Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 336: The Decaying Company (2)

The four of them exited the headquarters of the Lingyun Society together and got into Ye Feiʼs car.

As for Ye Ningsuanʼs vehicle, it would naturally be returned to her by one of the gangʼs younger members.

Once on the road, Ye Fei casually asked while driving, ”By the way, Aunt Mu, you arrived yesterday too, right? Why didnʼt you come with Sister Weier?”

Mu Ling smiled and said, ”We were originally planning to come together, but just before boarding the plane, Weier was called back by her father. By the way, Weier, I havenʼt asked you yet—what did your father want you for?”

”Nothing important!” Xu Weier, who had claimed the passenger seat, pouted and said, ”He just told me some common sense about going out and what to be mindful of once I become a celebrity, making me get used to these things before I even become famous.”

”No wonder you mentioned needing a bodyguard—it was because of this,” Mu Ling said, realizing the reason.

Ye Feiʼs heart skipped a beat; he had already guessed what had happened. With a wry smile, he said, ”Speaking of bodyguards, Iʼm the one who suffered yesterday. Sister Weier really put me through a lot. If I had known, I would have just hired a real bodyguard for her.”

”What do you mean? Who put you through a lot?” Xu Weier immediately retorted, ”I just commented that you didnʼt look like a bodyguard. Youʼre not one anyway. Hmph, I havenʼt even complained about you bullying me yesterday, and here you are tattling first.”

Although Xu Weier spoke this way, Mu Ling knew her daughterʼs character well, and Ye Fei seemed like an honest person who wouldnʼt bully her. She laughed and said, ”I didnʼt want to spoil her, which is why I didnʼt hire a real bodyguard. But it looks like Ye Fei has been wronged instead.”

If Ye Fei had known that Mu Ling considered him an honest person, he would have laughed out loud. He had taken some liberties with her last night, yet he was still seen as honest. It seemed he could afford to be even less ”honest” in the future.

By now, Ye Fei was certain that Xu Weierʼs father was connected to that person.

Only that person could have such detailed knowledge of those around him, guessing that Ye Ningsuan would send him to pick up Xu Weier and orchestrating the robbery last night.

It seemed this guy had far-reaching influence, with connections even in the remote northwest, where he had a wealthy associate.

Looking at the mature and stunning Mu Ling in the rearview mirror, Ye Fei sneered inwardly.

That Mr. Xu, whom he had yet to meet, had made him feel somewhat guilty about ”taking” his wife.

But if he was an accomplice of that person, Ye Fei would show no mercy!

Having made up his mind, Ye Fei said to Mu Ling in the back seat, ”Aunt Mu, if Sister Weier signs with us, why donʼt you stay here as well? First, you can take care of Sister Weier personally, and second, you can spend more time with my aunt.”

”Thatʼs right,” Ye Ningsuan chimed in, understanding Ye Feiʼs intentions perfectly. After all, it had been her idea for Ye Fei to want Mu Ling to stay, so she was fully supportive.

”You should stay here, Mu Ling. Since you moved to the northwest, you rarely get to visit Wang Hai City. We can revisit all our old haunts together.”

Naturally, Xu Weier also wanted her mother to stay by her side and added, ”Yeah, Mom, Iʼll be really uncomfortable if youʼre not around.”

With all three of them in agreement, and Mu Ling not particularly wanting to return home anyway, she readily agreed, much to Xu Weierʼs delight, who cheered in excitement.

Unlike the Liu family, which centralized all its administrative bodies in one place, the Ye familyʼs businesses were more scattered due to their criminal origins. Instead of having a comprehensive office building like the Liu family, the Ye familyʼs various enterprises were spread throughout Wang Hai City.

The entertainment company they were heading to was located in the northern suburbs of Wang Hai City, occupying an entire floor of a mixed-use building as both an office and a warehouse.

The four of them took the elevator to the floor where the entertainment company was located and easily entered the company, also named ”Lingyun.”

To their surprise, the vast office hall was nearly empty, with only a handful of people seated inside.

Although they hadnʼt yet visited the offices or recording studios, they could already imagine the state of affairs.

After a considerable wait, a young girl who seemed to be a receptionist finally approached them listlessly and asked, ”Are you here for an advertisement?”

Ye Fei was left speechless. He had known that the Ye familyʼs entertainment company wasnʼt doing well, but he hadnʼt expected it to be this bad—relying on advertisements just to get by.

Xu Weier also expressed her dissatisfaction, saying, ”Ye Fei, you canʼt be serious about having me sign with a company like this, can you?”

The receptionist, noticing that the group was ignoring her and talking amongst themselves, became impatient and said, ”If you have no business here, please leave.”

”Call your person in charge over here!” a commanding voice rang out. It wasnʼt Ye Fei who spoke, but Ye Ningsuan. Having held the position of CEO of the Ye Corporation for so long, she naturally exuded an air of authority.

The receptionist now took a closer look at the group. Her attention had initially been focused on Ye Fei and Xu Weier—finding the man handsome and the woman stunningly beautiful, though one seemed naive and the other rather laid-back.

However, upon seeing the two stunningly beautiful women behind them, she was taken aback, especially by the one who had spoken.

The receptionist dared not meet her gaze and quickly said, ”Please wait a moment. Iʼll get our manager right away.”

With that, she hurried toward an office.

Ye Fei, on the other hand, was transfixed by the queen-like demeanor of Ye Ningsuan. She had always been a kind aunt to him, and later, she had shown an almost obsessive attachment to him—sometimes like a lovesick young girl, sometimes like a desperate woman. But this side of her was something he had never seen before, and it stirred his heart.

It wasnʼt until Ye Ningsuan cleared her throat slightly that Ye Fei snapped out of his daze. He smiled at Xu Weier and said reassuringly, ”Donʼt worry. What you see now is just the old Lingyun Company. From now on, Iʼm going to completely reform this company. It wonʼt take long before it becomes a top-tier entertainment company.”

Had they not witnessed Ye Feiʼs capabilities the previous day, Mu Ling and Xu Weier would have dismissed his words as mere boasting. But now, they had full confidence in him. They believed that if Ye Fei said it, he would surely make it happen.

After a short while, the receptionist returned, followed by a middle-aged man in his early forties, presumably the person in charge.

Upon seeing Ye Ningsuan, the initially impatient middle-aged man was taken aback. His face immediately lit up with a sincere smile as he quickened his pace and said, ”President Ye, what brings you here in person?”

”How else would I know that a prestigious entertainment company has now become an advertising firm?” Ye Fei said with a cold sneer.

He was already deeply dissatisfied with the state of affairs here—neither the receptionist nor the manager seemed to take the company seriously.

Ye Feiʼs words irked the manager, who felt he was speaking ill in front of President Ye. He asked sternly, ”And who might this be?”

”He is my nephew, Ye Fei,” Ye Ningsuan introduced him calmly, returning to her usual gentle demeanor.

”Ye Fei?” The manager repeated the name subconsciously, and immediately beads of cold sweat formed on his forehead. His body began to tremble slightly. Although he had never met Ye Fei, he had heard of his formidable reputation.

Knowing that Ye Yu had been killed by Ye Fei, the internal rumors about him were far more terrifying than what the average citizen knew.

Ye Feiʼs words had clearly expressed his dissatisfaction with the company, and the manager couldnʼt help but feel afraid.

Ignoring the managerʼs reaction, Ye Fei looked around and asked, ”Are these the only staff members in this company?”

”Well...” The manager hesitated for a moment, but ultimately dared not lie and replied honestly, ”No, our company has nearly two hundred employees, but right now... right now...” He stopped, not daring to continue.

”Whatʼs the situation now? Tell the truth!” Ye Feiʼs voice was not loud, but to the manager, it was like a thunderbolt, causing his body to shudder involuntarily.
