Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1144: Chapter 1143: Mingyue Cliff

”Then I really ought to thank you two.”

The corner of Ling Chen’s mouth curled slightly. He’d more or less figured it out—these two were planning to use this trial as an excuse to give him a beating and vent their anger.

These two bastards probably didn’t intend to take his life.

If they truly harbored killing intent toward him, then this matter would be of a completely different nature.

Ling Chen had never shown mercy to those who wanted him dead.

If others wanted him to die, he would make sure they died before him.

”No need to thank us, this is just our duty as senior brothers.”

Leng Qianshang also let out a chilly laugh. He didn’t believe that he and Gu Wuqing together still wouldn’t be able to deal with Ling Chen.

The Thunder Sound Sword in Ling Chen’s hand pointed at Gu Wuqing and Leng Qianshang. Threads of lightning swept across the blade, as if eager to be unleashed.

Seeing this, the expressions of Gu Wuqing and Leng Qianshang immediately turned solemn. If Ling Chen went all out, even they would have to take it seriously.

True Qi surged madly from the two men’s bodies, their Cultivation pushed to the limit. Threads of True Qi overflowed from within, forming a massive cloud of True Qi that completely wrapped around their bodies.

However, in the very next instant after putting on a desperate-fight posture, Ling Chen suddenly turned and shot into the dense forest behind him, withdrawing from their sight at an astonishing speed.

”Where do you think you’re going!”

The faces of Gu Wuqing and Leng Qianshang both changed. They had never expected Ling Chen to actually choose to run, and to run this fast.

But when they gave chase, where could they still see any sign of Ling Chen?

With all his strength, Ling Chen pushed his Sword Controlling Technique to the extreme; his speed was even faster than that of ordinary Saints.

”What a crafty brat.”

A gloomy light flashed in Leng Qianshang’s eyes. He punched a nearby large tree, leaving a thick crack in the trunk. To think they’d plotted so meticulously and gone to such trouble, yet in the end still couldn’t do a thing to Ling Chen.

”Forget it, let him go for now.”

Gu Wuqing waved his hand and said, ”Finish the trial mission first.”

”Looks like that’s all we can do.”

Although Leng Qianshang was extremely unwilling, there was nothing he could do. The Demon Dragon Palace’s scope was too vast; once Ling Chen’s trail was lost, trying to find him again would be far too difficult.

The two of them flickered and disappeared into the dense forest.

...

”If I get tangled up with those two, it’ll definitely be a huge hassle.”

By now Ling Chen had already flown a good distance away. His choice to flee wasn’t because he feared those two, but because he didn’t want to waste time on them. After all, both were Heavenly Pride level geniuses—if they really clung to him, shaking them off would be hard.

Having shaken off those two, Ling Chen began to focus on the trial mission.

Collect fifty Yinsha Stones.

Yinsha Stones usually grew in dark, cold places. After leaving that stretch of Primitive Forest, Ling Chen headed south all the way and arrived at the base of a deep, sheer cliff.

Before long, he discovered a Yinsha Stone that glimmered with ghostly light in a crack in the rocks.

”Looks like this area produces Yinsha Stones.”

After taking down the Yinsha Stone, Ling Chen’s eyes lit up slightly. In the entire Demon Dragon Palace, there were probably only a fixed few places where Yinsha Stones were produced, and this cliff before him was clearly one of them.

To collect more Yinsha Stones, he would have to head deeper into this cliff.

Ling Chen raised his head and looked into the depths of the cliff. Multicolored miasma shrouded the entire mountain, completely obscuring the cliff’s true form. He could only make out a vague outline.

Vaguely, Ling Chen sensed an extremely dangerous aura coming from deep within, making him involuntarily shiver.

Ling Chen took out the map and spread it on the ground, examining it carefully.

This was a map of the Demon Dragon Palace Ling Chen had prepared in advance, with the terrain of the Demon Dragon Underworld sketched out in bits and pieces. Of course, this map was by no means complete; some areas were not recorded at all.

Thus, there were many gray regions marked on the map—each patch of gray signified an unknown area.

After studying it, Ling Chen finally confirmed his location. He tapped the map with his finger. ”I should be here... Mingyue Cliff!”

There was text marked on the map: Mingyue Cliff, the place where the Mingyue Heavenly Demon fell.

Three hundred years ago, the Mingyue Heavenly Demon cultivated evil arts, slaughtered tens of millions of warriors, and brought calamity to the world, stirring up a bloody storm across the Southern Land of the Nine Provinces. This drew out the joint intervention of Xuanwu Sword Saint of the Great Mysterious Heavenly Dao and Void Buddhist Saint of Cloud Mud Temple, who joined forces to battle the Mingyue Heavenly Demon.

The final battlefield between both sides was right atop this cliff.

From then on, the Mingyue Heavenly Demon vanished without a trace, completely disappearing from the Jianghu.

The world thus tacitly assumed that the Mingyue Heavenly Demon had perished here. This cliff subsequently came to be called ”Mingyue Cliff.”

”The place where a demon fell... could there be some unexpected danger hidden here?”

Ling Chen put away the map and stared at the gloomy region in the distance, hesitating slightly.

If his Cultivation had reached the Sky Apex Realm, he would definitely charge in without looking back. But he was only at the Eighth Layer of Sky Apex Realm right now. Many places in the Demon Dragon Palace couldn’t be entered recklessly, or the risk of dying would be very high.

”Forget it, being timid isn’t my style. If it really comes down to it, I still have Senior Shen’s Phoenix drawing in hand, which can help me survive a calamity.”

After his gaze flickered for a moment, Ling Chen made up his mind. With his current strength, even if he encountered a Saint of the Second Realm, he wouldn’t fear them in the slightest. Even a Saint of the Third Level wouldn’t be able to instant-kill him. As long as he had a bit of time to release the ice-blue Phoenix from that painting, he could turn danger into safety.

If worse came to worst, he could crush the Jade Talisman and summon Spiritual Heart Saint and the Seven Elders. As long as the two of them weren’t too far away, they should make it in time to rescue him.

With a cautiously wary attitude, Ling Chen stepped into the dim miasma.

Not long after Ling Chen entered the depths of the cliff, several figures appeared where he had originally been.

These people all wore uniform black standard robes, with a Flaming emblem embroidered on the chest of each Black-robed garment.

This was the symbol of Desolate Fire City, One of the Eight Great Super Sects.

”Brother Yuwen, this is Mingyue Cliff, the place where the Mingyue Heavenly Demon fell. Didn’t you say you wanted to look for Treasure? I think this place is pretty good. Maybe that demon left some great Treasure at the bottom of Mingyue Cliff when he died.”

The speaker’s eyes were gloomy—he was precisely Wei Renjie, whom Ling Chen had encountered at the auction on Lotus Island that day.

And the red-haired Male at his side was clearly Yuwen Lin.

Behind them, several Desolate Fire City Disciples followed. Their auras were all strong; the weakest was at the Seventh Realm of Sky Apex. They were clearly all Core disciples.

”Let’s go, we’ll go in and take a look!”

Yuwen Lin nodded. Although their trial mission this time was to collect Yinsha Stones, such a task posed little difficulty to him. His main purpose in entering the Demon Dragon Palace this time was actually to search for Treasure and try his luck.

ps: I’ve opened a WeChat public account today, the name is ”竹林之大贤” (The Great Sage of the Bamboo Grove). Brothers and sisters can search and follow it. In the future, when I have time, I’ll write some Empress side stories, as well as some of the indescribable segments that were cut from the main text and so on. In short, there’s no downside to following, hehe.
