Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 988: Zhang Yuʼs Coercion

”Really?” Zhang Yu was no longer just interested; he was excited. Judging by Lan Wenʼs age, she had to be over twenty.

In this day and age, it was hard to find any woman in her twenties, even an unattractive one, who was still single, let alone a stunning beauty like Lan Wen. He felt that today was just his luckiest day ever.

”Of course not!” Zhang Tao interjected again, ”Jingwen has been with me for a while. Donʼt believe me? Ask her yourself!”

”I have never been with him, nor have I ever had a boyfriend!” Lan Wen once again declined Zhang Taoʼs well-intentioned attempt to help. She knew that going along with Zhang Taoʼs words and getting rid of Zhang Yu would be the easiest solution right now.

However, she didnʼt want to do that. If she did, she would owe Zhang Tao a favor, and she would probably be entangled with him in the future. She would feel guilty when she refused him again.

Zhang Yuʼs initial good impression of Zhang Tao vanished immediately at his attempt to ruin his plans again. He glared at Zhang Tao discontentedly and said, ”Zhang Tao, stop meddling!”

”Yeah, someone like you even wants to play the hero? Donʼt you know yourself?” Wen Shao, who had long been annoyed by Zhang Tao, chimed in.

At this point, Zhang Tao had no other choice, but he still didnʼt leave. He just stood there and endured the ridicule from Wen Shao and the others.

After getting rid of Zhang Tao, Zhang Yu turned his attention back to Lan Wen and said with a smile, ”Beautiful lady, youʼve told me that youʼve never had a boyfriend. Does that mean youʼre interested in me? If youʼre willing, we could give dating a try.”

”Iʼm just stating a fact,” Lan Wen replied indifferently, ”Iʼve never had a boyfriend before, and I donʼt want one now. Please, Young Master Zhang Yu, look for someone else.”

Lan Wenʼs clear rejection stunned Zhang Yu.

Wherever he went, he was always pampered and catered to.

Now, he had hit a wall with Lan Wen, which only made him more interested in her. He continued to joke, ”Itʼs just that you donʼt know me yet. How about this, letʼs go for a walk right now and get to know each other!” As he spoke, he reached out to grab Lan Wenʼs arm.

Lan Wen stood up, took a step back, and dodged Zhang Yuʼs inappropriate hand. She coldly said, ”Please show some respect!”

At this moment, Zhang Tao also shouted, ”Young Master Zhang Yu, you canʼt do this!”

Zhang Yu had patience with Lan Wen because she was a beauty, but he didnʼt have such patience with Zhang Tao.

He snorted coldly and said, ”It seems youʼre determined to oppose me today. Teach him how to behave!” He then gave Wen Shao and the others a meaningful look.

Wen Shao and his cousin Qiang Shao immediately nodded, grabbed Zhang Taoʼs arms, and punched him hard in the stomach at the same time.

”Ugh...” Zhang Tao was almost made to vomit by the two punches. He bent over and struggled desperately. However, he was just an ordinary person who had never practiced any martial arts.

How could his strength compare with that of the two of them?

The more he struggled, the more punches he received from the brothers.

Seeing Zhang Tao being beaten, none of his so-called friends who usually called each other brothers dared to come to his aid.

The employees, seeing Zhang Tao being beaten and Lan Wen about to be taken away, were all indignant. But similarly, none of them dared to step forward.

These formal employees, who were at least in their twenties, had long passed the age of youthful impulsiveness.

Although Zhang Yu and his group were few and no match for the crowd, if they helped Lan Wen against Zhang Yu now, their future would be difficult.

Not only might they lose their jobs, but their safety could also be at risk.

At this moment, a flicker of compassion crossed Lan Wenʼs eyes, and she sighed inwardly. She did owe Zhang Tao a favor after all, because the beating he was taking was on her behalf.

”Well, beautiful lady, arenʼt you coming with me? These people canʼt save you. You donʼt want me to force you, do you?” Zhang Yu took a step closer to Lan Wen and said with a smile.

Ye Fei, you little rascal, why donʼt you come out yet! Lan Wen silently called out to Ye Fei in her heart, her pretty face as cold as ice, and said, ”Zhang Yu, have you thought about the consequences of what youʼre doing?”

”Consequences? What consequences? Donʼt be naive enough to think you can rely on the law,” Zhang Yu sneered.

”Let me tell you, you have only two outcomes. If you come with me obediently, youʼll become my girlfriend. But if youʼre not cooperative, youʼll end up as my sex slave. I guarantee that even if I take you away in front of all these people, your family wouldnʼt dare to say a word!”

Zhang Yuʼs words shocked Lan Wen. Although she had heard of some dark things, she never expected that these privileged rich kids would be so lawless.

However, she wasnʼt afraid because the power behind her was a hundred times stronger than this young master.

”If you know whatʼs good for you, let him go and get out of here right now,” Lan Wen, who had been provoked by Zhang Yuʼs recklessness, threatened in return.

”Otherwise, youʼll have to bear the consequences. Let me tell you, the people behind me are not someone you can afford to provoke!”

Hearing Lan Wenʼs words, Zhang Yu, who had been toying with her like a cat with a mouse, was taken aback. He thought carefully.

Lan Wen had always been very calm in front of him and didnʼt seem afraid of him at all. This made him have to be cautious. Although he was still lawless, he was no longer the same person who didnʼt care about anything a few months ago—one who had been scared by Ye Fei.

At this moment, Chu Hong suddenly burst into laughter, mocking, ”Backers? I havenʼt heard of you having any backers. Are you talking about your father who has been dead for nearly twenty years, or your mother who has been working for others all year round? Besides them, who else do you rely on? If you had any, you wouldnʼt be working here like us, would you?”

Chu Hongʼs words were very well-considered. She not only analyzed the situation but also clearly explained Lan Wenʼs background, completely eliminating all of Zhang Yuʼs concerns.

Feeling deceived, Zhang Yu finally lost his patience and sneered, ”Bring out whatever backers you have. Also, tell me who your mother is working for and see if I canʼt handle it!”

”Donʼt make up stories. Young Master Zhang Yuʼs connections are beyond your imagination,” Chu Hong added, excited. Lan Wen, with her personality, would never submit to Zhang Yu.

She had only two choices left: death or being taken by Zhang Yu as a plaything, with no status at all. If it werenʼt for being sure of this, Chu Hong wouldnʼt have made the suggestion. After all, if Lan Wen were to be favored by Zhang Yu, she would definitely not have an easy time.
