Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 689: Chapter 688: Charles Northwood Confesses His Love

The voice of Charles Northwood came from the other end of the phone. Tara Jameson froze, tears immediately streaming down her face. She could hardly believe her ears and had no idea what Charles Northwood’s words truly meant.

”Say that again.”

Tara Jameson’s voice was choked with sobs; she stood rooted to the spot, her whole body trembling.

”I said, if I confessed my feelings to you again, would you agree to be my girlfriend?”

Hanging up the phone, Charles Northwood yelled out. Hearing the voice from behind her, Tara Jameson spun around and saw Charles Northwood standing in the open doorway of his room.

Instantly, Tara Jameson burst into tears. Her face streaked with tears, she stood frozen, unsure how to react. Listening to his words, she hesitated, remaining motionless.

Seeing that she hadn’t moved, Charles Northwood walked towards her, steadfastly, step by step. Finally, he stopped in front of her.

”Tara Jameson, I like you.”

It was the same sentence, just like last time.

Tara Jameson stood her ground, wiping away her tears. ”But... I don’t think I like you.” Her words were also the same as last time.

”It’s okay. I’ll make you fall for me.”

”Everyone at University A says how excellent Professor Northwood is, but why does no one ever mention that Professor Northwood is also quite narcissistic?” Tara Jameson choked out these words, her eyes instantly welling up with tears.

”Oh, really?” Charles Northwood chuckled and pulled her into his arms.

”Tara Jameson, I truly like you.” He suddenly spoke, his words different from last time.

Tara Jameson stood stunned in his embrace. She had come here intending to win him back. Yet, all of this felt too surreal; she couldn’t quite accept it.

”Tara Jameson, has your answer changed?” He had to lower his head to see her expression.

Tara Jameson shook her head, wiping her tears dry. ”Professor Northwood, I think... we’re better off as friends.”

She didn’t know why, but she suddenly recoiled. After pushing Charles Northwood away, she turned and fled.

She desperately wanted to stay with Charles Northwood, but she was so scared. Everything was changing so quickly, and she didn’t know what Charles Northwood’s true feelings were. All she could do was run away. If Charles Northwood had rejected her, she could have accepted it, though it would have been painful. But Charles Northwood had actually confessed to her again! What did this mean? He had been the one to confess first last time, but then...

「...」

Watching Tara Jameson’s retreating figure, Charles Northwood stood rooted to the spot, his expression unreadable as he rubbed his temples in frustration.

He must be going crazy. That’s why he’d done something even he couldn’t understand.

「...」

Maxwell Peary drove the vandalized Maybach directly to the MC Group, attracting many stares along the way. It wasn’t just because the car was so luxurious, but because this luxury car was now such a pitiful sight.

”Whoa, Boss, did you just get back from a battlefield?” Owen Lewis, who was just returning, saw Maxwell Peary parking his car.

That Maybach looked familiar. TSK. What a terrible waste.

”What’s wrong?” Maxwell Peary shot him a displeased glance, seemingly unbothered by the scratched car.

”Nothing much, just lamenting a bit. Boss, you’re still driving this car? Aren’t you worried about losing face?”

Maxwell Peary rolled his eyes at him but said nothing. Of course, he had hesitated... but... It seemed he was even more reluctant to let Nia lose face.

”AH!” Suddenly, Owen Lewis cried out.

Maxwell Peary frowned, turning to look at Owen Lewis with a bewildered expression. ”What is it?”

Owen Lewis frowned, his expression grave. ”Boss, I’ve discovered something.”
