Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2161: Distorted Skies

”So what happened after the Calamity Lightʼs strange activity?”

On their way, Davis asked in an inquisitive tone.

”Sigh, I donʼt want to mention the trouble it caused...”

The Karmic Guardian Emperorʼs expression fell, ”Almost everyone thought that the world was going to end, committing murderous and vile actions all over the Fifty-Two Territories. Many people used this chance to gain many benefits, and the most sorrowful thing is that most geniuses on the latter rankings end up dead to greedy peopleʼs machinations.”

”Because of this, we announced that weʼre opening the Distorted Skies of Yonder and Alternating Time Flow Valley to the geniuses and decided to guard them here, but of course, the reason we gave the world was something else.”

”Oh, the youths who participated in the competition are here?”

Davis couldnʼt help but frown.

Their timing couldnʼt be any worse as he wanted a silent atmosphere to do as he pleased. A few people werenʼt a problem, but if it was teeming with youths who wanted to spar, exchange, and generally remain noisy with their arrogance, then he knew that he might have a problem, although he couldnʼt see anyone willing to court death by provoking him.

His concerns lasted for less than a second before he opened his mouth.

”That said, I thought you people would ask me for an explanation about the frightening things we saw in the skies. It is rather appreciative of you people to not disturb me.”

”Ah, the Mystic Ice Sect did send us an explanation on Fairy Myriaʼs behalf, so we didnʼt dare disturb you.”

”I see. So, what did you think of it? I find it surprising to see that you havenʼt ascended yet.”

Davis raised his brows, causing the Karmic Guardian Emperor to wryly smile, ”I wanted to ascend after witnessing that terrifying descent that shook the hearts of every race. However, after Fairy Myria said that the Fifty-Two Territories was a mere formation and ascending is merely jumping into the throats of those so-called vacuous beasts, we decided not to.”

”However, we received news that the hidden powerhouses did ascend as there were many as fifty immortal tribulations. Some of them failed and ended up dead or crippled, while the others ascended. However, from Fairy Myriaʼs words, I assume that they have been devoured by those vacuous beasts.”

The Karmic Guardian Emperorʼs wry smile turned into one of relief, causing Davis to smile ever so lightly.

ʼI thought so… that woman is definitely a Saintess, not willing to see many people die...ʼ

By informing the Three Great Righteous Sects of this information, she could get them to save many people who were thinking of making a great escape to the ascended world with the help of their ascenders, not to mention quelling the chaos as many people were unaware of the specifics and remained frightened of this situation.

She let them know that they were safer here than in the ascended world.

Maybe he was just overthinking it, and it was Ellia who told the Mystic Ice Sect to inform them. In any case, he hoped that Iris Serenity, the darkness spirit he encountered in the Spirit Lands and helped her ascend was safe on one hand and that many hidden powerhouses died on the other. That would lower his chances of getting caught by some random powerful immortal who noticed his uniqueness.

Sometime later, they arrived before a mountain that was simply massive enough that their eyes couldnʼt see its peak.

”The Distorted Skies of Yonder is in the ceiling of our world, the End Wind Zone.”

Davis nodded his head, knowing that the End Wind Zone was one of many names given to the windy zone that was hundreds of kilometers above the surface, but it seemed like the official name according to the Four Great Righteous Sects. The higher they went in the windy zone, the more it would become difficult for them to survive in that zone that would shred everything to pieces.

One legend even depicted a Legacy Artifact at the level of the Soaring Emperor Sword being torn to shreds, so at the very least, Davis figured that powerhouses at the level of sixth or the seventh level of the Ninth Stage wouldnʼt be able to survive in the elevated regions.

Even so, Davis wanted to check what these windy zones had in store for him until he came to the conclusion that this was a sealed world by visiting the edges of the Fifty-Two Territories and trying to get to the other side of the dark fog.

The sealed space that he and Myria fought was also similarly near the windy zone that restricted the people of this world from leaving. Perhaps, that was the ceiling of the massive formation that sealed or protected the Fifty-Two Territories or was one of many layers.

In any case, they simply flew above the mountains on the head of Earth Dragon, raising altitude for hundreds of kilometers before noticing spatial undulations fill the air. Moreover, there were many Seventh Stage Experts here in these outskirts, but Davis wasnʼt surprised, considering that only Eighth Stage Experts and above would be able to survive at the End Wind Zone.

And although these youths were strong as Eighth Stage Experts, their energy consumption wouldnʼt last long under the constant siege of the wind blades, leading to their deaths, so it was safe for them to comprehend Space Laws right below the windy zone and occasionally enter the windy zone to gain more insights, balancing their energy consumption and survivability.

After all, no one said that werenʼt any other dangers, the most common being their nearby fellow cultivator.

Nonetheless, Mira unceremoniously entered the windy space as she ascended. They were stormed by transparent windy blades that they could see, but with their cultivations, it almost did nothing. However, they could see that there were strange spaces that seemed empty.

”Strange that only these few locations are not filled with seamless wind blades.”

Davis voiced out, causing the Karmic Guardian Emperor to nod with a knowledgeable smile.

”Indeed, thatʼs where the spaces for spatial nodes exist, and as long as you get inside that spatial bubble and begin to comprehend Space Laws, it should be possible for all of you to receive many insights depending upon your comprehension skills, making it fruitful but beware that it could be as much as dangerous. These spatial bubbles sometimes burst with no signs, instantly causing the surrounding wind blades to turn into deadly killing blades, sucked into the popped bubble as though filling the empty space. Depending on the size of the bubble, even I wouldnʼt necessarily survive.”

Davis merely smiled, but the hearts of a few ladies who followed him here couldnʼt help but clench.

ᴘᴀɴᴅᴀ-ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ Even the Karmic Guardian Emperor, who had his prowess recently upgraded to the sixth level of the Ninth Stage, wouldnʼt survive?

”Thatʼs why it is safe to be seated at the edge rather than the center. Also, the lower your prowess, the better it is to choose a smaller spatial bubble. When the spatial bubble breaks, at most, youʼll relieve an internal injury that could be healed with natural regenerative abilities or a pop of a pill.”

The Karmic Guardian Emperor explained, causing Davis to nod while the others relaxed.

They were heartened to learn that as long as they were at the edge and chose a suitable spatial bubble for their prowess, there wouldnʼt be much danger.

”Whereʼs the Alternating Time Flow Valley?”

”There is a mountain peak three hundred kilometers away from here, heading in a downwards slope.”

The Karmic Guardian Emperor pointed towards the east, ”Usually, cultivators below the Eighth Stage wonʼt be able to make it there, but we have prepared ferries for them for a price. But considering that the Emperor of Death doesnʼt require such assistance, Iʼll leave it up to you to decide when you want to enter. In any case, if you need me for anything, please send a word.”

”I will.”

Davis nodded, watching the Karmic Guardian Emperor and the others leave. As for the method of contact, he already possessed the messaging talismans of almost every hegemonic power, so he was able to contact the Karmic Guardian Emperor anytime he wanted.

Nonetheless, hegemons never contacted him this way because that wasnʼt manners to do so when dealing with a person of power. Usually, they would send a messenger or two, which Evelynn or a few others would deal with them.

After the Karmic Guardian Emperor left, Davis turned around, looking at the people who accompanied him and Clara.
