Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3700  Icefire Blazes Away

In the distance, Flamerose and Frostrose flew extremely fast.

They were magical beasts and although they were not of the wind nature, they were avian magical beasts. Their flying speed was more than enough to lose ordinary Immortal Emperors by many times, so when they were King-Tier Phoenixes, their speed was many times faster, enough to keep genius Immortal Emperors at bay unless they started using up their blood essence or secret movement techniques to catch up.

Frostrose opened her beak, and Isabella stepped out, having wrapped her arms around herself as she rubbed her arms.

”O—o-o-o-oh, so cold~”

Isabella felt like she was going to freeze to death. She had hidden in Frostroseʼs beak in order to escape, and if Frostrose had felt like it, she couldʼve swallowed Isabella, making Isabella feel she had agreed to such a dangerous thing within a matter of seconds.

Still, she thanked Frostrose for getting her out.

With Immortal Emperors battling, she wouldnʼt survive a single attack. The only way out was if she used her last talisman, the Escape Talisman.

After stepping out and flying out to the back of Frostrose, the frost on her body receded. She looked into the distance behind, watching five Immortal Emperors still following them.

”I wish I could kill them, but my cultivation base is still low. No wonder the upper three steps provide enough advantages in the beginning when it comes to Hidden Pagodas…”

Isabella controlled her anger as she shook her head.

She didnʼt do anything that would warrant the chasers to capture her, so she sat down and tried to relax. She wouldnʼt be a match for them even if she got to Level Nine Immortal King Stage. She had to peak in her cultivation and undergo her Immortal Emperor Tribulation, and only then could she possibly hope to kill them.

Now, she could only hope to escape the onslaught and she guessed it was the same for others who were on the upper three steps: the seventh step, eighth step and ninth step.

ʼBig sister, fourth sister… please be safe…ʼ

She put her hands in her sleeves, noticing the three Gilded Ascendant Realm Pills. As long as she could survive with these treasures, she felt that entering the Candidacy was worth it.

She put her hand on Frostroseʼs body and sent a physical soul transmission.

”Is Shirley still in the same direction?”

”Yes, sheʼs closing the distance as well…”

Isabella narrowed her eyes, ”No, that would be dangerous. We canʼt endanger them.”

”Then what do you propose we do? If we change directions, she will still follow us.”

”…”

Isabella inwardly grumbled. Her cheeks burned as she felt shameless but still asked away.

”Can you two meet the five Immortal Emperors in battle? I know your physical body isnʼt as strong as your prowess using icefire, but if it means endangering Shirley, then I donʼt want to continue leading the enemies to her.”

”…”

Frostrose continued to fly into the distance.

The problem was Isabella couldnʼt be protected if they turned around and attacked since it was possible their own bodies couldnʼt withstand the impact of attacks from five Level One Immortal Emperors.

Their prowess was all enough for them to be at Level Seven Immortal Emperor Stage, which put them at a significant disadvantage because their bodies werenʼt as strong as their Icefire Laws, and unlike Shirley, they didnʼt have the slightest mastery over icefire energy when it comes to defense.

So it was possible they might harm themselves if they used icefire for defense.

*Screeech!~*

However, Frostrose suddenly let out a phoenix cry and turned around to engage the enemy.

She flapped her wings, causing icy wisps to spread far into the region as they formed an icy wall. Using that layer of defense, Flamerose pecked Isabella and threw her into her mouth to safeguard her.

Instantly, Flamerose and Frostrose flew around each other in a swirl, icy-blue wisps and scarlet wisps searing around them.

*Bang!~*

The five Immortal Emperors shattered the icy barricade that extended tens of kilometers long before they rushed past it and arrived before Flamerose and Frostrose, their expressions turning unsightly. However, they didnʼt seem to be discouraged, willing to face it as they summoned their Divine Techniques.

Flamerose and Frostrose circled each other into a yin-yang sphere, their movements synchronized as if they were one being. Frostroseʼs Ice Phoenix wings shimmered with a crystalline frost while Flameroseʼs Fire Phoenix feathers blazed into fierce crimson flames, together creating a vortex of icefire energy that fluctuated the temperature in the air between searing hot and bone-chilling cold.

Their powers began to combine, gathering to an intense crescendo. The searing air around them crackled with the raw energy of icefire, radiating with overwhelming power.

ʼThis… is an icefire technique…!ʼ

Isabella, who was witnessing this from Flameroseʼs open beak, shuddered in shock.

It wasnʼt just a basic amalgamation of icefire energy but a complex amalgamation, increasing its power a few times.

”Now!”

The five Immortal Emperors had finished casting their Divine Techniques.

Golden beams of light, dark tendrils of shadow, and vibrant bursts of earth, fire, and wind elemental energies hurled toward the swirling phoenixes.

The air hummed with a terrifying quake from the sheer force of the attacks as they headed towards Flamerose and Frostrose, but at the next moment, the two of them released a piercing cry as a massive icefire wisp formed in the skies.

It manifested into a diamond-shaped seed, fluctuating with intense undulations at the Level Eight Immortal Emperor Stage.

It halted the five Immortal Emperors in their tracks, their confident expression turning into one of alarm.

*BOOOOM!~*

When all the offensive techniques clashed, it created a colossal explosion and a giant storm that swept away both sides. Frost covered the area, instantly freezing the atmosphere, and then came the terrifying crimson flames, burning everything in its wake. The superposition of both ice and fire abruptly crystallized everything in range.

Caught in the storm, three of them were unable to do anything other than instantly die from the explosion as their bodies were burned to crisp and frozen into crystals.

The other two used the Defensive Talismans and barely escaped being encased in a crimson-blue crystal mountain that appeared in the air. It enveloped a whopping fifty kilometers in diameter.

Even Flamerose and Frostrose were caught in their own attacks. However, they also used the Defensive Talismans to guard themselves, allowing them to escape scot-free.

”T-Terrifying…” Flamerose shuddered.

The destructive force of icefire energy wasnʼt something they hadnʼt learned to fully control yet. Once unleashed, it didnʼt matter if it was a friend or foe; it was going to endanger everyone in range.

”Letʼs go while we have the chance…”

Frostrose turned around, breaking through the jagged crimson-blue crystalline surfaces of the icefire mountain. Flamerose followed, leaving the area.

But ten minutes later, the two Immortal Emperors whom they lost were already back on their tail, this time looking furious as they seemed to have used a movement technique to catch up.

”Frose, this is bad. We used up forty percent of our immortal essence and immortal martial energy in the last attack and quite a bit more in the past battles. Any more would be dangerous to maintaining our flight speed.”

”Letʼs switch to soul attacks. You take on the white-robed man, and Iʼll take on the black-robed man.”

Frostrose instructed Flamerose before she turned around and flapped her icy wings, blowing off the wind as they turned into an icy wall barrier again. It served as a blindfold so the approaching Immortal Emperors wouldnʼt have an advantage.

But Frostrose doubted doing it twice would work on them.

*Bang!~*

The two Immortal Emperors broke the icy wall and entered the battle space. However, they didnʼt make the first move.

”…!”

Flamerose and Frostrose were shocked to see that it wasnʼt those two Immortal Emperors who were left alive from their last attack. Instead, they remembered that these two newcomers were Level One Immortal Emperors who were in a battle with Crystia.

Crystia managed to pin down three Immortal Emperors when they left, but two of them were now here. Did this mean something happened to her?

Flamerose and Frostrose glanced back.

Now, the two who were left alive from their last attack appeared.

Their paths were now closed, so they could only head left or right, but they would be flanked and easily attacked, incurring serious damage.

Only now did they understand stopping here to fight them was a mistake.
