System Awakened: I Became the Mafia Kings' Obsession

Chapter 88: 88:I’m obsessed with you

”Hubby, are you hiding something from me?” she questioned.

The atmosphere in the room instantly shifted, growing heavy and thick with suspicion. Complete silence took over as Nova stared unblinkingly at Raymond, her gaze sharp and calmly waiting for his response.

Raymond smiled warmly. ”I... I’m not,” he replied.

Nova’s gaze didn’t relax, she clearly wasn’t convinced by his reply. ”You sure?” she asked.

Cassian stared at Raymond and then back at Nova. ”Darling, he’s not a kid. Don’t worry, he can take care of himself,” he interrupted, breaking the tension.

Nova lowered her head slightly. ”Foggy face,” Nova called inwardly.

The air suddenly froze. Anah materialized out of thin air with a bowl of white rice in hand, eating calmly as she floated toward Raymond, her eyes scanning him.

After a short moment, she turned her head toward Nova. A defeated sigh escaped her lips as she continued shoveling food into her foggy mouth. ”Let me tell you something,” she said. ”The faster you complete the missions, the more powerful you and I will become. The more you drag on the missions, the more limited my powers are.” She kept right on eating.

Nova stared at her, her hand pausing in Alan’s hair. ”Hm?” she questioned.

”You want me to check what he’s hiding, but unfortunately, I don’t have access to that. The system can’t provide all needed abilities at once especially on your men. Just like now, I tried scanning his thoughts, but I couldn’t get any data from them,” she explained between bites.

Nova clenched her fists tightly.

”Don’t worry, the system will flag an alarm if he encounters any danger or if his life is at risk,” Anah assured, noting Nova’s silence.

Nova’s gaze turned dangerously cold. ”To actually think there would be a day I’d have to submit just to gain more power... foggy face, you really have your way this time,” she said coldly, gritting her teeth together.

Anah paused, turning her hand toward Nova. ”You are the one who didn’t take the missions seriously from the beginning, it has nothing to do with me,” she replied, resuming her meal. ”And... important notice, I hope you are aware that you can’t get your memories back if you don’t complete the missions,” she added.

”Like I give a fuck about the bullshit memories,” Nova replied in irritation.

Anah floated over to the edge of the table, sitting down on it while continuing her food. ”It’s fine if you don’t care. It’s not as if whether you care or not changes anything,” she replied calmly.

Nova glared at her.

”As long as you want your husbands safe, you will have to complete the missions,” Anah said. She suddenly pointed a finger at Raymond, and a flash of blue light shot from her fingertip straight toward Raymond’s chest, vanishing into his chest without a trace.

”Though I can’t get access to the risk of his mission, I have given him a life-saving opportunity. Even if the system flags a risk at the very last minute, he should still be alive by the time you take action,” Anah added.

Nova nodded.

”If there’s nothing else, I’ll go and finish my food,” Anah said. She summoned a few more plates of food from the table into her free hand and vanished.

Time unfroze the instant Anah left. ”Fine, but you should be safe, alright?” Nova said, staring intensely at Raymond.

Raymond nodded, pressing more kisses to Nova’s knuckles.

”When are you leaving?”

”Tonight,” Raymond replied.

”So soon?” Nova raised her brows in surprise.

Raymond chuckled softly. ”Leaving early also increases the chances of coming back early,” he said, sounding reassuring.

Nova nodded. ”Fine then,” she replied.

Cassian stared at Alan, who was now playing with Nova’s blouse. He stepped forward and calmly grabbed him by the scruff of his collar from behind.

”If not for laziness, why are you still at home at this hour? Go change into your uniform and get to school,” Cassian scolded, pulling him back before scooping Nova off her chair and lifting her into his arms.

”Are you full, my love?” Cassian asked softly.

Nova nodded.

”Let’s go and get dressed up,” Cassian murmured, carrying Nova toward his room.

Alan hissed in annoyance. ”One day I will kidnap Snow from this house and have her to myself alone for weeks before returning her,” he thought, a sudden cunning smile spreading across his lips. ”That isn’t a bad idea,I should start preparing a location for that,” he plotted, immediately rushing off to his own room.

Raymond smiled lightly, pulling his phone from his pocket and dialing a number. The phone rang a few times before connecting.

”You’re ready?” Logan’s voice echoed over the line.

”Mhm. We can set off tonight,” Raymond replied.

”Alright, I’ll make the arrangements,” Logan replied, disconnecting the call.

Raymond stared blankly at the stairs, his fist clenched tightly. ”It’ll be better to leave tonight, otherwise I’ll become a coward by tomorrow and won’t want to leave at all,” he murmured, slipping his phone back into his pocket and breathing out a heavy sigh.

”You can do this, Raymond. If I succeed and come back alive, not only will I have my own free time to keep my wife company every single day, but I’ll also have enough power to be worthy of being her husband,” he thought, his eyes burning with determination.

Cassian walked down the stairs, now dressed in a matching couple’s outfit with Nova. Still carrying Nova in one arm while his other hand supported her waist, he looked up and caught sight of Raymond.

”Want to join us?” he offered.

”Sure,” Raymond replied, standing up and approaching them—only to realize they were wearing matching outfits. ”Let me change,” he said, rushing up the stairs.

”Hey, there’s no need to change! Must you wear the exact same outfit as ours?” Cassian scoffed.

Raymond paused on the stairs and glared at Cassian. ”Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to. I won’t give you a chance—I’ll catch up shortly,” Raymond replied, continuing back up the stairs.

Cassian gritted his teeth. ”He’s definitely going to change into an outfit that matches ours,” he complained.

Nova chuckled, gazing up at Cassian. ”I told you there was no need for couple’s outfits, but you’re just obsessed with showing off.”

Cassian smiled warmly, his expression softening. ”I’m not obsessed with just showing off. I’m obsessed with you,” he replied, letting out a soft laugh as he carried her toward the door.
