Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter Chapter 2035: Swindlers

The moment she saw and heard him being verbally mocked by many people upon the misunderstanding that their Vast Sky Emperor was still alive, having become an immortal and ascended, she was enraged, wanting to personally come over and slaughter them and as if responding to her emotions, Davis did slaughter them all.

However, he didnʼt kill the children below three years old, choosing to leave them alive and left them on top of a mountain nearby, scaring away all the stray magical beasts in a hundred-kilometer radius.

Sophie and Niera listened with utter focus before the former clenched her teeth, looking enraged.

”To think something like that happened and the Heaven Mandate Temple and the Heaven Gazing Sect didnʼt release any news of it. How hypocritical can they be!?”

Niera also looked angered. However, Evelynn shook her head.

”Youʼre wrong. It was I who told them not to reveal it.”

Sophie and Niera became shocked.

”Why?”

”Because Davisʼs wish for those children is for them to grow without knowing or having much of a connection to their origins. If they did, they would be forced to take the mantle of vengeance as their lifeʼs goal, getting them killed in the end, which would give no meaning to his actions of letting them live.”

Evelynn pursed her lips, pausing before she continued.

”There are tens and thousands of orphanages in the righteous path. Those children will be secretly sent to those orphanages to live. Theyʼre all talented children. As long as they donʼt try to trace back their origins and live while following their cultivation path, they will be even recruited by sects and other kinds of powers, continuing on with their life as they create a new family later on. So itʼs essential that the world doesnʼt know about their origins so that some opportunistic or ambitious people wouldnʼt be able to make use of their past.”

”To Davis, whatʼs important isnʼt letting the world know that he was merciful but for those children live safely as much as possible. As for the children above three, they were already full of hatred for Davis as they adored their dead father and mother and worshiped their Vast Sky Emperor. The chances that they will live forgetting that tragic event is essentially below one percent, but not so high for those children below three. Even after all this, if they insist on taking revenge in the future, then all I could say is...”

Evelynn let out a deep sigh, ”It canʼt be helped.”

”But…” Nieraʼs lips quivered as a grateful smile filled her face, ”Iʼm glad that those children could be spared.”

Niera knew that there was no right or wrong in this matter. After they ascended, the Alstreim Familyʼs defenses would become weaker with time, and the consequences of their actions would come to haunt them back. She didnʼt want to leave behind a calamity of their making for the family she was finally reunited with.

Her father and mother were so happy to return from the sealed lightning space, and the same could be said about her grandparents. How could she allow the Alstreim Family to be destroyed by a calamity of their own making?

Even if those kids did not take revenge after they grew up, others would naturally use his deeds as an excuse to destroy the Alstreim Family.

At least, it should not happen while she was still alive, so she took it as her responsibility to make things right.

However, to think that she didnʼt talk to Davis about this matter and kept it all to herself, not only worrying and hurting herself but everyone else. After all, for Evelynn to have visited meant that Davis was worried about her.

To not speak her heart with him, what was she so terrified of?

”I want to see Davis~”

Niera bit her lips as she stood up, causing Evelynn to smile resplendently.

=========

In the guest hall of the Purple Guest Palace, Davis walked the red carpet and glanced at the two shriveled men.

It appeared like they considerably aged from the last time he had seen them.

They were none other than the Venerated Twilight Pill Emperor and Venerated Sunrise Pill Emperor.

The Two Venerate Pill Emperors instantly stood up, one of them running towards him.

”Ah, Emperor of Death. Please forgive us old men for our past transgressions. We realized that we were rather slightly irresponsible at that time, so we came to sincerely apologize.”

The Venerated Sunrise Pill Emperor cupped his hands and bowed ninety degrees before the Venerated Twilight Pill Emperor did the same. Their expressions were a mix between unappealing and boot-licking, just like he imagined.

ʼShrewd old bastards...ʼ

Davisʼs lips almost twitched.

Although he didnʼt have a good impression of them, he has to say that they knew how to stay alive, unlike someone else. If the Vast Sky Emperor simply kowtowed to Isabella three times and asked for her forgiveness, he would not have pursued that matter at all.

But he refused to do so, and now where did it end? In the Vast Sky Emperor Palaceʼs complete destruction with millions of unneeded deaths.

To him, while the descendants of the Vast Sky Emperor possessed the freedom of thought, the others didnʼt seem to possess it. It was more like they were servants to the Skycloud Family, their reverence all gathered towards one individual. The moment that individual became an immortal existence, their reverence only grew to worship, causing them to become retards against an apex powerhouse like him.

It was a tragic event, but these two old men in front of them were precisely here to prevent that tragic event.

However, he couldnʼt help but laugh a bit as he possessed no hatred against them. They might have felt like they had swindled wealth out of him, but to him, he felt like he gave alms to the poor. His only intent was to get Dalila out of that forced contract they had with the Thousand Pill Palace.

As that matter was settled peacefully, he didnʼt mind leaving it at that but here they were, giving him back all they swindled and, on top of that, giving him actual compensation for him to not lay a hand on them.

Davis felt that it was amusing as he raised his hand.

”Here.”

The Two Venerate Pill Emperors raised their heads and saw that there was a spatial ring on Davisʼs palm, causing their pupils to dilate.

”This…”

The Venerate Sunrise Pill Emperorʼs lips quivered. Wasnʼt this the same spatial ring they gave to the Yin Lotus Fairy?

”Oh, no. The Emperor of Death must accept our gift. Otherwise, we will feel distressed.”

He added with a fake smile on his face that almost made Davis turn his face away in disgust, but he kept his smile and moved his lips.

”I did accept it.”

The Venerate Sunrise Pill Emperorʼs expression became relaxed but then froze.

”However, make a copy of all your manuals, techniques, alchemy knowledge, and pill recipes, including the hidden ones. Iʼll buy them all for a hundred Peak-Level Spirit Stone Vein Sources.”

”W-What…?”

Both Venerate Pill Emperors trembled simultaneously, looking dumbfounded.

The Emperor of Death wants to buy what?

Their Glorious Pill Palaceʼs complete inheritance wouldnʼt even sell for 10,000 Peak-Level Spirit Stone Vein Sources, much less a mere 100 Peak-Level Spirit Stone Vein Sources!

How can he swindle him in broad daylight like this!?

The Two Venerate Pill Emperors were vexed and enraged, but they didnʼt dare show their anger on their faces, shivering as they lowered their wrinkled heads. Who knows what would happen if they made him even the slightest bit angry?

For a person who massacred the entire Vast Sky Emperor Palace and received no blame or sanctions from the three other righteous sects proves the absolute power of the man in front of them.

They very well knew that if this youth in front of them wanted to unite the human race under his banner, he could very well do it. Otherwise, they wouldnʼt have gone out of their way to repay what they swindled and add compensation on top of that. Their coffers were crying, and so were their eyes, but there were no tears at this moment.

”Of course, you can choose not to accept this transaction and leave. As for what would happen in the future, who knows?”

Davis shrugged, left the spatial ring on a pillar made using martial energy, and left, walking towards the inner zone when a hoarse voice echoed.

”Wait!”

Davis turned to look back at the Venerate Sunrise Pill Emperor, who seemed to have a difficult expression on his face. His expression changed numerous times before he finally heaved a sigh.

”Fine, we agree. However, you should promise us to not leak the pill-”

”Do you think that I have any interest in this small, desolate world that could no longer aid my growth?”

ʼBut the Alstreim Family… they...ʼ

The Venerate Sunrise Pill Emperor gnashed his teeth and held his tongue from speaking out before he stiffly nodded his head.

”Alright, weʼll prepare everything in a week and send it to your eminence. However, our Glorious Pill Palace should also be present after your eminenceʼs ascendance. Donʼt blame us if they come looking for your eminence because they found the presence of their things in your eminenceʼs possession.”

”Thanks for the warning, but thatʼs not something you need to worry over with your old lives.”

Davis chuckled like a carefree youth, causing the Two Venerate Pill Emperors to have somber expressions. They no longer stayed and flew off with no one sending them off.

Davis looked at their leaving figures with a gaze full of derision.

The Venerate Twilight Pill Emperor didnʼt even talk much, probably knowing that he would offend him with his words and choosing to keep his mouth shut. Such restraint and flexibility really did broaden his horizons.

In front of opportunists, he was also an opportunist that he did not feel a tiny hint of pity in ripping them off in this manner because he knew that they would do the same using many methods if he was weaker.

When he turned back, he saw his wives as well as Zestria and Bylai. When his eyes met the two Dragon Queens, they momentarily shuddered, causing him to narrow his brows.

”Isabella, prepare our fleet. Letʼs move out to lay waste upon our enemies.”

Davis looked towards the distance as he waved his sleeves, causing the others to become shocked.

”To where?” Isabella blinked as she asked subconsciously.

Whatʼs going on? What about their fleet? Did they have one? Did he mean the magical beasts of the Magical Beast Sanctuary? The Soul Palace? Didnʼt he just wake up? Why the need to be out so soon?

Isabella had no idea but heard him speak again.

”First, to the Zlatan Family.”

Davis declared, his voice echoing like thunder that it caused a woman to jump in fright.

”Ah!”

Bylai Zlatan instantly appeared before him and grabbed his arm, looking at him with pleading eyes.

”Whatʼs wrong? Did they do something wrong to offend you?”

Bylai desperately held his arm, her heart pounding crazily while her life flashed before her eyes under his cold gaze. However, her expression froze as she heard his next words.

”Iʼm just kidding.”

Davis grinned before he looked elsewhere.

”You too, Zestria. What are you two terrified for? Just because I slaughtered so many people doesnʼt mean that I have changed. Iʼm still looking forward to the day when I get to have both of you on my bed, so how could I hope to offend you, Dragon Queens?”

”Ah, you…”

Bylai and Zestriaʼs expression alternated between embarrassment and anger as they heard his helpless tone while his wives shook their heads.

There was no cure to pervertedness.

However, they all saw that Zestria and Bylai no longer possessed that slight hint of dread they had towards him.
