Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2038: Marrying Mingzhi

The gathering was at the Purple Guest Palaceʼs Ceremonial Platform located on the eighteenth floor.

There were only a few people present.

Ancestor Dian Alstreim, Ancestor Tirea Snow, Ancestor Cornelia, Edgar Alstreim… everyone from his motherʼs side, Tinaʼs side, Nieraʼs side, Natalyaʼs side, Shirleyʼs side were also here. There were less than a hundred people, but it put a delighted smile on the face of a crimson-robed woman on top of the ceremonial platform as she held hands with a crimson-robed man.

Their robes were embroidered with the patterns of a phoenix and a dragon, respectively, and the sleeves where their hands met displayed the love between the two legendary magical beasts intertwining each other.

The people below were joyously feasting at the banquet for them all with the help of Jaisi Alstreim. Her culinary skills and her ability to employ skilled chefs had already climbed above many ranks, and she had already established many restaurants in the entire Alstreim Family Territory and other Territoriesʼ major cities.

There was also a rumor that she was the Emperor of Deathʼs woman, but no one obtained any proof of it so far.

Nonetheless, this time, it was no Aqua Flood Dragon Meat but the meat of an Emperor Beast Stage Magical Beast, Translucent Daylight Deer, a magical beast meat that was good for the essence and soul, especially to anybody training in Light Laws and a majority of the righteous path people trained in Light Laws for Soul Forging Cultivation.

Even if they didnʼt, it was still restorative.

Nadia went out during the day and hunted the Peak-Level Emperor Beast Stage Translucent Daylight Deer for them. As for where she killed it, it was apparently in the Twilight Shade Valley where war between the Blood Pledge Villa, Dark Moon Crow Empire, White Serpent Palace, and the White-Winged Tiger Empire was going on.

After the Poison Lord Villa fell, it seemed that the White-Winged Tiger Empire had also moved its focus to the unearthed resources in the Twilight Shade Valley, although none of it mattered to them.

The moment Nadia arrived, the entire Twilight Shade Valley went silent, stopping their battles while she silently reaped that deerʼs life and left. There was no one there to stop her because the Translucent Daylight Deer was a native to the Twilight Shade Valleyʼs Illuminated Mountain, where the dark fog wasnʼt present all year long.

However, no one would go there because the light shining there was very dangerous that it would continuously burn them, but for Nadia, such a matter wasnʼt a problem. She practically one-shot the deer with her species soul technique and brought back an unharmed carcass that people were now deliciously feasting upon.

Although there was some awkwardness between the people because of the Vast Sky Emperor Palaceʼs matter, the ceremonies proceeded smoothly. None of them blamed him, or rather, they were unable to say anything because they could understand why someone powerful like him would have to commit slaughter.

It was for them. After all, it was no secret that Davisʼs future lay above this realm.

Speaking of above, from the golden palace above every palace in this city was an icy-blue-robed figure watching this marriage ceremony with clear eyes from the fourth floorʼs balcony. Inside the golden palaceʼs fourth floor was a man treating an icy-blue-haired woman who stared daggers at him but was unable to keep it up as she closed her eyes.

The Solitary Soul Avatar was healing the Ice Phoenix that had awakened some time ago and moaned in pain. She was called Xiaolan. At this moment, he was only giving her first aid. After all, he was unable to heal her soul essence since it was way more powerful than his own strength.

He would even find a lower quality soul essence difficult to heal with his own strength.

In any case, there was a bunch of reasons he didnʼt use Fallen Heavenʼs life energy to heal Xiaolan at this moment.

First, his main bodyʼs soul force had only been restored to sixty percent in these two days. Perhaps, his exhaustion left sooner because of some reason that he woke up in two days, but it didnʼt matter as he should wait for some more time to completely restore his soul force.

Normally, when uninjured or not in an exhausted state, he would need about eight to nine hours of sleep to restore his soul force up to ninety-five percent or more. However, the heaven and earth energy that resonated with his soul essence to produce soul force were low in quality here, after all. The rate of recovery was quite slow.

Secondly, he needed his soul force to be in top shape for manifesting the Supreme Immortal Sigil.

Lastly, he couldnʼt fully heal the Ice Phoenix as he didnʼt believe that it would obediently stay put. Judging by the impression Xiaolan gave him, she was practically spoiled by both Myria and Ellia. Therefore, he knew that Xiaolan wouldnʼt easily forgive him for apparently hurting them, not that he expected any forgiveness in the first place.

He was just fulfilling the words he gave to Ellia while Xiaolan was reluctantly being made to be healed by him by her master. It was the case of being glued together by external parties.

”I, Davis Loret, solemnly swear to take Mo Mingzhi as my sixth wife...”

”I, Mo Mingzhi, solemnly swear to take Davis Loret as my husband...”

At this moment, the two voices of the groom and the bride resounded through heaven and earth as the both of them vowed in front of the witnesses, promising to take take care of each other through thick and thin.

Upon finishing their oaths, Myria saw Davis hold Mingzhiʼs small hand and slid a ring through her ring finger. It appeared dark and elusive, giving off a black illumination that absorbed the light around it, causing unseen ripples that could only be seen when focused.

ʼA High-Level Emperor Grade Defensive Artifact…?ʼ Myria wondered why it would be so weak for Davisʼs ability to procure resources but then saw it was customized for Mingzhi. Moreover, it seemed that one of his women called Sophie was the one who made the ring, as discussed by the people below.

”Ah, so romantic~”

A voice inwardly echoed in her soul sea, causing Myriaʼs lips to curve, ”You can say that, I guess...”

Sixth wife? By the time a man got to that position, women were of mere commodity or possession to that man most of the time. The fact that he still could care about their emotions and give meaning to a sign of marriage like the customized ring was alone romantic that she couldnʼt help but find ironic in many ways.

Was he naive, or was he just caring?

”Well, as long as he could treat you well,” Myria replied to Ellia, and no longer spoke again.

Above the ceremonial platform, Mingzhi stood there with tears gleaming in her eyes. It wouldnʼt be a lie for her to stay that she didnʼt want a marriage with him because being in a polygamous relationship took away the meaning of marriage from her. However, seeing him marry his women one after another and then put that spell on her, she craved the same.

Now, she understood that there was meaning in it even if it seemed foolish, finally feeling that she was officially a part of his family.

”How is it? Do you like it?”

Mingzhi nodded thrice. ”Sister Sophieʼs crafting skills have vastly improved. I can brag that I have a better ring than Fioraʼs!”

”Thatʼs where youʼre concerned!?”

Davis laughed, causing the others to laugh along with him, although Fiora pouted, possessing a smile that appeared not so amused.

Mingzhi grinned at her before she grabbed Davisʼs arm and looked into his eyes, ”Of course, nothing triumphs your existence in my life, darling.”

She coyly smiled, possessing an obsessive glint in her eyes.

Today, Mingzhi was unusually beautiful. Wearing a phoenix crown on her head and the crimson robe suited her figure very well. As Davis observed her, he felt his spine tingle, causing a reaction in his lower body but he wryly smiled and suppressed that reaction as it wasnʼt time yet.

They walked down the aisle before finally meeting his parents, where they bowed, obtaining their blessings.

”Mother, I-” Davis uttered but was interrupted.

”I know. Besides, Mingzhi is a good girl. I know that she stood helpful to our Loret Empire in many ways, hunting down evildoers while solving many cases.”

Claire held Mingzhiʼs shoulders, looking agreeable and proud.

”Mother-in-law…”

Mingzhi felt something like a spark in her heart, realizing that she hadnʼt talked much to her mother-in-law before. Feeling bad, her eyes couldnʼt help tearing up.

”Donʼt cry.” Claire wiped her tears, ”Today is your day, not my sonʼs. Therefore, make sure you completely manage to seduce him tonight.”

”Mhm. I will!”

”Wha-?” Davis went flabbergasted, ”Mother…?”

”Shut up. Itʼs for your sake as well.”

Claire berated while Mingzhi giggled, looking like she had won the battle of gaining her in lawʼs favor.

Davis couldnʼt help but smirk as he saw this scene. His mother finally accepted him despite his decadence. Perhaps, it had to do with the child in Shirley and Isabellaʼs bellies? She apparently couldnʼt wait to see her grandchildren. Perhaps, she wanted more grandchildren already?”

Thinking like this, he smilingly shook his head.

Soon enough, there was only the last ceremony left, which was obviously completing nightly affairs above the nuptial bed.

Davis and Mingzhi arrived before the nuptial chamber, followed by his other women. Together, they sent the bride and the groom into the depths of the sensual enclosure, where they were welcomed by a fragrant room that invoked oneʼs lustful desires.
