Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 1190: Chapter 1190: Prison Turmoil 1

Ultimately, the judge announced the verdict: Defendant Ye Fei, guilty of rape. Considering his good attitude towards confession, he was sentenced to the minimum term for this crime, three years of imprisonment!

This lukewarm trial process not only left the journalists, who had come hoping for some ”sensational news,” feeling disappointed, but also left the majority of the onlookers dissatisfied.

Among the many people present today, aside from a handful of genuine enthusiasts who were truly interested in this field and attended every session, the rest had come with the expectation of witnessing a showdown between these two usually high-and-mighty figures. However, they ended up seeing nothing of the sort.

The person who was most excited at this moment was the judge in charge of this case. Judging Ye Fei was such a huge headline. With a bit more hype, it would be like judging a ”tyrant of the underworld.” Leveraging this headline and making some moves, a promotion seemed almost guaranteed.

However, compared to the common people’s ”respect” for Ye Fei, these officials felt more ”fear.” Using Ye Fei to climb the career ladder was one thing, but if Ye Fei took offense and decided to eliminate him, it would be easier than squashing an ant.

Thus, the seemingly powerful judge was in an extremely conflicted state of mind. Giving up such a great opportunity was hard to swallow, but not giving up could cost him his life at any moment.

To ordinary people, the choice between life and power might seem obvious, but for these officials, it was an incredibly difficult decision.

Ye Fei, however, didn’t care about what these irrelevant people thought. He took one last deep look at Gu Yanping and then left with Leng Yan, who was responsible for ”escorting” him.

Watching Ye Fei leave, Gu Yanping suddenly felt an emptiness in her heart. Now that the case was settled, Ye Fei was facing three years of imprisonment.

Even if he wasn’t confined, he would be out of the public eye for three years. Such a punishment was not light.

But Gu Yanping realized that this was not the outcome she desired. Although she was still determined to avenge her brother, she inexplicably didn’t want Ye Fei to be hurt, especially when she saw the pained look in his eyes. Her heart ached as if it were being tightly squeezed by a large hand.

In addition to this, there was another point. The lawsuit had been won too easily, giving Gu Yanping the feeling of throwing a heavy punch into cotton, almost causing her an internal injury.

Gu Yanping was a woman who always had a plan and never admitted defeat. She knew Ye Fei was not an easy opponent, so besides the crucial step of enticing Ye Fei to ”rape” her, she had also prepared several backup plans.

Although she inexplicably didn’t want to use these plans after being ”raped” by Ye Fei, not wanting to use them and not being able to use them were two different things.

She, Gu Yanping, was the renowned business queen and did not want to be pushed around to such an extent, even if it was by Ye Fei. But now that the case was settled, she couldn’t very well recant and release Ye Fei to compete with him using those strategies.

With these extremely complex feelings, Gu Yanping skillfully extricated herself from the reporters’ entanglement and returned to Jinhai alone—her family’s matters still awaited her resolution.

As for Ye Fei, under Leng Yan’s ”escort,” he arrived at the Wanghai Prison. It should be mentioned that, aside from the inmates who were already here, the Wanghai Prison hadn’t seen any ”new faces” for several months.

This was because the crime rate in Wanghai, and even the entire southeast, had plummeted. At most, there were minor offenses that warranted only a few days of detention, which didn’t require prison.

Naturally, this was all due to Ye Fei’s emergence.

But today, he, the ”culprit” who had caused several months without new inmates, became the only exception. Those who knew about it could only say, ”The world is full of surprises.”

Although she didn’t want to be separated from Ye Fei, Leng Yan couldn’t very well accompany him to prison, could she? So, after handing him over to the prison authorities, she led her team and left. Ye Fei followed a prison guard into the prison.

”Mr. Ye, shall I go ahead and put in a good word for you?” the guard asked solicitously at the entrance.

There was a tradition in the prison of giving newcomers a hard time to assert dominance and prevent any troublemakers from threatening the existing hierarchy.

The prison authorities turned a blind eye to this, as it saved them a lot of trouble.

”What do you mean by ’put in a good word’?” Ye Fei looked at the guard strangely. He had seen the classic movie ”Prison Break,” but after experiencing the tranquility of the detention center, he thought the movie had exaggerated things and didn’t understand what the guard was getting at.

Although Ye Fei had simply asked a question and glanced at the guard, the latter was so intimidated that his heart almost leaped out of his chest. He even mistook Ye Fei’s puzzled look for dissatisfaction.

After all, Ye Fei was a legendary figure who had the entire southeast under his control. How could he care about the minor troubles in prison?

Realizing he had probably misjudged the situation, the guard dared not say more and awkwardly smiled, ”Never mind, Mr. Ye, please.”

Then, the guard took Ye Fei to collect some daily necessities, had him change into prison clothes, and escorted him to his cell. As for the rule that all inmates had to shave their heads, the guard didn’t even dare to mention it.

The cell assigned to Ye Fei was quite spacious, with more than twenty sets of bunk beds, capable of housing forty to fifty people. However, it was very tidy, not dirty or smelly at all. At first glance, it resembled a military barracks.

Ye Fei quickly scanned the room. Although the cell wasn’t full, there were still over thirty people inside. They had been busy with their activities, but when Ye Fei entered, they all turned their heads, their eyes filled with surprise.

Ye Fei found his bed according to the number. It was a lower bunk in the middle, not a very good spot. The prison authorities hadn’t given him any special treatment here.

As soon as he put his things down, most of the people gathered around. Leading them was a bald man with a nasty scar on his face.

Of course, everyone here, except for Ye Fei, was bald. The only distinguishing feature of this man was the scar on his face.

Seeing that Ye Fei didn’t show any fear when surrounded by so many people, the scar-faced man was somewhat surprised.

However, as the boss, he couldn’t back down just because of this. So he asked rudely, ”Kid, are you new here or transferred from another prison?”
