Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 339 Xiao Feiʼs Submission (1)

Ye Fei walked to the front of the room and took a seat at the head of the conference table. He scanned the employees gathered in the room and began, ”Hello everyone, Iʼm Ye Fei. Iʼm sure youʼve all heard of my name.”

Pausing for a moment, he continued, ”But right now, Iʼm not the leader of the Lingyun Society that youʼve heard about. Iʼm just someone who, like you, wants to make our film company bigger and stronger!”

After apologizing for his previous neglect of the film company and outlining his plans for the future, Ye Fei dismissed the employees.

In truth, the purpose of this meeting wasnʼt to discuss any specific matters but to make an appearance in front of the staff and boost their confidence.

Only then could they work with peace of mind.

If Cheng Hui had made these announcements alone, the effect wouldnʼt have been nearly as good.

Once the excited employees had left, Ye Fei turned to Cheng Hui, who had stayed behind, and said, ”Keep an eye out for headhunting companies over the next few days and see if we can find someone capable to take on the role of general manager, preferably someone with management experience.”

”Sure,” Cheng Hui agreed readily, without any complaints about being removed from the position of general manager.

For one thing, he was grateful to Ye Fei for sparing him earlier. For another, he knew he wasnʼt cut out for the role. He could unite the employees, but he lacked the ability to truly strengthen the company.

After Cheng Hui left, Ye Fei and Xu Weier followed Situ Ying to her office. He was eager to read the script that Xu Weier had praised so highly.

After all, Xu Weier had grown up watching movies and could be considered something of an authority in this field.

Taking the script that Xu Weier had already read, Ye Fei began to read carefully. He found the story to be quite simple—it was about a fairy who accidentally fell into the mortal world. There wasnʼt even a love story, a genre that almost every movie included.

Yet, after finishing it, Ye Fei was certain that if this movie were made, it would definitely cause a sensation. Even he found himself immersed in the story.

Though simple, it was filled with a sense of wonder, especially the descriptions of the fairy realms, which were truly captivating.

Although such places didnʼt exist in reality, the current technology could easily create the effects described in the script.

The protagonist, the little fairy, was strikingly similar to Xu Weier—naive, innocent, and even outspoken. Her charm was so endearing that Ye Fei couldnʼt help but feel a bit moved.

However, he was puzzled as to why he didnʼt feel the same way when he looked at Xu Weier, despite her similar personality to the fairy in the script.

Intrigued, Ye Fei read through Situ Yingʼs other scripts and found that none of them were inferior to the first one. He was amazed at how someone as seemingly innocent as Situ Ying could have so many creative ideas.

”How is it?” Situ Ying asked nervously as Ye Fei finally put down the script. Although she was confident in her work, Ye Fei was the boss. If he didnʼt approve, her scripts would never see the light of day.

”Very impressive!” Ye Fei, who had already fully recognized Situ Yingʼs talent, didnʼt hold back his praise. ”If we produce this, it will definitely elevate our countryʼs cinema to a new level! However, Miss Situ, you seem to have a particular interest in mythology. All your scripts are of this genre.”

Hearing the word ”however,” Situ Yingʼs heart tightened, but Ye Feiʼs next words reassured her. She returned to her confident state as she explained, ”Itʼs not that I have a special preference for mythology.

Itʼs just that, globally, the fantasy genre is undoubtedly the most popular, and Western countries have dominated it in recent years.

But when it comes to myths and legends, our country has the richest and most systematic collection. If we can bring these stories to life, I believe we can capture a significant market share.”

”Thatʼs true,” Ye Fei agreed.

”But Iʼve noticed that Western audiences seem more interested in bizarre and grotesque elements. What if our movies fail to penetrate their market?”

”Actually, the largest market in the world is our own country. Our movies will definitely be popular domestically, so failing to enter the Western market wouldnʼt be a major concern,” Situ Ying said confidently.

”Moreover, I donʼt believe we canʼt break into the Western market. If the quality is good, it will be well-received anywhere. Besides, weʼre not short of strange elements either. Take the script you just read, for example. Isnʼt the protagonist, Xingtian, bizarre with his head cut off and using his nipples as eyes and navel as a mouth to fight in the heavenly court?”

Ye Fei had to admit she was right.

When it came to bizarre elements, who could compare to someone who could still fight in the heavenly court with their head cut off, using their nipples as eyes and navel as a mouth?

Reflecting on how Western cinema had impacted their countryʼs film industry in recent years, he realized it was time for them to strike back.

”Alright, I trust you. Once the companyʼs operations are back on track in a few days, weʼll start working on the first film, and Iʼll support you fully!”

Ye Fei decided on the spot. He then turned to Xu Weier and asked, ”I need to head back now. Are you coming with me or staying here to discuss with Miss Situ?”

”Of course, Iʼm staying with Sister Ying. My mom can pick me up later,” Xu Weier replied, seemingly uninterested in leaving with Ye Fei. She waved her hand dismissively and said, ”You go ahead!”

Ye Fei left Situ Yingʼs office with a wry smile, feeling somewhat helpless. He found Cheng Hui, gave him some instructions, and then left the film company. He had done everything he could for now.

All that was left was for the company to return to normal, find a professional general manager, and then he would invest heavily. He felt no pressure about this, as he had more than enough money.

As for the companyʼs artists, although they currently had none, he was confident that once the company got started, many talented people would flock to them.

Glancing at the time, it was already past four in the afternoon.

Driving along the road, Ye Fei found himself unsure of where to go next.

Going home was out of the question, as his mother wouldnʼt be there, and heʼd be bored alone. Returning to school was too late; heʼd probably arrive just as classes were ending.

After pondering for a moment, Ye Fei decided to head back to the Lingyun Society headquarters. Calculating the time, he realized that Xiao Fei had been confined for three or four days. It was about time he checked on her to see if she was still so stubborn.

The nightclub had already begun its evening operations, with many young men and women coming and going. When they saw Ye Feiʼs car, they couldnʼt help but look surprised. It was rare to see someone driving such a formal-looking vehicle in and out of a nightclub. However, Ye Fei paid them no mind.

He parked at the entrance, threw the keys to one of the junior members who ran over to greet him, and then went straight to the second floor, to the room where Xiao Fei was being held.

Xiao Fei was sitting listlessly on the large bed in the center of the room, staring straight ahead at the floor. She didnʼt react when Ye Fei entered.

Apart from her pale complexion, she looked well-cared-for, thanks to the staff who had been instructed by Ye Fei to look after her properly.

Ye Fei smiled slightly, sat down next to her, and asked, ”How are you doing? Have you thought it through?”

In reality, Xiao Feiʼs inner turmoil was far from the calm she displayed on the outside.

During these days in confinement, she had been treated well by the staff, who promptly met all her requests.

After calming down, she had spent a lot of time online, reading various reports.

From them, she learned that her father truly deserved his fate, and as his daughter, she felt that bringing him down was the right decision.

After learning this, Xiao Feiʼs intense hatred for Ye Fei had gradually diminished. However, she still couldnʼt let go of the humiliation he had inflicted on her and her mother.

Over the past few days, she had secretly crafted a weapon.

Of course, calling it a weapon might be an exaggeration.

All she had managed to create was a makeshift dagger, sharpened from a piece of metal she had removed from a table.

Yet, she believed its sharpness was enough to kill Ye Fei.

It took Xiao Fei a great deal of resolve to make this decision. She couldnʼt help but recall the intense pleasure he had brought her that day, a feeling so powerful it seemed to dissolve her very soul.

Even in her dreams over the past few days, those moments would replay in her mind. When she woke up, she would find herself needing to change her underwear.

But that wasnʼt the most troubling part. What she couldnʼt forgive herself for was that the dreams werenʼt just about the humiliation.

More often, they were about the genuine intimacy between them, and she found herself yearning for his tender affection. This caused her great distress. She couldnʼt understand why she had such thoughts.

Could it be that she was truly captivated by his handsome appearance and extraordinary abilities?

After much internal struggle, Xiao Fei finally made up her mind. She decided to kill him and then take her own life, believing that this would truly free her mother.

As for why she would take her own life, Xiao Fei told herself it was because she had been humiliated by him and had no face left to live in this world.

But deep down, she didnʼt quite believe that was the real reason.
