Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 370: Chapter 208: He Yi’s Grievance (Part 2)

He grasped the long saber behind him with a reverse grip, and as the sharp sound of wind breaking echoed, light began to glow from his hand holding the saber, spreading along his arm to the entire mecha while also traveling along the blade to the tip.

The light quickly enveloped the three-meter-long mechanical long saber, and the glow on the blade was like an invisible air blade. Even the Calamity Fog would be sliced open by the saber’s aura.

Next, He Yi swung the long saber forward with immense effort, the blade carrying an unstoppable force, shattering something.

It was not until the sound of breaking occurred that He Yun belatedly realized the attack. She looked at He Yi, her eyes filled with guilt.

Because the attack from the Calamity Fog was aimed at both of them simultaneously.

He Yi was able to react, but he only had the opportunity for one strike. He used that strike to shatter the attack aimed at He Yun.

In contrast, his own mecha’s protective shield was pierced by an unknown energy.

Looking at the gradually surging Calamity Fog, He Yi remained utterly unwavering, without a trace of emotion in his voice.

”Don’t just stand there, go quickly!”

Wu Chang soon realized why He Yi was elected as the leader of the Underground Shelter and why Mercury, who toyed with everyone, didn’t use more direct methods but instead went to great lengths to stage a play.

Because this guy was truly fierce.

Affected by the Calamity Fog, various fog-like enemies began to continuously emerge around them. These enemies piloted different kinds of mechas, with combat capabilities clearly exceeding those of the zombie mechas Wu Chang and He Yun had encountered. They should be the strongest warriors from other Underground Shelters.

Wu Chang and He Yun had experienced the Calamity Fog once before, knowing that within the fog, the more enemies you kill, the more they appear. The best strategy is not to kill aggressively, but to flee more and fight less, finding the nodes of the Calamity Fog domain while there are still fewer enemies.

But that was under conditions where the Calamity Fog wasn’t dense.

With the density of the Calamity Fog in the Stone Temple, even if a node is breached, it will quickly become affected again.

If Wu Chang had to handle the current situation, his responses would either involve the Four-sided Age Fire Lamp or trying his luck with the Five Thunders Technique to see which thunder might suppress the Calamity Fog.

However, He Yi’s approach was straightforward confrontation.

He worried that letting too many monsters gather would impair his senses, leaving him unable to fend off stealth attacks piercing his defense.

Confronted with the powerful mecha warriors continuously emerging from the fog, He Yi slashed through them like a walk in the park, making the mecha combat look like an unmatched spectacle.

Wu Chang had no doubt that if He Yi were alive, and the helmeted man harbored intentions toward He Yun, he would don his mecha and swiftly cut the helmeted man apart.

However, He Yi was not truly invincible. During the advancement, each time he intercepted an attack targeting He Yun, it exposed a flaw that the mecha warriors formed from the Calamity Fog would not pass up.

The most perilous moment nearly saw an opponent’s charged sniper shot almost pierce through He Yi’s chest. Although He Yi had dodged just in time, the right flank of his mecha was grazed open, and the badge representing him as the shelter leader was knocked to the corner of the Divine Temple.

A bit further in, and it would have pierced his body,

but the damage to the mecha did nothing to stop his forward advancement.

Under He Yi’s relentless advance, he soon escorted He Yun to the main hall of the Divine Temple.

He stood guard at the entrance of the hall, patting He Yun on the shoulder, saying, ”He Yun, from here on, it’s up to you.”

Not until He Yun entered the Divine Temple did He Yi’s expression change, as he leaned against the stone pillar of the main hall entrance.

He complained to the mist warriors continuously forming, ”If I had known things would turn out like this, I would’ve slaughtered you all one by one before the action so that even if I’m not around, no one could bully Xiaoyun.”

Unfortunately, the mecha warriors condensed from the Calamity Fog had nothing to say.

What followed was an endless battle. When the mecha’s energy ran out, deprived of the support from the mecha, He Yi quickly sustained injuries until he could no longer rise.

Lying on the ground, He Yi used the last of his strength to look up at the main hall.

He saw the light inside growing ever brighter.

”Looks like I won’t see the result with my own eyes.”

With that, He Yi’s vision went black, and he completely lost consciousness.

After an indeterminate amount of time, He Yi opened his eyes again and looked up to see a familiar ceiling.

No, it was the familiar Calamity Fog, with dense fog obscuring his view of the temple ceiling.

”I’m still alive?”

Not only was he alive, but the injuries from his deathbed battle had miraculously all healed.

The Calamity Fog within the temple remained dense, yet it no longer affected him, as if he did not exist.

”This is not scientific.”

A voice whispered in his ear, ”No, this is very scientific.”

He Yi turned his head to see Mercury, dressed in a suit, standing beside him.

Facing Mercury, He Yi quickly adopted an expressionless face, asking, ”You saved me?”

Mercury shrugged and said, ”Of course, is there a second person here besides me?”

He Yi remarked in surprise, ”It’s the first time I know you’re a doctor, and you can heal so thoroughly.”

Mercury waved the staff entwined with twin snakes in his hand, replying, ”Don’t you know the staff entwined with twin snakes is a doctor’s emblem?”

He Yi puzzled, ”I thought the doctor’s staff only had one snake?”

Mercury said, ”Don’t mind these details. Many military medical systems and hospitals choose a staff with snakes as their emblem because it looks good. That’s not the point; the point is I saved you.”
