Urban Seduction: Housewives Club

Chapter 257: The Perilous Path to Happiness (2)

As the two figures walked away, the innkeeper couldnʼt help but shake his head and sigh. He had tried to dissuade them when he heard they were planning to enter the mountains at this time, but seeing their determination, he eventually said little more.

In his view, their chances of survival were slim. He couldnʼt help but inwardly lament for Liu Yiru, such a stunning beauty. Yet, his sigh was all that it was.

The usual patrons of this place were wealthy individuals who were no strangers to beautiful women.

Although none of them compared to Liu Yiruʼs exceptional beauty, she was clearly taken, and he harbored no unrealistic fantasies.

Following the path indicated by the innkeeper, Ye Fei and Liu Yiru made their way into the snow-covered mountain. The innkeeper, true to his local knowledge, had guided them well.

By noon, they had reached the farthest point accessible to ordinary tourists.

Of course, such a place wouldnʼt have something as rare as Bingling Grass.

Liu Yiru hadnʼt pinned her hopes on this part of the journey.

She simply planned to take Ye Fei to explore areas inaccessible to the average person once they reached the deepest point.

”Must be tired. How about we take a break?” Liu Yiru stopped at a relatively open spot, looking at Ye Fei with concern.

”Not tired!” Ye Fei laughed and jumped a few times to show he still had plenty of energy.

Liu Yiru couldnʼt help but gasp in surprise.

Although they hadnʼt walked very fast that morning, the ground had been covered with snow shortly after they set off. With each step being uneven, she felt somewhat exhausted, yet Ye Fei seemed unaffected.

Seeing her astonishment, Ye Fei realized he had overdone it. He still couldnʼt let her know he was perfectly fine at this point.

So, he quickly laughed and said, ”I guess itʼs because of your help. Iʼve been feeling better each day. How about you help me again now? Maybe I can carry you up that peak in one go!” He pointed to a very steep peak in the distance.

Liu Yiruʼs face turned red.

After the past few days, she had grown somewhat accustomed to being intimate with Ye Fei when he was conscious, but only in the privacy of their bedroom. She would never agree to do so in a place like this. So, she playfully scolded, ”Big naughty boy!”

Unbeknownst to her, she had already been subtly diverted by Ye Feiʼs topic change.

Ye Fei chuckled and asked, ”Which way do we go next?”

Liu Yiru raised her hand, checked the mini-compass on her wristwatch, and looked around before pointing in a direction.

”Letʼs head that way first. The terrain is quite rugged there. Itʼs likely that few people go there, so our chances might be better.”

”Okay!” Ye Fei nodded. For him, being with Liu Yiru was all that mattered.

Where they went was of little importance. However, the terrain in that direction was indeed treacherous.

Even with Liu Yiruʼs skills, there was a risk of danger if she wasnʼt careful.

But Ye Fei wasnʼt worried at all. With him by her side, he could always reveal that he hadnʼt truly lost his strength if necessary.

Seeing that Ye Fei had agreed, Liu Yiru said no more. She took out some food from her backpack, and the two ate a little before continuing in that direction.

From a distance, the area only seemed rugged. But as they ventured in, they realized just how perilous it was.

The uneven path was the least of their concerns.

The real danger was the snow, which had turned almost into an icy surface.

Even with their specially designed non-slip shoes, they had to tread carefully.

One misstep could send them sliding down the slope into the valley.

Despite the dangers, the two of them, hand in hand, did not regret coming here.

In fact, they were extremely happy.

Especially Liu Yiru, who felt a special sense of happiness exploring with her beloved. She almost wished the path could stretch infinitely so she could keep holding his hand.

Unfortunately, no matter how dangerous or blissful the journey, it always comes to an end.

After over an hour of trekking, they finally crossed the dangerous slope and found themselves in a narrow canyon with steep ice walls on both sides.

The canyon was extremely narrow, only wide enough for the two of them to walk side by side. Although the ground was still slippery, it was much flatter, making their walk easier.

Looking up at the sky, which seemed like just a thin line, Ye Fei couldnʼt help but marvel, ”I didnʼt expect to find such a sight in these mountains. Itʼs a pity that the path ahead is too dangerous; otherwise, it could be a great tourist spot.”

Liu Yiru smiled and was about to say something when her expression suddenly changed. Her eyes fixed on the middle of the canyon wall, and a look of pure joy spread across her face. From that spot, she sensed an extremely dense aura of natural energy, as if some valuable treasure was growing there.

However, Liu Yiruʼs joy didnʼt last long. She realized that the source of the aura was over a hundred meters above the ground.

In a normal valley, she might have taken a small risk to reach it, but the walls here were made of sheer, unyielding ice.

There was no foothold for her to climb. And even if she could break through the ice to create a space to stand, her internal strength wasnʼt enough to support her at such a height.

With no other options, Liu Yiru had to think of alternatives.

The narrow canyon was too small for a helicopter to land. It seemed she would have to wait until she could get a plane to fly up and take a look. If it was possible to stand on top, she could use a rope to lower someone down. But the chances were slim, as the two peaks on either side of the canyon were curved at the upper part, likely ending in sharp points.

It seemed that only he, before losing his strength, could safely retrieve the item.

Thinking of this, Liu Yiru instinctively glanced at Ye Fei beside her.

Ye Fei, whose purpose for coming here was to bond with Liu Yiru, hadnʼt been paying attention to any treasures.

Thus, he didnʼt notice the dense aura above.

However, he had been intently watching Liu Yiru and immediately sensed something was amiss when she looked at him. He quickly asked, ”Whatʼs wrong?”

”Nothing, nothing,” Liu Yiru shook her head hastily. She didnʼt want Ye Fei to share her disappointment, and if she told him about the item, it might cause him to feel down as well. So, she had no intention of telling him.

Although Liu Yiru didnʼt say anything, Ye Fei knew something had caused her disappointment. He shifted some of his attention from her.

Ye Feiʼs spiritual perception was incredibly powerful.

With just a momentʼs focus, he sensed the aura above and understood why Liu Yiru was upset. However, he didnʼt point it out and simply smiled, saying, ”Since everythingʼs fine, letʼs keep going.”

”Okay,” Liu Yiru agreed, taking one last look at the spot where the Bingling Grass might be, and silently followed Ye Fei, who was holding her hand, as they continued forward.

After turning a corner, Ye Fei suddenly stopped and said to Liu Yiru, ”Yiru, wait here for a moment.”
