Reborn As An Interstellar Giant Mosquito

Chapter 2292: Chapter 39: If They Want to Fight, Let Them Fight!

”This Empire indeed seems quite aggressive.”

Jia Yan flew all the way through subspace. While his own flying speed wasn’t quite as fast as the Adisa once was, it was certainly not inferior to that of an ordinary ultrafast warship.

The deeper layers of subspace inherently have the practical effect of space compression. Although the explanation is much more complex, understanding it this way isn’t incorrect.

Thus, Jia Yan continued his flight, discovering some small unexpected situations along the way, to which he responded accordingly. Some of these instances were detected by the Empire, while others went entirely unnoticed, even by the Orion Arm Fleet he was assisting, who remained unaware that such a powerful entity had lent them a hand.

”Lord, have you arrived?”

After patrolling a long stretch of the battlefield one day, Jia Yan returned near a fleet where his subordinates were stationed and called for the highest-ranking official there.

The person who came was Tian Niu Lang, the strongest among Jia Yan’s subordinates at the time.

Of course, if one insists on comparing strength, it’s not easy to determine who among the subordinates is stronger or weaker. Tian Niu Lang was only the strongest on the surface. If compared to those with strong burst power, or to a female powerhouse like Luo Longsi, who had trained deeply, it’s uncertain who would win.

”Hmm, I’ve observed the situation on the way and have intervened. There are some areas where you have gaps that aren’t managed well.”

Jia Yan’s first remark was critical of Tian Niu Lang.

”Uh, Lord, it’s not that we don’t want to do well, but the actual combat power between the sides is just too disparate. Given that you’ve observed it all, you should be aware that we are overall one or two levels below them. If it weren’t for the Empire having other forces holding them back, they would have attacked us by now.”

”I understand that. Alright then, since that’s the case, I won’t hold you responsible. Now, let’s see if the Empire has other intentions.”

Jia Yan engaged in a conversation with Tian Niu Lang.

He really wanted to know the opinions of his subordinates.

”I think these Empire folks are actually quite conflicted. They certainly want to fight, because after all, their ultimate goal is to swallow us up here, and perhaps even reach our Orion Arm starfield. But now, they can’t quite gauge our strength, nor are they sure if those opposing forces behind us will act, so they are hesitating.”

Tian Niu Lang was also unsure of what the enemies were thinking.

”Hmph, if they want to fight, we’re not afraid. Let them come if they want to. But Tian Niu Lang, I heard you’ve had contact with some forces opposed to the Empire, right? Tell me about it.”

”Yes, Lord.”

Tian Niu Lang knew Jia Yan would certainly be aware of their actions, especially when it came to contact with forces opposing the Empire. Even during his cultivation, Jia Yan would definitely be attentive, so it came as no surprise that he knew about this.

”It’s like this: around the Empire, there are actually a few major forces that could potentially inflict significant damage on them. Among them, three are the strongest. One is the Mechanical Civilization Forces; in this civilization, as long as there’s metal energy, they can continue to mass-produce robots. Although the robots aren’t ultimately powerful enough and are constrained by Cosmic Laws, the Empire detests this civilization. Unable to beat them, they just hold them off.”

”Among the other two, one is a coalition of several families, which is relatively loose. The Empire’s border forces can almost toy with them. If not for the fact that a thousand years ago, they finally united and managed to repel the Empire once, they would have been wiped out by now.”

”The last force is the Empire’s greatest hidden worry. In past wars, this force consistently held the upper hand. If not for the mediation by Galaxy Level Forces supporting the Empire, the Empire might have lost several times by now. This civilization is roughly on par with a regular civilization, except they have more strong ones than the Empire.”

”Originally, the Biochemical Star Region on our side was also a minor opponent for the Empire but far from the level of these three enemies. However, now that we in the Orion Arm are on the rise, the Empire sees us as a thorn in their side, alongside those three forces.”

”All three forces have contacted us. The Mechanical Civilization didn’t have much sincerity, and their demands were quite unreasonable, wanting us to cede some territory. So, I just drove them away. Similarly, the strongest civilization also contacted us, asking us to give up huge interests, claiming they would ease the Empire’s pressure on us. But I refused them as well.”

”The other one is the family coalition force. Their proposal is more fair, suggesting an equal partnership. However, their strength is too weak. I am still considering what to do. If you think they’re suitable, forming an alliance with them wouldn’t be out of the question.”

Tian Niu Lang continued speaking while observing Jia Yan’s expressions.

In fact, the subordinates, these major ones, have always been quite autonomous, especially in this war. Jia Yan never intervened, and they fought their own battles throughout, never asking Jia Yan about anything.

Looking back, they even made alliance decisions without consulting Jia Yan, which was slightly overstepping, as they didn’t even inform him, seemingly not considering him, the strongest leader, at all.

But Tian Niu Lang’s concern was evidently unnecessary. Jia Yan never really cared much about such matters; if they truly troubled him, he would be uncomfortable, thinking these trivial matters were slowing down his cultivation progress.

Indeed, it was about slowing down his cultivation progress. Jia Yan’s current interest in these matters was primarily about avoiding the attention of ’Galaxy Level’ forces or even more powerful Domain Master Level forces.

As long as these goals could be achieved, he didn’t mind how his subordinates acted, as long as they didn’t attract Galaxy Level Powerhouses attention. He wouldn’t care if they destroyed the Biochemical Star Region.

A being that reached Stellar level is akin to a true deity, devoid of sorrow and joy, focusing solely on their cultivation. This is the best mindset for a strong one to eventually reach ’Star River’ level.

”You don’t have to overthink it. I think your decisions are pretty good. The alliance requests you rejected seem quite reasonable based on your explanations. Just proceed accordingly. Additionally, that family coalition force, if there’s a chance, let them harass the Empire’s border a bit to ease the pressure on us. Even if it only gives us an extra ten years, it will be worth it for future rewards.”

Jia Yan nodded and said.

”Understood, Lord.”

In interstellar civilizations or wars between starfields, gaining ten years’ time is quite easy. Take the Empire attacking the Biochemical Star Region, for example. If back then any one of the supporting civilizations showed signs of activity, the Empire would be hesitant to attack the Biochemical Star Region further, easily securing a ten-year survival period for the region.

However, buying such time is utterly pointless. For an interstellar civilization, within ten years it’s impossible to suddenly have a group of strong ones, nor to produce tens of thousands of interstellar battleships. It merely delays your survival time.

But for Jia Yan and his group, those ten years would make a difference.

Within ten years, if that family coalition truly helps, having that peaceful period would provide Jia Yan a chance to reach the Galaxy Level. By then, what is there to fear from the Empire?

Even with Galaxy Level forces supporting the Empire, Jia Yan and his group would have nothing to fear.

”Hmm, I’ll leave these matters to you. I’m going to venture around the nearby starfields. After being in the universe for so long, I still need to explore for breakthroughs.”

”But if the Empire wants to attack... then let them. I’ll return swiftly upon receiving news.”

”Uh... yes, Lord.”
