Chapter 1135: Chapter 1134: Secret Treasury Trial

”Ling Chen, by resolving the stubborn poison within Junior Sister Shen Bingxin and saving her life, you have accomplished a monumental deed for my Lingyue Island.”

The speaker was the Great Elder of Lingyue Island, her gaze fixed on Ling Chen with a look of considerable satisfaction on her face.

”As a disciple, saving the life of one’s mentor is a duty.”

Ling Chen spoke unhurriedly.

”You can’t say that. Regardless, it was you who risked your life to save Sister Shen. Here on Lingyue Island, we never hesitate to reward disciples who have achieved merit.” The Great Elder shook her head and said.

”Everything follows the Great Elder’s decision.”

Ling Chen appeared indifferent, seeming to accept things as they come, but in reality, he was somewhat eager to see how the Great Elder would reward him, as a super sect like Lingyue Island was sure to offer something valuable.

”The specifics of the reward will be decided by the Island Master.” The Great Elder glanced at the Saint Purple Heart beside her.

Receiving the responsibilities passed on by the Great Elder, the Saint Purple Heart pondered for a moment, then seemed to think of something, her eyes brightened slightly, saying, ”On the first day of the next month, it’s the day of the sect’s Secret Treasury Trial. Initially, the Secret Treasury Trial was only open to core disciples who have been in the sect for more than three years, but in light of your recent endeavor in saving Sister Shen Bingxin, I can specially allow you to participate in this trial.”

”The Secret Treasury Trial?”

Ling Chen’s eyes lit up slightly. The so-called Secret Treasury Trial was a trial conducted by super sects for their disciples, gathering them into a secret realm for assessments and trials during a specific period.

Originally, the Secret Treasury Trial of Lingyue Island was supposed to be conducted only for the strong, seasoned disciples, as every known secret treasury on the Nine Provinces Land was an extremely perilous place. Without sufficient prowess, entering these secret treasuries recklessly was tantamount to walking into certain death.

”Thank you, Island Master, for your generosity.”

Ling Chen bowed to the Saint Purple Heart. Although no tangible benefit was offered, this opportunity for the Secret Treasury Trial was exceedingly rare. If exploited well, improving his prowess further was not out of reach.

”Now, prepare well.”

Shen Bingxin nodded towards Ling Chen as an indication.

”Disciple takes his leave.”

Ling Chen bowed towards Shen Bingxin and the Saint Purple Heart and others, then, relieved, he immediately exited the Ice Cave.

After Ling Chen left, the Fourth Elder looked at Shen Bingxin with some amusement, teasing, ”This boy seems promising, with great potential for the future. Even if he were to become Sister Shen’s partner, it wouldn’t be beneath you.”

”Old Fourth, if you dare make fun of me again, I’ll not spare you once I recover.”

Shen Bingxin gave the Fourth Elder a glance, her slightly cold stare shutting the Fourth Elder’s mouth immediately; she knew that saying another word might really anger Sister Shen.

”Fourth Elder, since this matter is a misunderstanding, let’s not mention it again.” Saint Purple Heart also looked at the Fourth Elder and said.

”Understood.”

The Fourth Elder nodded with a more solemn expression.

”Sister Shen, you have just overcome the stubborn poison and are recovering from a serious illness. Your body will need time to recuperate before it can fully recover. During this period, take a rest at the Heavenly Moon Spirit Pool.”

Saint Purple Heart’s gaze landed on Shen Bingxin.

The Heavenly Moon Spirit Pool was a restricted area on Lingyue Island, accessible only to elders and the Island Master. The pool was established by the first Island Master of Lingyue Island and then perfected by successive Lingyue Island powerhouses, becoming a significant site on the island. It was tailored for the island’s members, allowing Shen Bingxin to recover her body and strength in the shortest amount of time.

Shen Bingxin did not say much, nodding, but then she spoke, ”During my absence, please look after that boy for me.”

”Rest assured.”

Saint Purple Heart nodded, ”Although his background is somewhat complex, since he’s joined my Lingyue Island and become your direct disciple, we naturally recognize his status.”

”Currently, as the clan leader of the core disciple’s first group, his achievements hold great potential. Even if you hadn’t requested, we’d still list him as a key training target.”

Originally, with Ling Chen’s complex background, joining Lingyue Island and rapidly becoming a direct disciple seemed impossible. However, due to Shen Bingxin’s influence, a special exception was made for Ling Chen, who has now entered the sect and will be treated equally with other Lingyue Island talents.

Besides, Ling Chen neutralizing the Fire Poison in Shen Bingxin’s body has eased some of their concerns. Whether Ling Chen genuinely joined Lingyue Island or merely sought temporary leverage remains to be seen.

”Sister Shen’s discerning eye remains sharp as ever. This boy might not be much inferior to his senior, Free and Unrestrained Marquis.”

After Shen Bingxin left, Saint Purple Heart pondered with a flicker in her gaze.

”Isn’t the Island Master overestimating this boy? Compared to his senior, Free and Unrestrained Marquis, he might still have some gaps.”

The Fourth Elder expressed astonishment, evidently surprised by Saint Purple Heart’s high assessment of Ling Chen.

Free and Unrestrained Marquis was the first among Lingyue Island’s younger generation and ranked among the elite talents across the Nine Province Sect Realm. Ling Chen, although titled as the top genius of the younger generation, originally held that title only in a worldly context, and its weight might be diminished within the Nine Province Sect Realm.

”I somewhat agree with the Island Master’s perspective.”

The speaker was the Great Elder. After pondering, she said, ”Considering the complexity of Fire Poison, which we all experienced, that even we couldn’t tackle, but Ling Chen managed to resolve it completely. It indeed showcases his extraordinary nature.”

”That merely indicates his prowess in detoxifying, but not elsewhere.”

The Fourth Elder shook her head.

”It’s merely my conjecture. Whether he’s a mule or a horse, a talent or a mediocrity, the truth will be revealed at the Nine-stream Conference.”

Saint Purple Heart spoke nonchalantly.

The others nodded one after another. The Nine-stream Conference was a touchstone for the younger generation’s strength. If Ling Chen could truly rival Free and Unrestrained Marquis, he at least needed to surpass the level of Heavenly Pride at the upcoming conference and become one of the Twelve Divine Marquises.
