Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 174: Chapter 133: Abyss and Old Ones

”Proof of the Old Days...”

Ye Junlin silently muttered this unfamiliar term.

Qin Xiang asked, ”Have you ever thought about the question of what exactly the Abyss is? And why does it help the Awakened grow? Killing monsters allows you to level up and explode equipment, gain Cause and Effect Points, and undergoing the Awakening Trial even grants a complete world, along with various mission rewards... Could the Abyss be some kind of great benevolent entity?”

Qin Xiang’s words left Ye Junlin momentarily unsure of how to respond. Of course, he had pondered this question; in fact, anyone encountering the Abyss for the first time would have such a doubt.

But the Abyss is too mysterious for everyone—even those top-tier Awakened have barely scratched the surface in understanding it, and no one can provide an answer.

Ye Junlin shook his head, and Qin Xiang continued, ”This is because only by diving deep enough into the Abyss can it devour us. As we grow stronger by relying on the Abyssal Power, we also delve deeper into the Abyss.”

As he spoke, Qin Xiang took out a document and tossed it over: ”During your Warrior Tier trial, you must have come across the concept of Deep Diving, right?”

”This is a statistical report from the last twenty years on the depth of Deep Diving in Warrior Tier trials.”

Ye Junlin took a look and was shocked to find that the numbers were continually increasing—the average depth of Deep Diving was only 412 twenty years ago, but this year, it had risen to 917!

”Not only that, there’s also this,” Qin Xiang took out another document, ”It’s the clearance probability of world missions over the past thirty years.”

Ye Junlin glanced at it and noticed that it formed a convex curve, peaking thirteen years ago and then gradually declining.

”When people first entered the Abyss, they were unprepared, so the clearance rate was low. Later, as the government established unified management measures, centralized intelligence analysis agencies, and enhanced training and equipment levels, the success rate rapidly increased.”

”But thirteen years ago, it seems to have hit a critical point and started to slowly decline.”

”I can tell you with certainty that the overall elite level of our students has been increasing every year, never decreasing. So there is only one explanation: the difficulty of world missions is also rising, and the rate of increase is faster than our progress!”

Qin Xiang’s words finally made Ye Junlin realize the gravity of the situation.

In the Abyss, deeper depths usually mean higher difficulty and more significant danger. This means that over the past decades, Blue Star has been continuously sinking deeper into the Abyss!

At this point, Ye Junlin thought of something: ”Those Outer Realm Demons...”

”That’s right,” Qin Xiang nodded, ”This might indicate that Blue Star has already penetrated into an entirely new area.”

”In the future, we might also become like those doomsday worlds devoured by the Abyss, with no sign of vitality, completely swallowed by the Abyss.”

Now Ye Junlin finally understood why Qin Xiang, as an A-level operative, and his parents had such grave expressions.

If we cannot stop Blue Star from continuing its descent, eventually, Blue Star will end up like the human apocalypse in the Corpse Demon World!

”But what does this have to do with the Dark Night Monarch?” Ye Junlin was still somewhat puzzled, ”Can he stop Blue Star from entering the Abyss?”

”Junlin, let me ask you again,” Qin Xiang didn’t directly answer but posed another question instead, ”What do you think makes a world truly devoured by the Abyss?”

Ye Junlin was taken aback, recalling the various world materials he had read, and was momentarily stumped.

The obliteration of life? No, many worlds still have life, just not humans.

Is it the occupation by abyssal creatures? That doesn’t seem right either, like in the Transcendent Evolution World, where there aren’t many abyssal creatures, mostly local animals and plants evolving.

Ultimately, Qin Xiang provided him with the answer: ”It’s the disappearance of ’civilization’.”

”Civi...lization?”

”That’s right, let me give you an example.”

Saying this, Qin Xiang casually crumpled a piece of paper into a small ball and tossed it forward. The ball traced a precise parabolic curve and landed on the ground.

”For the same ball, I throw it with the same direction and force. Assuming no other forces intervene, would its landing point differ if I threw it a hundred times?”

Ye Junlin shook his head.

”And a thousand times?”

Ye Junlin continued to shake his head.

Qin Xiang nodded and said, ”Exactly, in the world of classical physics, everything is a predictable constant. This was a popular concept among nineteenth-century physicists known as ’Clockwork Universe,’ suggesting that all things have a definite development pattern, and our inability to predict it merely stems from insufficient computational power.”

”Of course, now we know that this world is full of uncertainties. Quantum mechanics tells us that randomness might be the fundamental logic of the universe.”

”But in macroscopic terms, the development of all things remains primarily governed by classical physics. However, reality is too complex, filled with countless variables, and any tiny change can trigger a significant change in results. With human capacity, even basic weather forecasts can only be simulated estimates and cannot be accurately calculated.”

”But the Abyss is different; its power allows exact calculations of the real world! Meaning, the Abyss can predict every change in a world’s future over thousands of years, without the slightest error!”

”When it achieves this, although life in the world continues to move and reproduce, everything has already been determined. That world will no longer have any variance, and the Abyss can fully digitize and devour it as sustenance!”
