Apocalypse Descent: Farming with My Harem

Chapter 174 - 123: Undead and Ghost Fire, Enter the Underground Tomb_3

“What are those patterns?” Cao Xing asked in confusion.

Renice, standing nearby, quickly walked over for a look and then said, “Lord, these are the writings of the Ascalon Empire, it seems there once was a palace here.”

“A palace?”

Cao Xing pondered for a moment and asked, “Renice, have you been here before?”

Renice shook her head, “No, the territory of the Ascalon Kingdom is vast, I was born on the border area of the Western Continent.”

“Not long after I came of age, Ascalon went to war with the Bloody Army.”

“And in the final battle, my heart was pierced, resulting in fatal damage.”

“I was supposed to die, but suddenly I heard the voice of a Divine being whispering in my ear.”

Cao Xing asked in confusion, “A Divine being?”

“Yes.”

Renice nodded, “The voice of that Divine being told me to choose between being sealed into the Summon Space to await the call of a Chosen Lord in the future or to choose to perish right there.”

After hearing Renice’s story, Cao Xing understood something.

So this is the principle of the Recruitment Scroll?

Heroic figures who should have died a thousand, even ten thousand years ago, are sealed into the Summon Space.

Then they wait for humans from Blue Star to arrive in this world and summon them back.

Including Andrew, Assam, they were all the same.

“The power of the Divine?”

Cao Xing mused.

He continued to ask, “Renice, do you know the meaning of the characters above?”

Renice took a look and then nodded, “The characters above seem to be saying, пайӗ.”

“Translated, it means Hell.”

Upon hearing this, Ji Xinyue exclaimed, “That’s right, those undead keep repeating this word every night when they appear, so that’s what it means!”

“Hell?”

Cao Xing was bewildered.

He pondered for a moment, shook his head, and decided not to dwell on this problem any further.

They continued their journey.

The deeper they went into the forest, the more eerie their surroundings became, and the more ruins there were.

Through these ruins, it was barely discernible that there once was a cluster of buildings here.

But for some reason, these buildings have disappeared.

Or rather, sunk into the earth.

At this time, a faint blue light appeared in the forest center.

Ji Xinyue excitedly said, “We are almost there, ahead is where I discovered the Ascalon Tomb.”

With that, she couldn’t help but quicken her pace.

Following her winding path, they soon arrived at the place emitting the light.

Here they were indeed at the center of the forest.

However, the glowing things were not a light source of any kind.

Rather, they were clusters of blue ghost fire floating in mid-air.

[Resentful Spirit Ghost Fire (lv8)]

[Life Value: 640]

[Skill: Self-Destruction (Upon being attacked, it will detonate all its energy, causing damage equal to Life Value*50% to surrounding enemies.)]

(Description: A type of ghost fire that forms in areas with heavy Yin energy. Do not attack it recklessly.)

…

Upon seeing the skill description, Cao Xing immediately abandoned any thought of touching these ghost fire.

Meanwhile.

Ji Xinyue had already arrived amid a ruin.

Standing atop a pile of scattered stones, the woman wielding a great sword said, “It’s right here, there is an underground passage.”

“Once you go down here, you’ll reach the Ascalon Tomb.”

Cao Xing walked over after hearing this.

He indeed saw in the midst of the ruins a stone staircase.

There was also map information on it.

Cao Xing glanced at it.

[Ascalon Tomb]

[Danger: Extremely Dangerous]

[Map Description: This was once the palace of the Ascalon Kingdom. After a war, the King of Ascalon, Edburn, decided to sink the palace into the ground and bind all the soldiers’ souls within the palace. Over time, it became the tomb of the Ascalon people.]

…

“Extremely dangerous again?”

Cao Xing contemplated for a moment and then asked, “How is the strength of those undead inside?”

Ji Xinyue replied, “Those undead are all above level 20, and there are even a few elite undead that surpass my level by 20, and they’re numerous.”

“Just the ones I saw already exceed a hundred!”

“With so many Ascalon Undead, if they were to march out in full force, I feel they could even destroy an army of several thousand!”

At this point, Ji Xinyue paused, “However, those undead will not attack us.”

“They just want me to help solve the demon consuming the Ascalon Undead inside.”

Cao Xing was stunned, it seemed the demon inside was truly strong!

According to Ji Xinyue, more than a hundred third-tier undead were a considerable force.

Of course, it could also be that the demon had ways to specifically target these undead.

Cao Xing pondered for a while and decided to go and have a look at the situation first.

“Let’s go, we’ll go down first.”

Having said that, he jumped off Da Bai’s back with Liu Muxue.

Due to the narrow passage, the mammoth couldn’t possibly enter.

So Cao Xing had to leave Da Bai outside.

Ji Xinyue’s tiger was also left outside.

“Blom, clear the way ahead,” Cao Xing ordered.

Blom raised his door-panel-sized shield and said cheerfully, “No problem, respected Lord, you all just follow behind Blom!”

With that said, he took the lead and charged into the tunnel.

Then Assam and Andrew and others followed suit.

Cao Xing, Liu Muxue, and Ji Xinyue walked at the back of the team.

As soon as they entered the underground area, a system prompt appeared.
