Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 2037: Weʼre Doing It Now?

”I… thought a lot about it, and the answer I reached was that even if Davis massacred the entire world because it blames him, I would still be with him, becoming a devil if thatʼs what it is.”

”...!”

Davisʼs eyes went wide similar to the others. That was no longer conviction but blind faith.

”Tanya! I knew my eyes werenʼt blind!”

Natalya resplendently smiled, causing Tanya to return the smile shyly when a purple-robed woman walked past her.

”Uhm… can I also say something?”

”No need to be reserved,” Evelynn replied, causing the purple-robed woman to take a deep breath.

”I havenʼt even repaid Davis for saving me, and yet, I doubted his actions for the past few days, not knowing how to even look at his eyes anymore. I donʼt deserve my place here. Thatʼs why… I wonʼt utter a word of complaint if Iʼm exiled or killed.”

”…”

Everyone felt awkward at Dalila crying silently after saying something like that.

In truth, they didnʼt expect her to have much faith because she was not a part of them until a few days ago. In their eyes, she was like a responsible little kid crying over doing something she regretted.

”Good, youʼre one of us now.”

”…?”

Evelynn appeared before Dalila, causing the latter to flinch in shock. How can she be one of them after what she felt? Although her love towards him didnʼt fade, it was true that she doubted his actions, which led to her questioning her love, which is Davis.

What if Davis had changed? Wouldnʼt he be the person she loved anymore? Thinking of it day and night in these past few days, she was scared to meet him, almost losing her mind over what she was doing, locking herself up.

Abruptly, she felt a palm on her cheek. It was soft and warm, causing her tearful eyes to clear up somewhat as she saw a beautiful face in front of her.

”To doubt is the first step to finding the truth and building a stronger relationship. You donʼt know Davis like us, so itʼs fine for you and Tanya to doubt the intent behind his actions.”

Evelynn couldnʼt help but caress Dalilaʼs cheek, wiping away her tears. She also had come past many trials in the past as there were so many things that were vague about Davis even while he was young; his true identity and his powers, but even so, she chose to trust him, willing to put her life on the line to get to know him.

It was all a bonding process that one must go through when in a relationship. In fact, if these two didnʼt feel doubt over Davisʼs intent, she would feel suspicious about their true characters. After all, a snake in hiding really wouldnʼt care if its golden goose was righteous or evil.

When the time comes and the golden eggs it lays no longer satisfies the snake, it unwittingly poisons and swallows the golden goose, looking for another one without any remorse or shame.

Nonetheless, hearing Evelynnʼs words, the other ladies also couldnʼt help but find it resonating with their hearts. It made them feel closer to Davis now that they chose to believe in him wholeheartedly.

”Really, I can… stay?”

Dalilaʼs lips quivered, causing Evelynn to giggle, turning to look at Davis.

”Looks like if you donʼt say it, she wonʼt believe me, her big sister.”

”Ah~ Itʼs not like that.”

Dalila trembled before she hugged Evelynn, ”Ahh~ I love you, big sister Evelynn.”

”There, there…” Evelynn caressed Dalila as though she was caressing a crying baby.

They both looked young, but if their appearances reflected their ages, they might be laughing at it because Evelynn was way younger. Clearly, the world experience Dalila possessed was lesser than Evelynn.

ʼDamn, Evelynn stole my Dalila...ʼ

Davis lightly chuckled as he saw this scene. However, a hint of satisfaction gleamed in his eyes when he saw Evelynn truly shine as their big sister. Her words also resonated with him because he also doubted their love for him these few days.

”What weʼre scared about is… if he isnʼt the person we all loved, then weʼre all screwed one way or another.”

At this moment, two figures walked out from the inner zone.

”Tina, Mingzhi…” Davis uttered as he saw their figures. It was Mingzhi who uttered that sentence while Tina maintained an amused smile.

Instantly, he had a certain feeling that Mingzhi and Tina were behind Dalila and Tanyaʼs clarity of mind, although he strongly felt Mingzhi played a heavy role in that matter.

ʼSubconsciously taking the path to comprehending Heart Intent, huh… She might be as skilled as me...ʼ

Davis couldnʼt help but be full of expectations for Mingzhiʼs growth.

Abruptly, a hand grabbed the hem of his robe while a beautiful face appeared before his face. Before he knew it, Mingzhi was already in front of him, baring her fangs.

”Scoundrel. The competition is over, and a few days have passed, but you have yet to fulfill the promise of marrying me…! Are you planning on abandoning me!?”

Mingzhi clenched her teeth as she pulled Davis close to her face, looking like a fierce woman.

Davis blinked before his lips curved, ”Oh? Are you sure that you want to marry me now, a slaughterer who killed millions? Do you not want to wait for some time? Otherwise, you might be seen as an evil fiend who married the evil Emperor of Death by the world as well.”

”Those hypocritical bastards already looked at me with hostile gaze for me using Darkness Laws. Do I look like I care what they think about me? You either marry me within two days, or Iʼm cutting off your manhood tonight while framing Schleya!”

”Mingzhi, Iʼll kill you!”

Schleya roared from the shadows that some people didnʼt even notice that she was here.

”…”

The others were practically stunned, wondering what was going on.

Davis wasnʼt stunned. Instead, he stared at Mingzhiʼs moistening eyes with his head inclined. A moment later, his eyes flickered.

”You really have no thoughts on what I did?”

”Iʼm the first person to know even without knowing anything that you are not the person to kill children if you were not forced to.” Mingzhi bit her lips, appearing full of conviction, ”My entire existence is proof of that.”

Davisʼs eyes shook. A moment later, his head straightened as he gently smiled.

”I understand. Iʼll fulfill your wish tonight. However, the gallery-”

”Just our family is fine. Other than you, this group of sisters is what I all have.” Mingzhiʼs voice became meek as she lowered her head, ”I need no outsiders to witness my marriage with you.”

Davis held her waist and pulled her into a passionate kiss, causing Mingzhiʼs eyes to flutter before she closed them and dwelled into his taste.

”Beautiful…”

Some ladies couldnʼt help but utter while almost all of them thought their exchange was romantic, of course, if not for the part where she cuts off his manhood, which almost invoked their wrath before it made them laugh.

Davis left Mingzhiʼs lips, watching her become unusually shy in front of everyoneʼs gaze before he turned to look at Evelynn.

”Evelynn, did you find Ivy Aries yet?”

Evelynn shook her head, ”The rifts are not stable. They open and close at regular intervals, but no one knows those regular intervals as they only stay that way for a set amount of time. Itʼs easier to get lost within without an entire group to keep watch on the way back. Therefore, I presume that Ivy Aries and Valley Master Jade Aurora are lost somewhere, unable to find their way back. There should be no danger to their lives unless they stepped into a danger zone.”

”Furthermore, Iʼm working together with the Soul Palaceʼs Peak Soul Kings and Soul Queens to clear many areas and know the way back. Although I havenʼt found them yet, I have managed to find some clues. It will take some time for the rifts to move, so donʼt worry.”

”I see.” Davis nodded before he looked at someone else, ”Then Natalya, Iʼll depend on you to gather everyone tonight.”

”Leave it to me!”

Natalya pumped her fist, looking more than ready to officially welcome Mingzhi into the family while Mingzhi lowered her head, feeling expectant of tonight.
