Naruto: Orochimaru's Disciple

Chapter 310: Chapter 310: Uchiha Hikari

Chapter 310: Uchiha Hikari

”Uchiha Hikari? That’s a good name. Your parents must have hoped you would have a bright future.” Amamiya Kenichi smiled.

For some reason, he felt like he had heard that name before.

He just couldn’t remember where.

Still, the fact that her surname was Uchiha was not surprising. The moment he saw her Sharingan, he had already known she was from the Uchiha Clan.

And for someone so young to possess the Mangekyo Sharingan, that was genuinely astonishing.

Or perhaps it was easier for the Uchiha of the chaotic Sengoku period to awaken their Sharingan? Back then, the clan’s bloodline had probably been purer, and their inherited genetic information was likely closer to that of their ancestors.

If that were true, it would make awakening the Mangekyo much easier.

”I... I don’t know...” Hikari lowered her head and curled up in the corner, wrapping her arms around her legs as she cautiously looked around.

She had no idea what kind of world this had become, but from what the kind man in front of her had said, a very long time had passed since her era.

Did that mean she was truly alone now?

Hikari felt a little lost.

”What do you plan to do next?” Amamiya Kenichi asked.

He could certainly arrange this girl’s future. After all, he was the first person she had met after being freed from the seal. If he handled it properly, planting some suggestions in her mind would not be difficult.

But as he looked at her, his expression turned slightly strange.

He had always felt there was something oddly familiar about her, but he had never been able to put his finger on it.

Now, looking at those confused eyes, he suddenly understood.

Isn’t this just a female version of Sasuke?

The Uchiha Clan rarely produced anyone unattractive to begin with, and with her long black hair and delicate features, calling her a female Sasuke really was not much of a stretch.

The only question was whether her personality was similar too.

That instantly reminded Amamiya Kenichi of a gender-bent Sasuke fanfic he had once read.

He had to admit, it had been bizarre.

”I don’t know...” Hikari shook her head.

She truly had no idea what she was supposed to do.

From birth, she had only enjoyed a brief period of peace before being taken away and turned into an experiment.

Every day afterward had been filled with inhuman torment. Strange patterns were carved onto her body. Her parents died. In the end, she was even sealed inside that stone.

She had known nothing but endless darkness. No sound. No light.

She had almost gone mad.

And now, after finally being saved, she had learned that the era she knew was gone, and everything in the world had changed.

”My relationship with the current head of the Uchiha Clan is pretty good. Do you want to go back and take a look?” Amamiya Kenichi asked carefully.

He wanted to test her current state of mind. That would make certain things easier later.

”H-head? What’s that?” Hikari looked at him in confusion.

”...The clan head,” Amamiya Kenichi corrected, the corner of his mouth twitching.

He had been thinking about things from his previous life again, and some weird slang had slipped out without him noticing.

Well. He had definitely watched too many films.

”Uchiha...” Hikari’s eyes became a little vacant.

Amamiya Kenichi frowned slightly. Why did this girl seem a little slow?

Could there be something wrong with her mind? That shouldn’t be the case.

Then again, considering she had been sealed inside that stone for so long and had only just been released today, he quickly calmed down.

She was probably just in a dazed state, like someone who had only just woken up from a very long sleep.

”But I still need to go to Hidden Mist first.” Amamiya Kenichi glanced down at the forest below, then toward a tiny dark speck in the distance, the direction of Hidden Cloud Village. His expression darkened immediately.

He had undeniably taken a loss against Hidden Cloud today.

He truly had not expected those maniacs from Hidden Cloud to be that extreme, especially A. Just to kill him, the man had directly had Killer Bee fire off a Tailed Beast Ball.

However, for Killer Bee, that was basically a free attack. Gyūki’s strength was immense, and the Eight Tails’ chakra reserves were absurd. Firing a Tailed Beast Ball barely counted as a burden.

Still, that grudge was now firmly settled.

Not only had A blown up his airship, he had also sent him flying halfway across the map. Even though his Sage Body had already healed the damage, every time Amamiya Kenichi thought about it, he ground his teeth.

”No, I need to find a way...” Amamiya Kenichi rubbed his chin.

His approach to revenge had always been very flexible. If the enemy was at roughly his level, he would take revenge on the spot. If the gap in strength was too large, then a gentleman’s revenge ten years later was not too late.

His principles were very adaptable.

Now that Hidden Cloud Village had hot air balloons for aerial defense, it meant that future bombing runs with airships would become much harder. A and Killer Bee were probably watching the skies like hawks now.

But if he didn’t get revenge, it would feel wrong too.

Hmm?

Amamiya Kenichi suddenly thought of something he had done to Konoha before.

The moment that idea surfaced, he already knew how to handle this problem.

”Big Brother, I’ve decided.” At that moment, Hikari seemed to have finally made up her mind. She raised her head, trembling slightly as she looked at Amamiya Kenichi.

”So, what do you want to do?” Amamiya Kenichi put on a warm and professional smile as he looked at her.

According to psychological research, when someone is saved at the edge of death, their mental state is at its most unstable. It is also the easiest moment to plant a deep impression in their heart.

Amamiya Kenichi intended to implant the image of a ”warm and reliable big brother” into Hikari’s mind. That way, once her abilities were fully assessed later, it would be easier to make use of her talent.

Still, her name kept sounding familiar to him, as though he had encountered it somewhere before.

”My... my parents are dead. I don’t have any family anymore. I don’t have any friends either. I want to stay with you... Is... is that okay?” Hikari started loudly enough, but the further she went, the softer her voice became, until the final words were almost inaudible.

Amamiya Kenichi raised a brow.

Hikari had lowered her head again, nervously twisting the hem of her clothes. It was obvious that she was extremely anxious.

So she was insecure.

He instantly recognized it.

Sure enough, things would not be that simple.

After a long silence, the light in Hikari’s eyes dimmed even further.

She already knew the answer.

She was nothing but a burden. She had no way to help anyone. The only thing of value she possessed was that cursed power that had brought her endless disaster.

Even though Big Brother had saved her, even though he had kindly given her clothes, worthless people like her were only ever thrown away like trash.

My heart feels so tired.

Maybe I really should just die.

A useless person like me, Big Brother definitely won’t want me around, right?

That must be it.

My life has always been like this...

As Hikari spiraled deeper into those thoughts, a hand suddenly rested on her head and ruffled her hair into a mess.

Her first reaction was not surprise, but panic.

Will my dirty hair stain Big Brother’s hand?

”Alright then. Can I call you Hikari?” Amamiya Kenichi’s warm voice sounded right beside her ear.

For some reason, Hikari’s nose stung. Tears began to fall one after another, splashing onto the floorboards below.

She hurriedly tried to wipe them away with her clothes.

She was dirty. Even her tears were dirty.

But when she looked at the clean clothes on her body, clothes that still carried the scent of sunshine, she hesitated again.

”Eh? Why are you crying?” Amamiya Kenichi asked, looking genuinely worried as he offered her a clean handkerchief.

”I... I...” Hikari wanted to refuse.

She didn’t deserve something so clean.

But then she felt her face gently lifted, and when she looked up, what she saw were the concerned eyes of the black-haired boy before her, with bright sunlight shining behind him.

Something soft brushed her face.

Hikari stared blankly as he carefully wiped away her tears. At that moment, it almost felt as though even the wounds in her heart were being soothed.

”That looks much better.” Amamiya Kenichi gently wiped the tears from Hikari’s face, then noticed the blank look in her eyes and smiled.

This girl really was adorable when she was dazed.

Come to think of it, if Naruto ever became his disciple, would he need a junior sister?

”Come on. We still have serious things to do.” Amamiya Kenichi chuckled as he helped Hikari up and looked her in the eyes.

”Big Brother Amamiya... what is this?” Sitting at the table, Hikari curiously stared at the steaming pot in front of her. It bubbled constantly and released a rich, unfamiliar aroma.

”This is hot pot, Hikari. You need to remember this. With me, eating is always the most important thing.” Amamiya Kenichi wore a solemn expression.

Seeing him so serious, Hikari instinctively straightened up and tried to look serious too.

But she was still a child, and she had also been sealed away for a very long time. She was starving. At that moment, her eyes kept drifting helplessly toward the slices of meat nearby.

Amamiya Kenichi nearly laughed.

The way she tried to act solemn while obviously drooling inside was just too funny.

”Come on, I’ll teach you. This is how you eat hot pot.” Amamiya Kenichi demonstrated with a slice of beef.

Watching him carefully, Hikari also picked up her chopsticks and imitated his movements. At the same time, the Mangekyo in her eyes slowly turned.

Amamiya Kenichi almost laughed again.

Using the Mangekyo Sharingan to learn how to eat hot pot...

Uchiha Hikari, you were probably the first person in history to do that.

The moment the steaming beef entered her mouth, Hikari instantly scalded herself and opened her mouth, gasping for air. But then she hurriedly closed it again and swallowed the meat, looking at Amamiya Kenichi with a guilty expression.

In the past, whenever she had eaten like this, those bad men would hit her.

”Hikari, don’t eat like that next time. Chew slowly. If you swallow food that hot, you’ll hurt your throat,” Amamiya Kenichi said with a frown.

In his previous life, throat cancer had been common in part because people habitually swallowed scalding food too quickly, damaging the throat and esophagus over time. Amamiya Kenichi had always been careful about that.

”Yes, I understand!” Hikari nodded quickly, the guilt on her face easing a little as she showed a faint smile.

Amamiya Kenichi also smiled and continued teaching her how to eat.

It had to be said, Hikari truly was starving.

On top of that, children at the growing stage could eat like bottomless pits. In the end, Hikari successfully wiped out Amamiya Kenichi’s already limited food reserves.

And afterward, she still looked like she hadn’t had enough.

Amamiya Kenichi could not help but laugh at that.

Then he looked at her and rubbed his chin.

”Come on. I’ll take you to buy some clothes, and you should take a bath too.” He looked down. Not far below, there was a small town. He should be able to buy some clothes there and also let Hikari clean herself up.

Hikari blinked her large eyes.

My name is Uchiha Hikari.

People used to call me nameless, because I wasn’t allowed to have a name. They only ever called me ”hey.”

Later, when I grew a little older, some strange people took me away. They tortured me. They carved strange patterns onto my body. They said I was some kind of weapon that would change the future of the clan.

I missed Mother and Father so much, but I could never see them again.

It hurt so much.

It hurt so much that I wanted to die.

I hated those other members of the Uchiha Clan. They never treated me like family. To them, I was only a weapon. They said my fate was to fight the Senju Clan.

Why did they have to fight?

I hated fighting...

I don’t know how much time passed after that. I only know that, in the end, they locked me inside a stone.

Inside that stone, I could hear nothing and see nothing.

This world was terrible.

I hated it.

I hated this hateful world.

But now, everything has changed.

Because I met a kind Big Brother.

His name is Amamiya Kenichi.

He saved me, and he even taught me how to eat delicious hot pot.

Big Brother Amamiya doesn’t dislike me.

He even worries about me.

He doesn’t think I’m a burden.

Big Brother Amamiya is a truly gentle person.

He even took me to buy clothes and let me take a bath...

Hikari looked at herself in the mirror, gently drying her hair with a towel.

For the first time in her life, she smiled.
