Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 195: Chapter 139: Hidden Quest, the Baron’s Gamble_4

”Hidden task? Golden Hall?”

He showed a look of surprise and immediately synchronized the task information with his two companions.

Upon hearing his words, Lin Ji and Bian Guanyue’s eyes also flashed with joy.

”So the hidden task requires two hundred chips to trigger! Luckily, we exchanged with that pig-headed person, otherwise, we might have missed this task.” Lin Ji said joyfully.

Hidden tasks usually mean great opportunities!

”Don’t get too happy too soon, don’t forget this is a world centered around gambling. Even if it’s an opportunity, it might leave you bankrupt.” Song Lichuan warned.

While the three were conversing, suddenly two figures flew over from afar.

It was two Knight Gamblers inviting Song Lichuan to the Golden Hall.

The other two were also invited.

Song Lichuan wanted to stabilize with a knight gambling game first, but the two directly refused with a smile, suggesting to meet the Baron first; they weren’t foolish, after all. If they lost, their tier might be stripped, and there was a life risk. Bullying regular gamblers with only forty chips was one thing, but facing someone with two hundred chips was another.

Song Lichuan was also helpless; he hadn’t expected such a twist, but at this point, he could only take it one step at a time.

Soon, everyone followed the two Knight Gamblers into the legendary Golden Hall.

The hall was located right at the center of the Baron Castle, and just as its name suggested, it was adorned with golden decorations everywhere. As soon as you stepped through the door, an overwhelming sense of luxury greeted you.

The most eye-catching sight was the rows upon rows of display shelves on both sides of the hall, orderly arrayed with various weapons and equipment, from Warrior Tier to Fierce Tier. A quick glance showed they were all Upper Grade or above, including some Perfect ones! There were over a hundred items in total!

At the far end of the hall, on the central wall, hung a colossal round shield, with golden stripes radiating outward, emitting an astonishing energy wave, akin to a real sun. Even from a distance, Song Lichuan and the others could confirm it was definitely a piece of Legend Equipment! And its True Tier was absolutely very high!

Even though Song Lichuan and the others had substantial resources, at this moment, their eyes revealed a burning desire.

Legend-tier equipment is extremely precious to anyone.

”Are the three of you interested in this Sun Shield?”

At this moment, a gentle voice spoke out.

The three turned their heads to see a stone man in a broad robe with a kind visage walking down, followed by a long, slender silver robot with a smooth exterior.

As the stone man appeared, the two guiding knights saluted in unison, ”Baron.”

The stone man waved his hand, continuing to speak to Song Lichuan and the others: ”I stumbled upon this shield by chance and have kept it in this Golden Hall ever since. Many have tried to obtain it, yet none have succeeded. Would the three young friends like to give it a try?”

Lin Ji and Bian Guanyue both looked at Song Lichuan, who cautiously replied, ”Baron, we don’t have enough chips to meet your gambling demands.”

Hearing this, the Baron waved his hand nonchalantly and smiled kindly, ”You don’t need to be so tense. This Golden Hall’s gambling differs from the outside; there won’t be any traps. I don’t care about winning or losing; it’s purely for the joy of gambling.”

”You can choose when to gamble and what to gamble on, and if you decide not to play anymore, you can leave anytime without anyone stopping you.”

One of the Knights chimed in as well, ”The Baron, appointed by the King, holds gambling in great esteem and won’t resort to the tricks those commoners outside employ.”

”On the contrary, everyone qualified to enter the Golden Hall will receive a gift from the Baron.”

”There’s no need for you all to worry.”

Their words visibly eased Lin Ji’s expression, but Song Lichuan remained unmoved, simply saying, ”Could the Baron please explain the rules?”

The Baron nodded and looked toward the robot behind him, ”Let’s play Texas Hold’em today.”

The latter then stepped forward to explain the rules to everyone.

The rules here were no different from the Texas Hold’em that Song Lichuan and the others were familiar with, though it was known by a different name in this world; the Abyss’s translation ability had accurately translated it to Texas Hold’em.

Specifically, each player is dealt two hole cards, with five community cards placed on the table. Each person must combine their two hole cards with the five community cards to select the best five-card hand; the highest hand wins.

There are four rounds in total: the first round deals the hole cards, the second round deals three community cards, and each of the next two rounds deals one community card. In every round, players can choose to raise, call, or fold.

This is a very fair and competitive gambling game, and there are even specialized events for it on Blue Star.

Moreover, to dispel any doubts, the Baron further clarified three points:

First, he absolutely won’t use any cheating methods; this rule is written down, and he won’t break it, although contestants can cheat as long as they aren’t caught by the Notary.

Second, contestants can exchange any item for Destiny Chips; the Notary will provide a completely fair valuation.

Third, every lost chip will be converted into tokens, which can be used to exchange for items in the Baron’s treasury, meaning, even if you lose everything right away, you can still exchange for good items!
