Death… And Me

Chapter 3372  No Interest

”How did you know it was going to close on them?” Herbert asked, curious.

Roan shook his head. ”Nothing hard to imagine. When we got close to this room, it showed us an illusion of what the outside looked like. It obviously wanted us inside while we just happened to be looking for an exit. That said, why would it allow us to go out of this room after luring us here? I just guessed that this place wouldnʼt let us go out since it hasnʼt done anything to us yet. Otherwise, luring us here would have been meaningless.”

Roan then looked at the survivors who just lost their Flying Demon Beast. ”They most likely saw the some illusion since they rushed inside this room without any care.”

Everyone had to admit Roanʼs words made sense.

Following that, Herbert turned in the newcomersʼ direction. ”What did you see when you were getting close to this room?”

The leader of that small group quickly stepped forward and bowed politely. ”Se-senior Herbert, we just thought we saw the mist library you described back then. We had no intention of bothering you.” Different from before, there werenʼt more Space-Time Realm experts to keep an eye on each other. Thatʼs why this group was afraid since Herbert alone could simply get rid of them without worrying about anyone else.

Herbert sighed, waving his hand. ”As long as you donʼt try anything funny, I wonʼt touch you either. Of course, if it comes to my life or yours, then I can only say sorry. But at the moment, I wonʼt do anything.”

The guys sighed in relief, thanking Herbert many times. In any case, their words confirmed Roanʼs explanation earlier. Those guys did indeed see an illusion of what they wanted before entering this room.

More and more of the Holographic Screens continued to disappear. Later on, another small group arrived, this time walking into the room on foot. They, too, saw Herbert and immediately thought about running out. However, Rean intervened, saving their lives in the last second before the exit smashed them to bits. Without another choice, they stayed in the room as well, moving to a corner and just waiting to see what would happen.

Finally, the last screen disappeared as the group shown there got the worst luck, falling into a deadly trap. By now, the room where the twinsʼ group was waiting had just Forty-two experts between humanoid races, demon beasts, and spirits. The twinsʼ group made up fifteen of that number, which included Herbertʼs Clan members. The others were latecomers who were lucky enough to get here. Or perhaps they were unlucky since there were traps that simply teleported you out of the building. Nonetheless, that number was nothing compared to the number that first entered the Pyramid/Tower.

Everything went silent for a moment; no one talked, waiting for the next development. Suddenly, a much bigger screen than the others earlier appeared. On the other side, the image of a huge book enveloped in a white mist could be seen. It stood on top of an altar that seemed connected by many formations to the room around it.

The white mist of the book changed form in the next second, taking the shape of a humanoid being, although very small, more like a doll. -Forty-two, uh? It has truly been a long time since I had this many participants here.-

The twins and Herbert recognized that voice. It was the Mist Library sentience. -You must be wondering why you are here. Well, you are in luck. The Mist Library has three different forms. The first one is the Pyramid, which is made to get rid of anyone trying to enter it before the Mist Bookmarks are presented. After opening the entrance of the Mist Library with the Mist Bookmarks, the Mist Library takes its second form, the tower. In this, you will be able to take the trial and even share your spoils with your companions in case you make it through.-

The Sentience looked in Reanʼs direction, and its expression didnʼt seem very good. -Well, only you managed to pass the amphoraʼs trial, so that was quite disappointing.-

Reanʼs mouth twitched. He didnʼt really complete it at all. Back then, he cursed the Library, and it allowed him inside just to completely ignore his request and send him out with empty hands. The only good thing was that Roan and the others at least got something.

The Mist Libraryʼs Sentience obviously knew that and didnʼt feel the least bit ashamed of its actions. -Finally, after enough time goes by, the Mist Library will change into its last form, the castle.-

The images on the screen then changed, now showing the outside. The place where the Pyramid/Tower last existed now became a castle of blocks, just as big. The screen quickly returned to the Mist Book a moment later.

-The last group to come here didnʼt see this form. They left before they could find out about it. But, this time, with the number of experts getting inside, most of them refused to give up and were still here once the time was over. Thus, you all experienced the challenges of the third shape. You are truly quite lucky, as you will have a chance to acquire the treasure left behind by the Mist Libraryʼs Master.-

Everyone in the room was taken aback. The Master of the Mist Library? Just what kind of character is that? Sure enough, everyone felt their hearts racing... or almost everyone.

”Ahem...” Rean raised his hand. ”My group has no interest in the treasure. Can you just teleport us outside, please? Thank you, and good luck to everyone who stays.”

Even Herbert didnʼt expect that. Sure, he also tried to go out earlier, but now there truly seemed to be something incredible ahead. How could they give up that easily?

The Mist Libraryʼs Sentience looked just as surprised as the rest. -The treasure is truly, truly good, you know...?-

Roan spoke this time. ”Still have no interest. Thank you for the offer.”

-But you will definitely regret it...- The Libraryʼs sentience insisted.

”Brother, we donʼt want it! Let us out, will ya?” Kentucky also added his piece.

For a moment, the sentience went silent. Its master had left no instructions regarding what to do if the participants didnʼt have any interest in its treasure. It had never happened before.
