Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 1142: Chapter 1141: Trial Mission

Ling Chen’s gaze fell on that group. Among them was a man in a blue robe, about twenty-seven or twenty-eight, with an unrestrained temperament and a bearing that stood out from the crowd. Among those twelve Disciples, he was like a crane among chickens.

On his clothes was embroidered the image of a Kunpeng, with faint True Qi circulating over it, adding even more of a carefree, at-ease air to him.

Although Ling Chen had never seen this person before, he still recognized him at first glance.

Free and Unrestrained Marquis.

He really lived up to his name.

The Free and Unrestrained Marquis’s gaze also swept over to Ling Chen. At the instant their eyes met, his expression seemed to change ever so slightly, then he nodded slightly in the direction of Ling Chen and Lin Wan.

Ling Chen was slightly surprised in his heart. It seemed this Senior Brother Free and Unrestrained Marquis should also know of the existence of this Junior Brother of his.

”Junior Sister Lin Xin, I’ve been waiting here for you quite a while.”

Seeing Ling Chen’s group appear, that white-clothed Seven Elders revealed a faint smile on his face.

Spiritual Heart Saint helplessly spread out her small hands and said, ”We ran into a little situation on the way and came late.”

The Seven Elders nodded and said, ”Since everyone’s here, then let’s get ready to begin.”

”Same old rules. This time entering the Demon Dragon Palace, you must complete a certain collection task before you can come out. This trial’s task is for each person to collect fifty Yinsha Stones.”

Hearing this, those Disciples weren’t all that surprised. Yinsha Stones were a rather common strange stone in this Demon Dragon Palace, found nowhere else. A task of fifty Yinsha Stones wasn’t too difficult.

”However, on this basis, there is an additional task. If you can complete this additional task, you will receive an extra reward.”

Just then, the voice of the Seven Elders rang out again.

”Additional task?”

The eyes of many Disciples lit up, a bit of expectation rising within them.

Normally, the rewards for additional tasks were much greater than those for the trial tasks. Of course, the difficulty of the additional tasks would also be much greater.

”That’s right. This additional task is to kill a quasi–Five-Grade or higher level Exotic Beast. If anyone can complete the additional task, they’ll receive an extra five million points of Sect Contribution Points.”

The voice of the Seven Elders spread through the crowd.

”Hunting a quasi–Five-Grade Exotic Beast, that’s way too hard.”

Most Lingyue Island disciples shook their heads. The Unicorn Flood Dragon that Spiritual Heart Saint had defeated earlier was a quasi–Five-Grade Exotic Beast. Although there were some weaker ones among quasi–Five-Grade Exotic Beasts, they still weren’t something they could contend with.

”Now I’ll distribute a Jade Talisman to each of you. This Jade Talisman is for you to use when you’re in danger. Once you foresee that you’re in danger, immediately crush the Jade Talisman. Junior Sister Lin Xin and I will be able to sense your location.”

At some point, twenty-four white, moon-shaped Jade Talismans had appeared in the hand of the Seven Elders. With a flick of his palm, the twenty-four Jade Talismans shot out, turning into beams of light that flew toward the twenty-four Disciples present.

Ling Chen stretched out his hand and caught the beam of light in front of him, clenching the Jade Talisman in his palm. A strange fluctuation instantly spread through his hand.

”All right, everyone get ready. Enter the Demon Dragon Palace.”

With that, the Seven Elders moved and leaped, diving into that abyss, his body falling toward the bottom.

Behind him, the twelve Disciples of the second group swiftly followed.

At the call of Spiritual Heart Saint, the Disciples of the first group also swept down into the abyss. However, Ling Chen had only just entered the abyss when he felt a slight dizziness—that was a sign of Poison.

The miasma in the abyss was extremely vicious. Fortunately, Ling Chen had the Divine Dragon Jade protecting his body. After the miasma entered him, it was absorbed and purified in a very short time, vanishing without a trace.

Advancing into the depths of the misty miasma, the group landed on a stone platform. In their line of sight were one dark hole after another leading down into the earth, their destinations unknown. No one knew which one was the entrance to the Demon Dragon Palace.

Without someone familiar with this place to lead the way, one would likely get lost here very easily.

The white-robed Seven Elders stood at the very front of the group. His Cultivation was extremely vigorous; he had likely already reached the Saint Realm Third Layer. A vast layer of blue True Qi surged out from around his body, pushing away the surrounding miasma and opening up a path for them.

”It’s here.”

The Seven Elders stopped in the middle of a gorge. He struck his palm against the nearby cliff wall, sending dust flying. Beneath the thick layer of dirt and ash was actually a mottled stone door.

The stone door was ten meters tall and several feet thick. Its surface was inlaid with black iron, forming the shape of an iron dragon.

”Junior Sister Lin Xin.”

The Seven Elders looked toward Spiritual Heart Saint. The latter nodded slightly, then came to stand beside him. The two of them moved almost simultaneously, pressing their palms against the stone door and circulating their True Qi with all their strength as they pushed hard.

Rumble!

In Ling Chen’s slightly surprised gaze, the stone door loosened just a little, a crack opening up. Even with the combined strength of the Seven Elders and Spiritual Heart Saint, they still couldn’t push the stone door open in one go.

Under their continued effort, the stone door finally swung open, revealing a passage.

”Go!”

Before the stone door had even fully opened, figures were already shooting inside, streaming in one after another.

Inside the stone door.

After entering through the stone door, Ling Chen felt the air turn cold in an instant. In his vision was a vast, rather dark expanse. Everywhere were piles of pitch-black rubble and Rock mountains. In the far distance, there seemed to be an ancient Primitive Forest, exuding faint threads of ferocious, baleful aura.

This region was precisely the Demon Dragon Palace.

Swoosh swoosh swoosh swoosh!

After entering the Demon Dragon Palace, the Lingyue Island disciples each leaped up, turning into streaks of flowing light that disappeared into the air.

Originally, before setting out, Ling Chen had wanted to go greet the Free and Unrestrained Marquis. But when he came in here, he no longer saw any sign of him.

It seemed the other party had already gone deeper into this region.

”Since we’re all here, there’ll be chances to meet.”

Ling Chen wasn’t in a rush. This Senior Brother of his looked extremely cold; he probably wasn’t easy to get close to.

He wasn’t the type to fawn over someone who didn’t care to respond. If they happened to meet, of course he’d say hello. If they didn’t, he wouldn’t force it.

With a tap of his foot, Ling Chen stepped onto the strand of sword light condensed from the Thunder Sound Sword and flew toward the depths of the Demon Dragon Palace.

However, just as Ling Chen’s figure had barely shot out, from two different directions behind him, two figures simultaneously burst out, charging toward the direction he had departed in.
