Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1105: Chapter 1104: Movements

Not only Zhou Qingqing felt a bit confused, but the other disciples in her group also seemed as bewildered as monks unable to fathom Ling Chen’s intentions.

Zhou Qingqing had just pressed Ling Chen aggressively, with quite a ruthless attitude, and now Ling Chen had the chance to retaliate against her. Logically, he shouldn’t miss such an excellent opportunity to humiliate Zhou Qingqing, but surprisingly, Ling Chen didn’t play by the rules and instead promoted Zhou Qingqing.

”What’s this guy’s game?”

Gu Wuqing and Leng Qianshang were equally puzzled. Though neither had any interest in the unprofitable vice leader position, they both had more qualifications than Zhou Qingqing. Why then, did Ling Chen choose Zhou Qingqing over them?

For Ling Chen, there were naturally his own considerations in making this decision.

On one hand, he didn’t have the energy to lead the group, yet he wanted to receive that extra portion of the Saint Body Ointment, so he needed someone in charge.

Furthermore, this person must possess strength and command respect. Ling Chen originally considered appointing Lin Wan as the vice leader, but her strength and ability to garner respect seemed lacking, so the position had to be given to someone else.

Neither Gu Wuqing nor Leng Qianshang were people Ling Chen could control. Only Zhou Qingqing, though somewhat overbearing, was not deeply scheming and could be managed.

Moreover, Zhou Qingqing possessed high popularity among Lingyue Island’s core disciples, especially male disciples, so appointing her as vice leader wouldn’t face much opposition.

”Exactly. Do you want to accept my appointment or would you prefer I deal with you in another way? You choose one of these paths.”

Ling Chen said indifferently.

”I accept!”

Zhou Qingqing hurriedly nodded, though reluctant to act as Ling Chen’s assistant and be ordered around by him. Compared to being humiliated by him, this cost was undoubtedly lighter.

Furthermore, Ling Chen gave her a choice this time and did not do as she expected by taking advantage of her, which made her see him in a different light; this guy didn’t seem so detestable after all.

”Good, in that case, the position of vice leader belongs to you, Zhou Qingqing.”

Ling Chen nodded indifferently; everything remained under his control, but then his tone changed, saying: ”However, I must warn you not to do anything disrespectful or insubordinate to me. Otherwise, it won’t be so easy next time.”

”Yes, Leader.”

Zhou Qingqing quickly bowed, showing much more obedience, though she had no choice. Her previous backers, the Heavenly Pride level senior brothers Leng Qianshang and Gu Wuqing, were now unreliable, leaving her to rely on herself to get along under Ling Chen’s leadership. Now, she could only work to improve her relationship with Ling Chen, with no other options.

”This guy dares to take the leader position; does he really have the nerve to join the ranks of the youth generation’s Divine Marquis within less than half a year?”

Leng Qianshang still felt surprised; he had witnessed Ling Chen’s strength, maybe they were evenly matched, but even so, there was still a significant gap to the level of the Twelve Divine Marquises. Could Ling Chen honestly believe he could bridge this gap and elevate his capabilities to an even higher level in such a short time?

Beside him, Gu Wuqing seemed indifferent, ”There are countless talents in the Nine Provinces, with many young heroes vying for the rank of Divine Marquis. Although Ling Chen’s strength isn’t bad, at most, he’s at the Heavenly Pride level. Achieving Divine Marquis status isn’t that easy.”

Throughout Lingyue Island, with over ten thousand disciples, there had been only one Free and Unrestrained Marquis born. If becoming a Divine Marquis were easy, he and Gu Wuqing would be among them already.

Meanwhile, within that group of disciples, there was a sneaky-looking figure in blue robes, casting glances at Ling Chen not far away.

”Ling Chen, to think he not only survived but also became the direct disciple of Elder Shen Bingxin. This is truly shocking news.”

The figure was also a core disciple of Lingyue Island, his eyes constantly darting around, muttering to himself: ”I must quickly report this news to Elder Huangfu. That old guy is willing to pay a high price for information on Ling Chen. If another disciple steals the lead, it’ll be regrettable.”

With that, he quietly withdrew from the crowd and disappeared.

...

Outside Lingyue Island, on a deserted island.

Two figures paced back and forth, their expressions showing slight anxiety, evidently awaiting something.

The two, one an old man in gray robes, and the other wearing a golden mask, were the gray-robed elder of the Huangfu Clan and the God-catchers.

They hadn’t given up tracking Ling Chen. After some expense, they finally reached out to a core disciple of Lingyue Island who, due to ties with the Huangfu Clan, was willing to help them gather information on Ling Chen.

Not long ago, the disciple had already sent them a message, indicating important news.

The two thus waited at this spot.

Swoosh!

In mid-air, a figure carrying puppet wings suddenly flew over and landed on the deserted island.

”He’s here!”

The gray-robed elder, upon seeing the newcomer land, suddenly showed a hint of joy on his face.

”Elder Huangfu.”

The newcomer was a young man in blue robes. He simply cupped his hands towards the gray-robed elder and spoke quietly, ”Regarding Ling Chen, whom you asked me to inquire about, I saw him today.”

”Is that so? He really hasn’t died?”

Both the gray-robed elder and the God-catcher had their pupils contract almost at the same time, then spoke in a deep voice.

The young man in blue robes shook his head, ”Not only is he not dead, but he has also become the direct disciple of our Second Elder of Lingyue Island—Elder Shen Bingxin. And just moments ago, he was appointed by the Spiritual Heart Saint as the leader of the first group of core disciples. His reputation among the disciples has soared, and he is at the height of his success.”

”Damn it! That lucky brat!”

The gray-robed elder gritted his teeth in anger. Initially thinking Ling Chen was doomed, he didn’t expect the latter to have such luck, not only surviving but joining Lingyue Island successfully and thriving. If he hadn’t heard it with his own ears, he could hardly believe it was true.

Upon hearing the news, the God-catcher beside him also had a sullen look. This brat was proving very difficult to deal with.

”Elder Huangfu, I’ve delivered the message, what about the promised reward...” The young man in blue robes reminded.

”Oh, almost forgot, nephew Lu, here, this is your reward.”

The gray-robed elder hurriedly flipped his palm, took out a storage ring, and handed it to the young man in blue robes.

Taking the ring, the young man in blue robes checked its contents and then nodded with satisfaction, ”Thank you for your generous gift, Elder Huangfu. However, I advise you not to target Ling Chen anymore. His mentor, Elder Shen Bingxin, is not easy to provoke. If she learns you’re targeting her disciple, she likely won’t let you go easily.”

Although both the gray-robed elder and the God-catcher are saints, compared to Shen Bingxin, there is still a considerable difference, or rather, they are simply not in the same league.

”We know that. That brat is indeed difficult to provoke,”

The gray-robed elder’s eyes glistened slightly, ”But nephew Lu, Ling Chen has already formed an irreconcilable enmity with our Huangfu Clan. This feud can’t be resolved. I won’t ask you to do anything else. I’ll give you double the benefits, just help me keep an eye on that brat. If he shows any sign of leaving the sect, you must notify us at once!”

The young man in blue robes frowned. Initially, he didn’t want to get involved anymore, but upon hearing the words ”double the reward,” he finally gritted his teeth and nodded, ”Alright, but this is the last time!”

”Many thanks, nephew!”

The gray-robed elder finally smiled and watched the young man in blue robes leave. Once the latter disappeared, the smile on his face also vanished suddenly, replaced by a cold and chilling expression.

”Didn’t expect that brat to have such a big life.”

The God-catcher frowned tightly. Had they known earlier, they should have desperately tried to kill Ling Chen when they were on Lingyue Island, ending it once and for all, and not leaving behind such a big tail now.

A person like Ling Chen, if you can’t kill him the first or second time, he becomes increasingly difficult to kill later on. In the end, it’s likely that even he, the God-catcher, could die at Ling Chen’s hands.

”God-catcher, we’ve missed several opportunities already. The next chance, I suppose, will be our final chance. You better use all your means, otherwise, we will have no chance to kill Ling Chen again.”

The gray-robed elder looked at the God-catcher with a very solemn expression.

”I know that naturally. Rest assured, this time, I’ll directly use my most secret tricks.”

The God-catcher nodded. At this critical point, being cautious would just be stupid.

”That’s good.”

The gray-robed elder nodded. This time, not only was the God-catcher going to give his all, but he was too, and moreover, he had requested the Huangfu Clan for assistance, asking for another saint to come and join forces to kill Ling Chen, leaving him no chance to survive.

As long as Ling Chen dares to leave Lingyue Island, he is confident he can make Ling Chen disappear from this world completely!

As for the Empress’s wrath and Elder Shen Bingxin, as long as they do it cleanly, there shouldn’t be anyone knowing they were behind it, as long as no evidence is left.

”Ling Chen, hope you don’t hide for too long...”

The gray-robed elder’s eyes flickered. If Ling Chen stays on Lingyue Island continuously, he would be helpless against Ling Chen. He can only pray that Ling Chen would quickly leave Lingyue Island to venture outside; Ling Chen must die one day, or he won’t have peace for a day.
