Beating Instances through Words Left by the Dead

Chapter 337: Chapter 198: Retrospect!

Speaking of what happened underground in the shelter, Wu Chang was instantly no longer sleepy, his eyes lit up, and his ears perked up.

He Yun gazed into the depths of the circuit passage and slowly recounted the past of the Underground Shelter.

In the plane where He Yun existed, the surface had gradually become unsuitable for human habitation due to increasingly harsh weather.

To continue surviving, humanity gradually split into two factions.

The Star Faction and the Earth Faction.

The Star Faction believed that the future of human civilization lay in space and wanted to create a space version of Noah’s Ark to take the Fire Seed of humanity away from Earth Star in search of a planet suitable for Life.

The idea was good, but the problem was that at the time, no habitable planets other than Earth Star had been discovered, making this choice full of uncertainty.

Conversely, the Earth Faction advocated constructing underground cities, which could isolate pollution from the surface, still allow humans to stay on Earth Star, and continue trying to purify the surface environment.

Once the surface returned to normal values, returning from the underground would be much easier.

In the end, more than ninety-nine percent of humanity chose the Earth Faction.

Underground Shelter No. 88 was one of the underground cities built by the Earth Faction at the time.

Initially, the Star Faction and the Earth Faction were just different solutions, and there was still intercommunication between them.

But as the situation developed, die-hard supporters on both sides gradually became extreme, believing that only their own path was the sole path.

The slogan ”The underground is humanity’s true destination” quickly came to the fore, and some ancient conspiracy theories and science fiction stories began to appear in the public eye.

For example, ”Life originated from the inner Earth,” ”The inner Earth is not filled with magma but rather a beautiful Inner Earth World.”

Eventually evolving into slogans like ”Light comes from underground, and crisis comes from above!”

The original plan to temporarily avoid the surface underground while waiting for the surface environment to recover turned into deterring from entering the surface, believing that to have a future, one must go deeper underground.

However, putting aside whether an underground world exists, the development of the Underground Shelter indeed required consistently going downward.

Whether it was to expand living space or to seek resources and energy, going downwards aligned with everyone’s interests.

Shelter No. 88 did so and indeed excavated something underground.

More than five kilometers below the surface, they dug into a Special Space.

It was not the legendary Inner Earth World, but what was inside excited the residents of Shelter No. 88 even more.

Energy existed there, limitless Energy.

Simply directing circuits into the underground space could yield endless electricity, as if the air there was a gaseous Thunder.

The discovery of vast Energy supported the rapid development of Shelter No. 88; whether in city construction or scientific research, the pace of development was faster than when humanity was on the surface!

Meanwhile, the exploration of the underground Special Space also progressed simultaneously.

During the exploration, people discovered an ancient Divine Temple deep in the Special Space, and by deciphering the inscriptions on the stele before the temple, they learned that the power of this space all originated from the God enshrined in the Divine Temple.

The Energy leaking from the temple alone was inexhaustibly available to them, and if the secrets within the temple were deciphered, wouldn’t they reach the heavens?

Thus, Shelter No. 88 organized an expedition team to explore the temple, thinking they would open a door to the future, but instead, they opened Pandora’s box.

Their exploration destroyed the original seals within the temple, causing a large amount of white fog to gush out, which not only annihilated the entire expedition team but also engulfed everything constructed in the Special Space.

To resist the white fog, the Underground Shelter could only seal off the deeper passages and dispatch people for regular inspections.

Sealing the Special Space underground was not the end of the disaster for Shelter No. 88, but merely the beginning.

Because from that day on, Shelter No. 88 was trapped in an endless time loop, from which no one could escape.

After listening to He Yun’s story, Wu Chang immediately asked, ”What role did you play in this story?”

He Yun’s complexion turned somewhat grim, and he gazed into the depths of the passageway, saying, ”I was the only Survivor from the temple exploration team back then. The person in charge of that expedition was my brother.”

Wu Chang: ”So, you’ve seen the underground Divine Temple with your own eyes? What kind of structure is it?”

He Yun didn’t know why Wu Chang was asking this, but he still replied, ”It was a massive stone temple of great antiquity, with hieroglyphs still in use in the hall.”

Upon hearing this, Wu Chang couldn’t help but click his tongue.

Fang Hui, that rascal, really knows how to get into trouble. If there’s no accident, the stone structure where Fang Hui is currently under house arrest is precisely the Divine Temple of calamity mentioned by He Yun.

But in a way, that’s good; there’s no need to ponder who comes first or last. Perhaps he can save Fang Hui while breaking through the game instance.

Wu Chang took a few deep breaths to expel the lingering scent of Calamity Fog from his lungs and asked:

”There must be more reason for telling me all this than just sharing a story.”

He Yun nodded, his gaze becoming resolute.

”I’ve always wanted to return to that space to re-seal the temple, but because of my past experiences, I find it hard to face the Calamity Fog, so I haven’t been able to take action.”

”But you are my opposite; you can entirely resist the Calamity Fog, and your strength is strong enough, making you the best candidate to enter the underground with me!”
