Chapter 1000: Chapter 1000: The Aunt’s Sorrow

”Sure, that’s great. He told me the same thing. After the New Year, he wants you to start working at his company. You’ll have plenty of chances there,” Aunt Zhang said, her smile feeling forced even without looking in the mirror.

As she spoke these words, it felt like her heart was being squeezed by an invisible hand.

Just moments ago, she had been entwined with him, her body still tingling from his caresses, kisses, and the fullness his big dick had brought. Now, she had to push him towards another woman—her daughter.

No matter how logical it seemed, the pain was still there, sharp and undeniable.

Fortunately, Lan Wen, excited by her mom’s support, was already lost in thoughts of how to pursue Ye Fei. She didn’t notice her mom’s discomfort. If she had, she would have pressed for an explanation!

Meanwhile, Ye Fei had already returned to Wanghai. He had plans for the New Year, but things had changed. Originally, he had intended to spend the first day of the New Year with his gang brothers and also spend some time with Ye Xuan and her daughter. However, Zhang Yide and Ye Xuan had taken care of everything for him.

Ye Xuan had even gone back to Jin Hai City, which gave Ye Fei the perfect opportunity to visit Aunt Zhang, who wasn’t on his original itinerary.

Today, though, Ye Fei was sticking to his plan. He drove straight to the city center and stopped in front of a small, standalone courtyard. Yes, he was here to see his recently widowed aunt, Xu Shuyun, who had shared a passionate night with him, and his adorable younger cousin Ye Jing, who had accidentally given him a footjob once.

Now left as a widow and orphan, Ye Fei had become their only support. But with so many things on his plate, he couldn’t stay with them all the time, especially during a time when they should be surrounded by family. They must be feeling very lonely. So, both emotionally and morally, Ye Fei felt it was his duty to visit them first.

Standing in front of the lonely courtyard, Ye Fei felt a surge of compassion. He decided once again to speed up the construction of the manor. Once it was ready, he would move them there, so they wouldn’t have to feel alone anymore.

The gate to the courtyard was locked, but as the only male head of the household now, Ye Fei had a set of keys. He let himself in without disturbing anyone and walked into the familiar courtyard. It was very quiet, with a layer of firecracker debris on the ground.

Ye Fei wasn’t surprised by this. If it were just the two of them, they wouldn’t be in the mood for firecrackers. But as the former sister of the Lingyun Gang, Xu Shuyun would surely have visits from the gang members before and after the New Year. Naturally, they would want to make some noise and set off some firecrackers.

What puzzled Ye Fei was that, given his aunt’s tidy nature, why hadn’t she cleaned up the courtyard and left the debris on the ground?

With this question in mind, Ye Fei walked into the small building. As soon as he entered, he saw Xu Shuyun sitting alone in the living room, staring blankly. She wasn’t watching TV or reading a book, and she didn’t even notice Ye Fei come in.

What’s more, it was almost noon, and she was still in her pajamas, which was very unlike her.

After a long time apart, his aunt was still as beautiful and elegant as ever, but now she looked a bit haggard, with a pale complexion.

Seeing her like this, Ye Fei felt a pang of heartache. He quickly walked over, sat down beside her, and reached out to pull her into his arms, asking, ”Auntie, what’s wrong?”

Xu Shuyun’s body trembled slightly as she noticed the presence of someone beside her. But she wasn’t startled. She just gave Ye Fei a forced smile and said, ”You’re here.” However, unusually, she shrank back, avoiding his embrace.

Ye Fei was even more puzzled. His aunt and he had shared many intimate moments, and she had even agreed to bear his child. Why was she dodging such a small, affectionate gesture now?

”What’s going on?” Ye Fei asked again, this time more firmly pulling his aunt into his arms.

This time, Xu Shuyun didn’t resist. She weakly leaned her head on Ye Fei’s shoulder and asked in a low voice, ”Ye Fei, do you ever think that I’m a bad woman?”

”How could you be? In my heart, you’re the best woman there is!” Ye Fei said resolutely, then asked, ”Why would you even ask such a silly question?”

”Aren’t good women supposed to be faithful to one man?” Xu Shuyun sighed softly. ”I was married to your uncle for over a decade, and we had a great relationship. But not long after he passed away, I fell in love with another man—his nephew.”

She paused for a moment, but Ye Fei didn’t interrupt, knowing she had more to say.

Sure enough, after glancing at Ye Fei, Xu Shuyun continued, ”Alright, this is my fate, and I accept it. But since I’ve fallen for you, I should be devoted to you completely. Yet, I can’t forget him. I feel so terrible! I’ve wronged him, and I’ve wronged you even more!”

Now Ye Fei finally understood. It must have been the visits from the Lingyun Gang members these past few days that had brought back memories for his aunt, making her miss her late husband.

Ye Fei felt a mix of happiness and frustration. He was happy about his aunt’s attitude. She and his uncle had shared over a decade of love, while he and she had only been together for a few months.

Yet, she was already comparing him to her late husband, and from what he could tell, he now held a more important place in her heart than her husband ever did.

But he was also frustrated because his possessiveness was growing stronger. He wanted his woman to belong to him completely, both in body and heart, with no room for another man.

Of course, this didn’t mean Ye Fei didn’t allow his aunt to remember her late husband. But he wanted her to remember him the way Shui Ying remembered her father—as a beloved family member who had passed away, not as her man.

Holding his aunt’s slender waist tightly and pressing her sexy body close to his, Ye Fei comforted her, ”You haven’t wronged anyone. It’s your uncle and I who have wronged you. You’re so beautiful, Auntie, and you deserve to be taken care of completely. But your uncle trusted that bastard, which left you a young widow. He didn’t fulfill his duty as a man. And I took advantage of your grief, replacing your uncle and taking your innocence.”
