Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 178 - 124: Challenge Task, Generous Rewards_3

Hearing this, Cao Xing was a bit puzzled and asked, “Didn’t you say those Soul-Devouring Monsters would forcibly destroy the coffins?”

“The temples here have already fallen, haven’t they?”

Carlhan shook his head, “No, these four temples are important areas of our Underground Palace. Each temple has an Advanced Magic Power Gate.”

“These gates can block the attacks of those Soul-Devouring Monsters.”

“However, over time, those monsters have been continuously attacking the gates of the temple, and I can feel the defensive power of the Magic Power Gate growing weaker and weaker.”

“Before long, the gates of the four great temples will be breached…”

“That’s why we are urging this human woman to rescue our kin.”

Cao Xing nodded in realization, “Just need to go to the four temples, open the gates, and release the Ascalon Undead inside, right?”

“Not just that.”

Carlhan said loudly, “After rescuing the Ascalon People from the four temples, you still need to head deeper into the Underground Palace, to the location of Kasha Cathedral, where Duke Baladin’s coffin is.”

“That is the most important objective.”

Cao Xing asked, “Duke Baladin?”

The Undead continued to reply, “Yes, the Duke’s coffin is one of the most crucial places in the entire Underground Palace. But I must warn you, the Soul-Devouring Demon is also there…”

“The Soul-Devouring Demon knows that the Duke’s Undead is the key, so it has been trying to break the seal on the Duke’s coffin to consume it.”

Cao Xing rolled his eyes.

“So, in the end, we still have to confront that Demon?”

Carlhan thought for a moment, then nodded, “That demon is not very strong. It’s just a third-tier demon… If it were a fourth-rank strongman of the old Imperial, it would be enough to take it on.”

“In his heyday, Duke Baladin could destroy its body with a single sword.”

Hearing this, Cao Xing gradually exhaled in relief.

It was indeed a third-tier existence, which was still within his tolerable limits.

The Undead Carlhan continued, “However, although the Soul-Devouring Demon is not strong, our powers have been greatly diminished after death.”

“Moreover, it can continue to grow stronger by devouring our spiritual bodies, and even start evolving towards the fourth rank.”

“Once it becomes a fourth-tier demon, it can forcefully break the prohibition of the palace, destroy all coffins, and devour all the Undead inside.”

“By then, it might become a fifth-rank demon!”

“For the entire Gale Snow Plain, it would be a disaster.”

Cao Xing was startled, “So, if I rescue Duke Baladin’s Undead, will there be a way to deal with it?”

The Undead Carlhan shook his head, “No, even if you rescue Duke Baladin’s Undead, you won’t be able to deal with it.”

“But only Duke Baladin has the authority to lead us Undead out of this area.”

“By then, we will look for new Ascalon Ruins as our resting place.”

Saying this, the Undead Carlhan sighed, “With your power, although you cannot defeat this Soul-Devouring Demon, you can manage to hold your own against it.”

“So what you need to do is block the soul-devouring demon’s attack, then open the Duke’s coffin, and afterward, you all can leave.”

After speaking, a hexagonal stone suddenly appeared in the hands of the Undead Carlhan, densely inscribed with patterns.

“Take this, it is the key to our Underground Palace. With it, you can open most of the coffins and gates in the palace.”

Cao Xing accepted it.

[Obtained: Ascalon Dungeon Stone Charm (Task Item)]

[Item Effect: Can be used to open doors in the Underground Palace and remove seals from coffins.]

Cao Xing weighed the Stone Talisman in his hand, “Aren’t you afraid I’ll go in and open all the coffins, then let that demon consume them?”

Listening to this, a pale smile appeared at the corners of Carlhan’s lips.

“I advise you not to do that.”

“Because if you do, we will directly destroy the entire palace, and you will be eternally buried inside, interred with our kin.”

Cao Xing rolled his eyes, “Got it, I was just saying.”

The system prompt appeared.

[The Ascalon Tomb challenge mission has been activated.]

[Mission objective: Enter the Ascalon Tomb, rescue the four great temples, and the Ascalon Undead in Kasha Cathedral.]

[Go to the Shield, Holy Sword, Torch, Huge Hammer, and other four great temples to rescue all Ascalon Undead: 0/4 (Incomplete)]

[Go to Kasha Cathedral and rescue Duke Baladin’s Undead: 0/1 (Incomplete)]

…

Seeing this prompt, awareness dawned in Cao Xing’s eyes.

The target was very clear.

Head to the Underground Palace, open the four temples, then proceed to Kasha Cathedral to open Duke Baladin’s coffin.

The Undead Carlhan urged, “So now, will you start taking action?”

But Cao Xing shook his head and said, “Not in a hurry.”

“I want to know, if we complete this mission, what will you give me?”

“Oh, and don’t think about dealing with me with a few soldiers’ Recruitment Scrolls. I’m not so easily fooled.”

Hearing this, Ji Xinyue standing beside seemed a bit embarrassed.

The Undead Carlhan glanced at Cao Xing, contemplation appeared in his deep eyes.

“If you can rescue our kin and Duke Baladin’s Undead.”

“I can give you all our Ascalon Soldiers Recruitment Scrolls. These scrolls are enough to form a squad.”

“Additionally, we will give you the Training Camp blueprints that can train Elite Level Ascalon Warriors, and as a bonus, we’ll gift you 3 Training Books.”

“Moreover, you will also gain the friendship of our Ascalon People.”

After the Undead spoke, a system prompt appeared.

[Task reward has been updated.]

[Upon completing the task, you will receive: Ascalon Soldier Recruitment Scroll *112, Ascalon Warrior Training Camp Blueprint *1, Ascalon Warrior Training Manual (Elite Level) *3]

Seeing the system prompt, Cao Xing nodded to himself.

One must say, this reward was indeed generous.

Over a hundred Recruitment Scrolls, plus a Training Camp, and three Elite Training Manuals.

Cao Xing was indeed tempted!
