Demon Cultivator in Abyssal Era

Chapter 56: Chapter 56: Hidden Quest

Chu Xiu’s tense body relaxed instantly.

”Come on, delivering a package needs this much of a commotion?”

He was a bit at a loss between laughing and crying, and belatedly realized that this blood-colored giant was actually a deliveryman! Here to deliver his Blood Moon reward!

”But the problem is, this deliveryman is way too scary!”

To be honest, he was scared just now, thinking he encountered one of those extremely unlikely sudden events from the Abyss.

But when the crisis was resolved, another problem came up—he didn’t want to expose that he received the Blood Moon reward.

That was his oversight; he had assumed the Blood Moon rewards would be delivered directly to his Storage Space just like previous task rewards, not expecting such a dramatic scene.

Had he known, he would have taken more risks outside and returned to the base after the ceremony ended.

But Chu Xiu quickly came up with a solution.

He suddenly jumped up and shouted, ”If this keeps up, we’ll all die! You all hide, I’ll lure this guy away!”

With those words, he started running without saying more!

Then, to the shock of everyone in the base, the blood-colored giant actually seemed to be attracted by Chu Xiu and chased after him!

”!!!”

The people who thought they were doomed to die were wide-eyed with surprise and joy!

It wasn’t until the blood-colored giant completely disappeared that the immense joy of narrowly escaping death rushed in, causing Wu Xinyi and Yun Lu to cover their mouths in tears of joy, while Shen Zhuo and the other boys sat limply on the ground, utterly exhausted.

Even Guan Ke, who always prided himself on being calm, leaned against the wall, his back drenched in cold sweat, his face full of post-disaster joy.

But after the joy, a complex emotion surged.

”Chu Xiu, he...”

Everyone stared blankly at the empty doorway.

They never expected Chu Xiu would sacrifice himself to save everyone!

For a moment, emotions like sadness, guilt, gratitude mixed together, leaving everyone speechless.

But at that moment, a slightly discordant voice disrupted the atmosphere.

”Hey everyone, shouldn’t we go out and help him?” Yun Lu whispered.

With those words, everyone exchanged glances.

After a long while, Wu Xinyi gave a dry laugh, ”Chu Xiu did this to let us live, let’s not waste his sacrifice.”

Yun Lu gave an ”oh,” said nothing more, hugged her knees, and curled up in the corner, while everyone else’s faces showed awkward expressions, but wisely no one brought up the topic again.

That’s how ordinary people are; they are touched and inspired by others’ actions, but when it’s their turn, they all shrink back.

Meanwhile, ”good guy” Chu Xiu looked at the motionless blood-colored giant, kneeling on one knee and not attacking him, a thoughtful expression on his face.

Coming outside, he finally saw the creature’s full appearance.

It was a nearly human-shaped creature, not to mention its terrifying skinless appearance, the strangest thing was the umbilical cord-like, illusory ”blood vessel” hanging from its neck, stretching towards the sky, seemingly connecting to that eerie Blood Moon.

”These things...”

The blood-colored giant in front of him gave him a very strange feeling, as if it had little independent thought, more like puppets controlled by the Blood Moon, or gigantic infants connected by umbilical cords to their true bodies.

Chu Xiu shook his head, dismissing more thoughts, and reached out to take the dark object from the blood-colored giant’s chest.

After taking it out, the blood-colored giant stood up, slowly floating towards the sky, its massive body gradually becoming illusory.

Chu Xiu didn’t look back, shifting his gaze to the strange item in his hand.

It was a lump of indeterminate black material.

But upon seeing it, Chu Xiu immediately received information that, for ordinary Abyss creatures, the Blood Moon reward was a level-up for everyone, but for the Awakened, they would be rewarded with a special item, information that only the rewarded could see.

Chu Xiu focused, and soon the item’s information appeared before him.

[Demon Monk Rasputin’s Tongue]

[Tier: Mortal (Upgradeable)]

[Quality: Perfect]

[Attribute One: All Attributes +3]

[Attribute Two: Wearing it greatly increases persuasion.]

[Attribute Three: When inside the Endless Blood Pool’s territory, you can acquire a secret every midnight.]

[Evaluation: A pitiful person dismembered for talking too much, yet even in death, unchanged, he constantly babbles unknown secrets at midnight. If you satisfy his desire, he might even reveal the location of the Bloody Arena.]

[Hidden Mission Triggered: Find the Mysterious Bloody Arena]

[Note: The Bloody Arena changes location within the Endless Blood Pool’s territory at intervals; failing to reach it by the specified time permanently disqualifies you from entry.]

[Time Remaining: 23 days]

The information contained in the item was overwhelming, leaving Chu Xiu momentarily stunned.

Perfect Grade Equipment! Upgradeable! Endless Blood Pool! Hidden Mission, Bloody Arena!

”Hiss—”

He took a sharp breath, his eyes shining with delight.

This item justified all his previous risky endeavors!

Just having the all attributes +3 was already formidable, plus there were two additional supportive attributes!

Though they seemed strange at first glance, Chu Xiu was sure these attributes were powerful and would be of great use in the future.

Moreover, the upgradeable attribute suggested that this Equipment could evolve to Warrior Tier or even Fierce Tier!

Chu Xiu didn’t know the evolution conditions, but it was a hopeful prospect.

More importantly.

He triggered a hidden mission!

A hidden mission is typically difficult to trigger without a deep understanding of the world’s context and tends to reward extraordinarily high!

This is why some well-resourced corporate heirs would force weak classmates to serve as cannon fodder exploring different areas, hoping to find potential opportunities!

Like that fool who soared in one leap after obtaining a Legendary Quality Artifact in the Awakening Trial, only to later be killed for his treasure, he had beneficially triggered a hidden mission due to sheer luck!

Needless to say, this mission is a must for Chu Xiu!

The question then becomes how he will complete it.

Chu Xiu noticed that the time limit for the hidden mission was synchronized with the challenge mission and world mission.

And judging by the item’s description...

”Maybe I need to wait until this tongue speaks its secrets to find clues.”

Midnight had already passed, meaning he would have to wait until his next visit to this world to study it properly.

Thinking of this, Chu Xiu stopped dwelling on it and randomly found a room to rest and recover his strength peacefully.

The three battles tonight, though not long-lasting, had exhausted him completely, with his high-intensity Mist Step draining over half of his energy.

The next day, his original plan was to use the remaining time before leaving to boost his level to Level 9.

Unfortunately, last night’s Blood Moon Ceremony had drained most of the ordinary corpse demons, leaving only the high-tier ones, which were not only well-hidden but extremely troublesome to deal with.

In the end, Chu Xiu only managed to kill two Level 6 ordinary corpse demons and gained only a few dozen experience points.

After noon, his body became illusory, and the system’s mechanical prompt sounded in his ear.
