Chapter 1637: Chapter 571: Interview, Reaching New Heights

Thursday, October 26, 2023.

a.m. in the morning.

In the executive suite of the Four Seasons Hotel, a light woody fragrance permeated the air.

In the master bedroom, a sliver of morning light peeked through the gap in the curtains, spilling onto the edge of the bed.

As Lin Muxue opened her eyes, she instinctively glanced to the side.

The other side of the bed was already empty, with even the quilt neatly folded.

Shen Yuyan must have gotten up early, who knows when.

”Pretending to be diligent...” she mumbled, rolling over and closing her eyes again.

They had just flown from Yan City to Xiang River, the first day of the business trip.

She had picked up a few new limited-edition bags in Xiang River, and sleeping in the same bed as her rival had been too exciting; she hadn’t slept well at all.

After more than thirty minutes.

There was a faint sound of activity from outside.

Lin Muxue yawned and reluctantly sat up.

Getting out of bed, she put on soft slippers and walked outside.

She couldn’t help but pause in front of a full-length mirror, swapped on a professional smile, struck a few poses, and admired herself for a moment.

In the mirror, her features were exquisite, her hair slightly tousled yet exuding a lazy kind of allure.

Undeniably, having Shen Yuyan as a comparison sparked a lot of motivation in her, even making her a bit more ”diligent”.

She walked out of the bedroom door.

Sunlight spilled into the living room through the half-open curtains, the hotel’s climate control making the room comfortably pleasant, with Xiang River’s morning being humid yet warm.

Lin Muxue scanned around but did not see Shen Yuyan anywhere.

Taking a few casual steps, she faintly heard the sound of keyboard tapping coming from the study.

Lin Muxue raised an eyebrow and gently pushed the door open.

Shen Yuyan was sitting at the desk, dressed in a fresh set of sportswear, eating breakfast while tapping away on the keyboard, looking focused.

Her hair was still a bit damp, her cheeks slightly flushed, as if she hadn’t finished exercising long; she exuded a healthy vibe.

”Morning, Shirley.” Lin Muxue leaned against the doorframe, her voice languid.

”Good morning, Luna.” Shen Yuyan looked up with a smile, her tone relaxed. ”Just got back from a morning workout, and I also reviewed today’s meeting documents. I ordered your favorite shrimp dumplings and an English breakfast, they’re in the dining room.”

”Um... thank you for being so considerate.” Lin Muxue looked a bit awkward.

This was her first real business trip, honestly more of a vacation in her mind, she hadn’t thought much about it.

Besides, she just needed the headquarters staff to report to her during meetings, so she hadn’t looked at the teams meeting files beforehand.

This comparison made her look like a bit of a lightweight Chief Assistant.

Shen Yuyan chuckled lightly, got up, and walked over, ”It’s what I should do, since we’re ’teammates’ now. And after all, we’re sharing the same bed, right?”

Her tone was ambiguous, her movements natural, even giving Lin Muxue’s arm a light pat.

Lin Muxue furrowed her brow slightly, let out a small laugh, but didn’t respond to her.

Who’s your teammate, if it weren’t for fear that no one would watch the show, I wouldn’t have let you stay here!

”I’ll go wash up first, you should eat, and then we can head to the company together, gogo!” Shen Yuyan, full of energy, made a cheering gesture, turned around, and swayed her curvy hips as she left.

Watching her leave, Lin Muxue couldn’t help but pout and headed to the dining room.

Soon after, she started a routine of taking photos, checking in, and documenting her life.

This trip to Xiang River, she was going all out!

To firmly establish her ”socialite” and ”elite” persona!

8:30 a.m.

Lin Muxue changed into a tailored suit from Loro Piana, appearing crisp, elegant, and radiant as she stepped out of the closet.

Just in time to run into Shen Yuyan coming out of her room, still wearing the familiar gray business outfit.

Lin Muxue raised an eyebrow and said with a smile, ”Shirley, don’t you have a ten-thousand-yuan clothing allowance as an assistant? Why do you always wear the same outfit? Want me to go with you to buy a few decent ones? IFC has a few private tailoring shops.”

Shen Yuyan kept her composure, her tone gentle and unflustered, ”I value occasions and coordination more than brands and tags.”

Lin Muxue made an ”oh” sound, her gaze lightly sweeping over the Chanel clutch on her shoulder, and then she smiled as if nothing happened, ”And that bag of yours, if I’m not mistaken, it seems like it’s Qingqing’s, right?”

Shen Yuyan’s lips twitched almost imperceptibly, ”We have a very good relationship, we swap them occasionally to match our outfits.”

”Indeed.” Lin Muxue nodded, smiling brightly, ”I’ve got a lot of bags on my side, if you need any, just say. No need to always borrow from others. After all, we’re both part of President Tang’s core team now, we should mind our image, can’t make him lose face, right?”

Shen Yuyan paused, her smile not reaching her eyes, ”Thank you, Luna, but it’s not necessary. I actually plan to get some new outfits, maybe go shopping tonight if there’s time.”

She had just entered the job, most of her past savings were invested in the Yu Jie project and Xu Qing’s stock options, leaving her with little disposable money.

So her professional outfits were still the ones bought in Yan City, the most expensive one not costing more than seven or eight thousand yuan.

Lin Muxue’s eyes lit up, her smile growing more exuberant, ”That would be great, I also plan to buy a few limited editions tonight. Perfect, we can go together.”

”Uh, yes, sure.” Shen Yuyan exhaled, her eyes flickering slightly, suddenly saying, ”Muxue, we’re both assistants to President Tang. We should be more harmonious, especially here at the headquarters, work should come first, at least let’s avoid letting others see us as a joke, right?”

This trip to Xiang River had indeed given Lin Muxue quite a shock, also temporarily altering her approach.

No longer taking a hard-nosed, head-on confrontation with her, she intended to soften her approach first, then advance slowly.
