Invincible Little School Doctor

Chapter 997: Chapter 996: I Don’t Have a Son That Old! (2nd Update)

”Doctor Cao, what are you doing?”

At this moment, an elderly man with partially gray hair hurriedly walked through the corridor. When he saw Cao Nimei, his face turned extremely cold.

”Vice Director Liu... I...”

Seeing the old man’s expression, Cao Nimei was startled and stammered.

”Where is your patient? Do you not realize that he is in critical condition right now?” Vice Director Liu said coldly.

Just a minute ago, Vice Director Liu was in the main monitoring room of this building when he suddenly noticed signs of worsening in the patient’s condition in Room 504. Alarmed, he grabbed some data and rushed here, only to find the attending physician of Room 504 casually wandering in the hallway.

”What?”

Cao Nimei’s face changed dramatically. Hereditary heart disease in critical condition? That would mean the patient is at risk of dying at any moment.

”As the attending physician of this patient, how could you not know this?”

Vice Director Liu’s expression darkened further. A critically ill patient being ignored by their attending physician—if word of this got out, who would ever want to seek treatment at Huaxia First People’s Hospital?

”I... I...”

Seeing Vice Director Liu’s stern face, Cao Nimei realized she was in serious trouble.

”It’s him! It must be that brat!” Cao Nimei suddenly thought to herself.

Ye Haochuan was currently treating Father Zhang. It was obvious; it had to be that fraud stirring up trouble.

”Who?” Vice Director Liu demanded.

”It’s the patient’s son, who brought in some quack from god-knows-where, claiming he could cure his father. He even kicked me out!” Cao Nimei said angrily, and then continued, ”When I left, the patient was still perfectly fine. As soon as I left, the patient took a turn for the worse. It must be that quack meddling with things.”

”Cao Nimei, well done! Excellent! As the attending physician, you let yourself get chased off with just a few words? If anything happens to the patient, can you afford the consequences? Are you planning to pack up and leave?” Vice Director Liu scolded coldly, visibly enraged.

”Hurry back and stop him now!” Vice Director Liu commanded.

With a shudder, Cao Nimei, eager to avoid further confrontation, dashed back as obediently as if he were a grandson running from his grandfather.

...

Inside the ward, Ye Haochuan was fully focused as he applied Silver Needles to Father Zhang’s heart area. One thread of Longevity True Qi after another gently flowed into Father Zhang’s body along with the needles.

In about ten seconds, the previously coughing, blood-spitting, and convulsing Father Zhang gradually began to calm down.

Beside him, the wavering lines on the ECG monitor also started stabilizing. It was obvious the condition had been brought under control.

Zhang Chong, on the other hand, looked utterly incredulous. Just moments ago, his father’s entire body had been spasming uncontrollably, coughing and spitting blood. That sight had terrified him, making him fear the worst for his father. And yet now, with just a few Silver Needles from Ye Haochuan, his father had calmed down completely.

At this moment, Zhang Chong couldn’t help but realize that Ye Haochuan’s medical skills had reached a level far beyond his understanding. His hopes of his father recovering grew even stronger.

”Knock, knock, knock!”

Then, the sound of anxious knocking came from the ward door, followed by Cao Nimei’s panicked voice: ”Zhang Chong, stop that fraud immediately! Your father is currently in critical condition. If he doesn’t undergo surgery quickly, there’s no saving him!”

”Ignore him!”

Ye Haochuan tossed out the remark nonchalantly and resumed his focus on the needles.

Zhang Chong nodded firmly. Ye Haochuan’s displayed medical expertise left no room for doubt, and against his words, Zhang Chong couldn’t offer any resistance.

”Damn it, brat, open the door! What happens if something goes wrong? Can you take responsibility?” Seeing Zhang Chong refusing to open the door, Cao Nimei cursed at Ye Haochuan through the door.

Just then, another voice chimed in: ”Young man, open the door quickly! The patient is in critical condition and cannot afford any delay. Immediate surgery is necessary!”

But after a few seconds of silence, there was still no response from inside the room, leaving Cao Nimei and Vice Director Liu visibly uneasy.

”Go fetch a few security guards and have them break down this door for me. The patient cannot afford to be in danger!” Vice Director Liu ordered angrily upon seeing no reaction from within.

Just as Cao Nimei was about to make the call for security, the ward door suddenly opened.

”Quick, hurry, get the patient to the operating theater and start surgery immediately!”

Seeing the open door, Vice Director Liu wasted no time shouting at the nurses, clearly prioritizing the patient over Ye Haochuan.

Startled by the urgency in his voice, the nurses scampered around like frightened rabbits, scrambling to action.

”No need. Brother Ye is already treating him.” Zhang Chong spread his arms and stopped the approaching nurses with mobile stretchers.

Witnessing this, Cao Nimei flew into a rage: ”Zhang Chong, your father is in critical condition! If you don’t perform surgery immediately, are you just going to wait for him to die?”

At this, Zhang Chong’s expression turned cold: ”Doctor Cao, I respect you as a physician, but I hope you watch your tone when you speak.”

”You...”

Cao Nimei raged inwardly. This kid used to be hesitant and deferential to me—what’s gotten into him now?

”Silence!”

Just then, Vice Director Liu, standing next to Cao Nimei, rebuked him sharply, clearly dissatisfied.

Faced with Vice Director Liu’s reprimand, Cao Nimei grudgingly shut his mouth. He had failed to notice the astonished expression on Vice Director Liu’s face.

”All of you, leave now. Don’t disturb anyone!” Vice Director Liu instructed the nurses.

Instantly, the ward cleared up, leaving Cao Nimei dumbfounded as he stared at Vice Director Liu: ”Vice Director Liu, why...”

”That young man may truly have the ability to cure the patient!” Vice Director Liu said, his eyes gleaming brightly.

As a seasoned physician, he could tell just by observing Ye Haochuan’s needlework that his methods were extraordinary.

”What?”

Cao Nimei was alarmed. Impossible! Hereditary heart disease cannot, with today’s medical technology, be cured without surgical intervention.

”Quiet!”

Cao Nimei’s loud voice drew Vice Director Liu’s irritation.

After about ten minutes, Ye Haochuan finally stopped and pulled out the Silver Needles inserted into Father Zhang.

”Brother Ye, how is my father now? Is he cured?” Zhang Chong eagerly asked, his face full of hope as he saw Ye Haochuan putting away the needles.

”Mission accomplished!”

Ye Haochuan smiled, giving him a reassuring nod.

”Thank goodness! How wonderful! Thank you, Brother Ye!”

Zhang Chong was overcome with emotion, almost crying with joy. He nearly knelt down in gratitude, only for Ye Haochuan to quickly grab him before he fell to the ground.

”No need to thank me; it’s just a small effort on my part!”

”No, Brother Ye. Perhaps it was only a small effort for you, but to me, you are like a savior!”

”I wouldn’t call myself your father, though!”

”Huh?”

”Nothing, nothing, just joking!”

The banter between Ye Haochuan and Zhang Chong left Su Yingxue speechless and slightly exasperated.

”Young man, I am Liu Yuanxiao, Vice Director of Huaxia First People’s Hospital. Watching your needlework earlier, it was simply miraculous. For someone of your talent, we at Huaxia First People’s Hospital would be thrilled to have you join us,” Liu Yuanxiao said with a smile, extending an olive branch.

Upon hearing this, Ye Haochuan immediately shook his head: ”Director Liu, I appreciate your kindness, but I’m a carefree person who doesn’t like to be tied down.”

”What a pity!”

After exchanging pleasantries, Liu Vice Director did not press further and refrained from disturbing Ye Haochuan and the others again.

Shortly after, Ye Haochuan successfully treated Zhang Chong’s hereditary heart condition, leaving Zhang Chong stumped on how to adequately express his gratitude. Ultimately, he insisted on following Ye Haochuan wherever he went.

Left with no other options, Ye Haochuan called Li Wenfeng. Currently, Dragon Network was in need of talented individuals, and with Zhang Chong’s expertise in computers, there couldn’t have been a better match.
