Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2151: False Alarm?

Once Davis spoke his piece, he stood up and calmed his heart, feeling the dread leave his heart and soul. After all, with Ellia acting like all hope was lost, even he was terrified as to what would arrive in his immortal tribulation.

Ellia knew more than he about tribulations as Myria seemed to be hated by the heavens in her life. He knew that Ellia could tell from her shared memories, so he didnʼt doubt her words but determined himself to face an almost unsurvivable onslaught.

On the other hand, Ellia rubbed her eyes with her sleeves, wiping off the tears as she stood up. Her cheeks blushed from having cried in front of everyone, even humiliating Myria as it was her body. However, she still couldnʼt digest this matter and pointed at Davis.

”Still, you shouldnʼt have done that. You could smooth-talk your way out of it all you want, but… reality is different. Iʼm really worried that...”

Back then, just for hoarding and comprehending heavenly lightning, she warned him that his immortal tribulation would be as powerful as hers, but he went ahead and plundered heavenly flames using some unknown method. Honestly, she felt that this shouldnʼt be possible as she had never heard of people plundering heavenly lightning and heavenly flames at the same time.

Plundering heavenly lightning and comprehending it? She had heard about it.

Plundering heavenly flames and comprehending it? Again, she had heard about it.

However, this was the first time she witnessed with her own eyes the birth of an Anarchic Divergent who had successfully plundered and mastered both heavenly lightning and heavenly flames, even making a unique physique out of it.

She vaguely realized that it had something to do with that apex treasure, but surely, it couldnʼt be only that as she figured out his physique and cultivation path so far had contributed to it heavily. Therefore, she was terrified to think that he didnʼt possess a trump card to cross his immortal tribulation.

”… worried that you would die or even end up crippled. So, you not becoming an immortal until we find something to rely on is also an option...”

Ellia dropped her hand as she softly uttered.

”Until then… Iʼll protect you...”

”…”

Davis blinked before he couldnʼt help but smile, looking at his Ellia, who was sweeter than anything at the moment. However, he shook his head, preserving a confident smile.

”Just those words are enough for me to cross my immortal tribulation.”

”Compliments wonʼt get you anywhere…!”

Ellia pouted angrily, but it just reminded Davis of his little Ellia, making him feel nostalgic as she would berate him for sneaking out of the Imperial Palace. He couldnʼt help but reach out his hand, wanting to touch her, but then, Ellia straightened her back and turned around, looking like she was going to leave.

Realizing that Myria had taken over, Davis took his hand back as his smile turned wry, returning to the topic.

”That said, I think I understand the enemyʼs intentions.”

”You understand?”

Myria swiveled her head, questioning in a dull tone.

”That bastard or whoever it is, if they canʼt descend, Iʼm sure that theyʼre trying to smoke you out, and thatʼs through causing utter destruction using those vacuous beasts you mentioned.”

”Smoke me out?” Myria turned her body, looking intrigued as well as amused, ”Why would I care if the entire world died beside the Mystic Ice Sect and you all, for Elliaʼs sake?”

However, Davis shook his head.

”You will care.”

”Why? What makes you say that?”

Myria narrowed her brows, but Davis couldnʼt help but smile in response.

”Youʼre a Saintess, after all.”

But still, Myria only seemed more amused, ”It seems like you havenʼt heard that I turned into a Fiend.”

”Haha.” Davis couldnʼt help but laugh, ”I know youʼre not a Fiend. In these few months of interacting with you, I can tell. I donʼt know what happened, but someone or some people framed you, right?”

”Hmph, as expected. You know nothing.”

Myriaʼs expression twitched before she turned around and stepped into the air.

”Donʼt talk as though you could understand what I went through, brat who has not even lived for a hundred years old!”

Her figure shot away at an incredible speed that made everyone blink, wondering why she looked like she was fleeing.

Meanwhile, Davis lightly smiled, imagining that he was right, but that smile turned wry.

”Thereʼs no need to act like this, no?”

He wanted to discuss more as he was unsure about many things, like what kind of terrifying heavenly tribulations exist so that he could think of a counter beforehand.

”It just means that sheʼs not able to forgive herself for doing a few things that are opposed to her values, just like the time when I killed children.”

Evelynn suddenly voiced out, causing Davis to stare at her.

”Donʼt worry about me. Iʼm just using it as an example as Iʼm long past it.” She giggled, causing him to heave a sigh of relief as he turned around.

”And there you heard it. I wonʼt die, so donʼt stuff your spatial rings and leave me for another man.”

”Whoʼs going to leave you for another man!?”

”Ahahaha.”

A chorus of melodious yet angered voices echoed together, causing Davis to be taken aback by their unison before he heartily laughed while peals of insults fell on his ears, not to mention Evelynn pinching his arm from the side with an aggrieved expression on her face.

By saying that, he doubted their loyalty to him, which they found highly offensive.

However, Davis felt that a bland and distasteful joke like this was required.

After all, Ellia crying in front of them all was a big thing as it was like Myria crying in front of them. If they took Elliaʼs words for real, then he was worried that they would upset themselves into depression.

”Come on. Those so-called vacuous beasts donʼt seem like theyʼre coming back, so before those old foggies from the Three Great Righteous Sects could come knocking on our doors for some more information, let us celebrate like there is no tomorrow.”

He uproariously laughed and brought them all back to festivities that were paused due to the Calamity Lightʼs activity.

As for the ladies, even though his words were distasteful at the last second, they untied some heavy emotions in their hearts, allowing them to return and enjoy the banquet somewhat. But from this moment on, they came to once again understand the feeling of having a mighty pillar support them without having its back break on them.

Even if it broke once back then, it actually still kept the ceiling from falling with its shattering brilliance.

Looking at Davisʼs laughs and smiles that seemed somewhat forced during the banquet, they couldnʼt help but feel more affectionate towards him, treating this time as though it was the last subconsciously. After all, they vaguely realized that even if it were not for the immortal tribulations, chances are those vacuous beasts would kill them after they ascend.

At the end of the banquet, Davis kissed his women goodbye and told them that he had to recollect his focus before he returned to his new room that was nearly adorned with everything that he could ask for while living in a room, but the sad thing was that he didnʼt even know who did it for him.

ʼProbably Evelynn… I guess…ʼ

His tired ass landed on the sofa as he reclined, his muscles relaxing as his body slumped powerlessly.

ʼToday was apocalyptic or hectic?ʼ

He asked before lightly chuckling, unable to tell, but one thing was sure, no matter what came his way, it was his destiny to be the victor. If he couldnʼt be the victor, then…

ʼGuess Iʼll just have to twist fate to fit my way consciously...ʼ

A resolute glint shone in his eyes as he thought to become stronger than before with growing intensity. However, before his thoughts could last long, a thud echoed on his door, causing him to blink before he tidied himself up, sitting like an emperor before waving the door open.

”Whatʼs up, Isabella?”

He casually smiled, causing the purple-robed woman to close the door and walk towards him with shy steps.

”What else? Iʼve come to be held by you, husband~”

Isabellaʼs melodious voice coyly echoed, causing Davisʼs lips to become dry in an instant as he saw her robes drop, revealing her wonderful curves draped by her see-through dudou embroidered with golden flowers.
