Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 381: Chapter 211: Mercury’s Pact (Part 3)

At this moment, without the influence of the Desire Mother Goddess, Wu Chang could still see a clear pink glow on Fang Hui.

If Fang Hui could develop this power, he would undoubtedly qualify as one of the core members of the Management Bureau, his talent even surpassing that of Sword Star, who completed the Sword Cultivator reincarnation in the Desolate Realm.

However, whether using this power would have side effects is uncertain.

While the Mother Goddess was in chaos, causing Fang Hui to continuously shift between his original form and feminization, Wu Chang noticed that Fang Hui’s degree of feminization seemed to change according to the depth of the pink glow.

It’s unclear whether he will still have this issue after the Mother Goddess leaves.

While Wu Chang was thinking, Meng Yawen carefully walked over to him and asked, ”Can I take him away?”

Meng Yawen was not someone who was courteous, but Wu Chang’s displayed strength made her act politely.

The Mother Goddess’s words were not spoken privately; Meng Yawen heard them clearly from the side. Wu Chang eliminated the Mother Goddess using Authority!

Even though she didn’t know how Wu Chang did it, there was no doubt that facing a strong person with Authority, not even a God would dare to speak loudly.

Wu Chang waved his hand, indicating Meng Yawen should take Fang Hui away.

Meng Yawen picked up Fang Hui and whispered over her shoulder, ”I won’t tell anyone about your possession of Authority.”

With that, she took Fang Hui and left the Stone Temple.

Having resolved Fang Hui’s danger, Wu Chang returned to He Yun’s side and said:

”All the hindrances are gone now, it’s time to resolve all this.”

He Yun nodded and led Wu Chang and He Yi to the Desire Stele.

The Desire Stele is a concrete manifestation of the Mother Goddess’s Divine Power, and it didn’t disappear along with the erasure of the Mother Goddess’s projection.

This is because the power on the Desire Stele does not only come from the Mother Goddess but also from the wish-makers who left marks on the stele.

In mythology, devils make deals with humans, satisfying human desires but charging the soul of the trader as payment.

The Desire Mother Goddess doesn’t need such trouble; she simply continually fulfills the desires of her followers.

As followers get immersed in desires, becoming slaves to desire, their souls naturally fall into her hands.

Everyone who wrote their desires on the stele becomes her property from the moment of inscription, and after death, their souls merge into the stele.

Originally, this stele was all the Divine Power accumulated by the Desire Mother Goddess. If she completed the Divine Descent Ceremony and fully merged with Fang Hui, she could absorb the Desire Stele.

By that time, the fully smuggled version of the Desire Mother Goddess, her projection would be unprecedentedly powerful, perhaps truly capable of using Authority in the Desolate Realm.

Unfortunately, there were no ifs.

The Mother Goddess encountered Wu Chang before merging with the Desire Stele and was erased by Authority.

This left the massive Divine Power accumulated in the entire stele cheaply available to the Underground Shelter.

This was the Divine Power that the Desire Mother Goddess accumulated over hundreds of years, witnessing the rise of a civilization, strong enough to seal her projection.

Using it as energy for Shelter 88, it would last them for a thousand years.

If the mastermind behind everything was the Desire Mother Goddess, then the story would be a joyful conclusion here.

But things weren’t that simple.

He Yun looked at the Desire Stele and said to Wu Chang and He Yi:

”Earlier, I said that when I decided to face everything, I remembered what happened back then, I remembered why the Underground Shelter fell into the time loop, and I also remembered why I lost my memory.”

”The root of it all was the one that Peace mentioned, Mercury.”

Upon hearing this name, He Yi’s drone again emitted the ”Warning,” ”Warning” alert sound.

Compared to the Mother Goddess who imprisoned his soul, trapping him on the day of failure, Mercury, the betrayer, undoubtedly made him even more enraged.

He Yi asked: ”What did he do?”

He Yun furrowed her brows, showing a struggling expression, as if recalling that memory caused her pain.

”Back then, according to the plan, I came to the Desire Stele ready to amend the erroneous rules, to try to salvage everything. But the death of the team members, and brother, your entanglement in the Calamity Fog, falling into crisis, made me panic.”

”Everything was different from our plan, and a voice began to echo in my ears, telling me it was all because of me, because of my arrogance, trying to control the power of the Desire Stone by writing rules on it, leading the Underground Shelter into crisis.”

”Because of my mistake, the team members had to take risks entering the Stone Divine Hall, succumbing to the influence of the Calamity Fog, dying tragically there.”

”Also to protect me, brother, your shield shattered, and you had to sacrifice yourself to buy me time.”

”I was the source of all disasters, all my actions only brought misfortune.”

Recalling what happened that day, even knowing that Mercury secretly interfered, He Yun still found it hard to forgive herself.

She took a deep breath, preparing to calm her emotions, when suddenly her hand was grasped by someone, a soothing warmth spread through her palm to her heart.

She turned to look at Wu Chang, and her inner fear and unease instantly dissipated by half, a thought rising in her mind, as though as long as the person before her was there, she could accomplish anything.

She exhaled the murky energy inside her body and continued:

”Under the whispers in my ears, I began to lose judgment, also losing confidence, not daring to take risks or make any moves.”

”At that moment, Mercury appeared, and he made me sign an agreement.”
