Chapter 1000: Chapter 999: Backyard on Fire (5 Updates)

Ye Haochuan finally fell into a deep sleep holding Chen Yushan.

Early the next morning, Chen Yushan got up and left for the Inspection Group. Ye Haochuan also woke up early, but he felt today was particularly unlucky—no, it was outrageously unlucky!

As soon as he got up, he kept sneezing. On his way downstairs, he sneezed again so violently he nearly slipped on a banana peel on the stairs. He almost fell flat on his face, but fortunately, as someone who practiced cultivation, he escaped unscathed—only to turn around and smack straight into the wall with a loud ”thud.” Thank goodness no one else saw him; otherwise, they’d be laughing their heads off.

After all that chaos, when the sneezing finally stopped, his right eyelid started twitching uncontrollably, almost as if it were auditioning for a brow-dancing competition!

”Right eyelid twitching is a bad omen. Does this mean something major is about to happen? Could it be that the mission Long Xiaotian gave me is a life-or-death situation? Or is it hinting that the Alliance Conference will be dangerous? But... damn it, I can’t not go...” Ye Haochuan felt increasingly irritated.

”I love you, you’re my pride... The sun smiles just for you...” A ringtone interrupted Ye Haochuan’s inner thoughts. He checked the caller ID: Oh? It was Bingqian calling. It had been a while; this girl must be missing me.

”Ye Haochuan! You bastard, where are you?” Before Ye Haochuan could even speak, an angry roar burst through the phone, nearly making him drop it in shock.

”Hey, what’s your problem? You almost blew out my eardrum!” Ye Haochuan also felt annoyed. Today was already off to a bad start, and now this girl was yelling at him? Clearly overdue for some discipline!

”You damn bastard, how dare you talk back? Where are you? Get your ass back here now!”

”Uh, Bingqian? I thought it was a scam call earlier, so I might’ve raised my voice a bit. I’m sorry, okay? What’s wrong? Missing your husband?”

At that moment, Ye Haochuan suddenly remembered something. No way... Could it be that she found out? As the thought crossed his mind, he instinctively felt guilty.

”What’s wrong? You know damn well what you did! You’re not coming back? Fine, just you wait!”

”Hey, hey! Bingqian, it’s not like that. Listen to me, I...”

”Beep... beep... beep.” Before he could finish explaining, Zhao Bingqian hung up. He tried calling back, but her phone was already turned off.

”The bad omen finally came true...” Ye Haochuan could only look up at the sky in speechless frustration.

Forget it. There’s no point in overthinking right now. Whatever the misunderstanding is, I’ll explain it to her once I’m back in Haishan. Some things just need both parties to calm down first.

With no beauties to meet up with today and an inexplicable feeling of irritation in his chest, Ye Haochuan didn’t feel like doing anything. Left with idle time, he decided to meditate on his own. Before long, he entered a meditative trance.

”Bang bang bang! Bang bang bang!” Who knew how much time had passed when a furious knocking on the door jolted Ye Haochuan out of his meditation.

Unhurriedly, he walked to the door. ”Who the hell is disturbing me while I’m cultivating? Is it the water meter inspector? A delivery guy? Just wait and see if this young master doesn’t—”

”Smack!” Before Ye Haochuan could even see who was at the door, he was greeted with a slap!

”Who’s so bold as to hit me? I’ll make you—oh, Bingqian, it’s you! What brings you here!? We just talked on the phone a little while ago, and you’re already here? Wow, you must’ve flown—” Just as Ye Haochuan was about to flip out, he saw Zhao Bingqian’s pretty face in front of him. His tone immediately softened. Why? Guilt, of course.

Goddamn it, she actually tracked me down here?

Ye Haochuan was momentarily dumbfounded, but as he thought about it carefully, he remembered mentioning this address to Zhao Bingqian when he first arrived in the Imperial Capital.

Even so, flying all the way from Haishan to here was a bit too much, right?

”Hmph! You call yourself a young master? What do you think I should do with you? For the mess you’ve caused, slapping you once is getting off easy!”

”Now tell me, what’s the deal with my sister’s baby?”

It turned out Zhao Bingqian had accidentally overheard Zhao Ruqian talking in her sleep. And what she heard was like a bolt from the blue! The baby in Ruqian’s belly was Ye Haochuan’s! No wonder her sister had always refused to reveal who the father was!

But how was Bingqian supposed to handle this? The two of them were actual sisters! She had always known that Ye Haochuan had other women, but out of sight, out of mind—they weren’t living together after all. But this time it was her own sister!

Zhao Bingqian didn’t dare confront her sister directly. After all, Ruqian was pregnant, and the last thing she wanted was to stress her out. So, feeling both helpless and furious, she came straight to Ye Haochuan. Helpless because she didn’t know how to face her feelings or her sister. Furious because these two had conspired to keep her in the dark.

”So... you know everything now?” Seeing that there was no point in hiding it anymore, Ye Haochuan could only smile sheepishly.

”Ye Haochuan, that’s my sister! How could you...” Bingqian’s tears started streaming uncontrollably as she spoke.

”I could turn a blind eye to you having other women. After all, we don’t live together. But how am I supposed to face my sister? I don’t even know what to call the baby she’s carrying.”

”Bingqian, just hear me out. What happened with Ruqian was an accident—”

”An accident? An accident that got my sister pregnant? I’ve always despised those heartless cheaters, but I never thought the person I’d hate most would turn out to be my own boyfriend. How could you... How could you both keep this from me all this time... Waaaah!”

”You know how these things happen... And, well, we didn’t use protection, so...”

”Everything is my fault. But I have no regrets. Meeting both of you was a destined bond set by the Heavenly Dao. I can’t live without either of you. I’ll cherish you both. I swear to the Heavenly Dao, my feelings for you two are genuine...” Ye Haochuan felt terrible too. He had wronged them both, but as a man, he had to own up to it. All he could do now was cherish them.

Ye Haochuan held Zhao Bingqian tightly in his arms as she continued to cry.

”Ye Haochuan, I wanted to leave you. But on the plane, I thought about it for a long time, and I realized I couldn’t do it... What am I supposed to do now...”

Zhao Bingqian cried harder and harder, until she finally broke down in sobs. Ye Haochuan felt a pang of heartache hearing her cry but didn’t know how to console her.

Back when he made that grave mistake, he’d already anticipated this day would come—he just hadn’t expected Bingqian to find out before they had the chance to tell her.

In this situation, all he could do was treat Zhao Bingqian even better from now on. What else could he do?

After crying for a long while, Zhao Bingqian slowly quieted down. When Ye Haochuan looked down, he realized this girl had fallen asleep.

Ye Haochuan gently placed Bingqian on the bed and covered her with a blanket. After all the crying and fussing, she’d tired herself out. Tears still lingered at the corners of her eyes, but her lips curled into a faint smile, as if the storm had passed and the weather had cleared.

”Creak.” Just as Ye Haochuan finally breathed a sigh of relief, his nerves immediately tensed again—Chen Yushan was back!
