him into his arms.

At this moment, silence spoke louder than words. Chu Yuan wanted to use his actions to tell Master Bai Mudan his decision.

Master Bai Mudan had never expected that this damn little thug would be so bold and reckless again, trying to take advantage of her once more.

Master Bai Mudan reached out, instinctively wanting to push Chu Yuan away.

However, when her hands touched Chu Yuan’s chest, she felt how powerful his muscles were, and his pounding heart seemed to resonate with her own.

In the end, she did not know what kind of mindset she was in; her originally firm hands went completely limp at this moment.

Chu Yuan had already made too many sacrifices for her; to be with her, he was even willing to give up his life.

Since he only wanted an embrace, could she really be so cruel as to reject even this small request?

Master Bai Mudan was completely a novice in love, with not a shred of romantic experience. Her joys, angers, sorrows, and pleasures were entirely dictated by her own whims.

At this moment, Master Bai Mudan’s heart had completely softened; it had been thoroughly conquered by Chu Yuan, and she had fallen into it.
