Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 187: Chapter 137: Path to Clearing the Trial_2

The ruler of this city is a Baron, with one Knight and four Knights under his command.

The level of a gambler can grant them special blessings, the most direct manifestation being the ”Bet Chain” and the ”Notary”. The higher the level of the gambler, the stronger their ”Bet Chain” and the higher tier their ”Notary” will be.

In addition, a gambler’s level also determines the maximum number of Destiny Chips they can hold. For example, a civilian-level gambler can hold up to forty chips. Once they have forty or more, the Bet Chain will summon nearby Knight Gamblers for a bet.

This is to prevent low-level gamblers from having too much luck, thus disrupting the fairness of the game.

There are only two ways to improve a gambler’s level. The first is to win a bet against a higher-tier existence in the ”Death Games”, thus replacing them. Alternatively, winning consecutively against eight same-tier opponents and taking their lives as a sacrifice can also result in a promotion.

The other way is receiving a conferment from the ”King” or ”God”, which is extremely rare. At least at Chu Xiu’s level, it’s out of reach.

”I see, this trial isn’t as simple as I thought. It’s not just about winning enough chips in bets but also about engaging in ’Death Games’ with Knight-tier gamblers to seize their tier.”

”Four Knights, just right for our four Awakened ones to gamble with?”

Chu Xiu thought to himself.

According to the Masked Man, Knight-tier gamblers are usually Fierce-grade powerhouses, with stronger and more intelligent Notaries. The binding effect of the Bet Chain will also increase, meaning it becomes harder to win by methods outside of gambling.

As for the Baron, he is undoubtedly General-tier!

Thinking of this, Chu Xiu pondered and asked, ”What happens if you attack a Notary?”

”The Notary will counterattack immediately, and any nearby Notaries who witness the attack will help.”

”At the same time, you’ll suffer repercussions from the Bet Chain, and others’ Bet Chains will be automatically mobilized to assist.”

Chu Xiu nodded: ”Go attack a Notary and see.”

”Huh???” The Masked Man was stunned.

Chu Xiu sneered: ”Didn’t you say you’d do anything earlier?”

The Masked Man hesitated before gritting his teeth and grabbed a nearby shotgun, blasting one of the Notaries!

Amidst the explosive crackle of burning gunpowder, a Notary was blown away, its tuxedo torn to shreds, revealing the gray-white skin beneath. But it quickly got up and, along with four nearby Notaries, charged at the Masked Man!

At the same time, a faint green glow appeared on the Masked Man’s wrist, as his Bet Chain automatically appeared and firmly locked onto his hand!

Chu Xiu felt something; since it wasn’t an actively accepted restraint, the effect of the Bet Chain was much weaker, but still a significantly powerful negative buff.

As Chu Xiu pondered, the Masked Man, who had attacked the Notary for the first time, was so terrified that he turned and fled, at which point Chu Xiu threw several items: ”Equip them.”

The Masked Man, without any time to think, immediately followed the order.

Instantly, the Vampire Count’s Wings, Perfect Skeleton Armor, and Perfect Skeleton Long Spear were equipped on the Masked Man. With these three pieces of equipment, the Masked Man’s strength surged, ensuring short-term self-preservation, even if defeating the five Notaries wasn’t possible.

Seeing the six entangled for a long time, with even one Notary being killed without causing any extra commotion, Chu Xiu finally relaxed.

He flicked his fingers, and three Blood Curse Bone-Piercing Nails shot out, swiftly killing the remaining Notaries.

Witnessing this, any rebellious thoughts the Masked Man had due to his newfound strength quickly vanished. He obediently removed the equipment and returned it to Chu Xiu.

Seeing his compliance, Chu Xiu nodded slightly, collected the equipment, and began planning the next move.

Currently, there are actually three ways to win in the gambling games.

The first is to win the game honestly. Reviewing the bet with the Masked Man reveals that Chu Xiu wasn’t entirely without a chance. After all, the cheat of destroying evidence could only be used once. If Chu Xiu had recognized his first method of cheating earlier, or hadn’t lost the fourth round, he could possibly have won.

The second method is to decisively kill at the onset, meaning facing five Level 9 Warriors and one Level 5 Warrior with a Bet Chain and fighting on their home turf.

This is naturally easy for Chu Xiu but extremely difficult for an Ordinary Trial Taker. Only an S-Class Professional with good equipment might achieve this.

And this is just a civilian-level gamble.

As for the last method... it relies purely on strong luck.

Even with cheating, the Masked Man’s win rate isn’t one hundred percent. If Chu Xiu draws 21 in every game, no matter how the Masked Man cheats, he can only watch helplessly.

”For me, the obvious choice is to choose a decisive kill, but I still need to carefully think about how to implement it,” he thought to himself.

This scenario indeed looks quite challenging.

Chu Xiu proceeded to inquire in detail about the strength disposition of the place.

Due to the belief in the Gambling God, people in this world are very hostile to bypassing games for direct robbery, with a dedicated guard team for patrols.
