Death… And Me

Chapter 3246  Merge, Eat, Control

Rean and the others left Karev and Marev alone in their own corner. Foliana decided to follow Rean since she didnʼt have anything better to do anyway. Then, getting by the Abyssal Soul Shard, Roan spoke to Sister Orb. ”Isolate the Shardʼs surrounding so it canʼt escape, but let any kind of soul-related power or signal reach it from the outside.”

[Okay. However, Iʼm still not very sure about what kind of connection this shard has with its main soul, so I will need to open a small passage between the inside and the outside to make sure there is a path.]

Roan nodded. ”As long as you can guarantee it canʼt escape, it wonʼt be a problem.”

As Sister Orb prepared, Rean took the chance to leave as well. ”Iʼm going out and moving to somewhere else on the planet. If the Abyssal Soul uses this opportunity to call reinforcements or whatever, you can simply close the Dimensional Realm and come out of it on my side. That way, our Dimensional Realm will also disappear from this location.”

*Zush!*

Rean didnʼt wait for an answer, appearing on the outside and taking flight. With his cultivation and speed, he disappeared in the distance in just a few seconds. He wasnʼt afraid of being found since he would move away while using his Divine Sense and Light Bending Skill.

Of course, Rean could still see everything inside the Soul Gem Dimensional Realm. Also, once he decides he has gone far enough, Rean can enter it again, and his own exit will be set to the last place he stopped.

A few seconds later, a tiny aperture appeared near the Abyssal Soul while Sister Orb made sure that the shard wouldnʼt be able to move. As if by magic, the Abyssal Soul Shard seemed to reach and wiggle a little before its weird soul power spread out.

Sister Orb noticed that, and she talked to Roan and the others while preventing the shard from seeing or hearing her. [Roan, now I have an example of how the Main Soul connects to the Shard. I can stop it any time you want. Also, donʼt let it fool you just because it isnʼt saying anything. The Main Soul is already connected to the shard and is watching our group.]

The shard kept silent, but Sister Orb could tell it was trying to leave through the passage she had created. Of course, it couldnʼt move at all, so it gave the impression of being inanimate.

Roan snorted, his Dark Element coming out of his hand, sipping into the shard. ”Since it is asleep, I will try to corrode it from the outside and see if I can extract something. Letʼs just hope this shard doesnʼt get destroyed in the process.”

Rifindio, Foliana, Zangeshu, and Kentucky felt like laughing right there. Even Rean showed a smile while he watched during his flight. Sister Orb just said the Main Soul is connected and is seeing everything. Yet, because it wasnʼt saying anything, Roan decided to play his own game to see who would relent first.

*Tssssss...*

Roan used the purest form of Yin and Dark Element, and even that Abyssal Soul Shard couldnʼt resist it. Slowly but certainly, the Soul Power around it began to be destroyed.

*Arrrgghhhh!!!*

Finally, the Main Soul couldnʼt take it anymore. It controlled a little of its Soul Power, managing to create some sound to speak. ”Stop! Stop! You are going to destroy it, you fucking shit!”

Roan didnʼt stop, though. Instead, he increased the amount of Dark Element and Yin Energy, pushing forward the destruction of the shard. ”I seem to be hearing some unpleasant things. Letʼs get rid of this before I get more annoyed.”

*Arrghh!*

The Abyssal Soul, connected to its shard, was having the ʼtime of its lifeʼ right there. ”ALRIGHT! ALRIGHT! Iʼm sorry. Please, stop! Donʼt destroy my shard!”

Finally, Roan waved his hand, dissipating his Dark Element and Yin energy. ”Thatʼs more like it.”

Roan didnʼt speak anymore after that. Instead, he looked at Rifindio. In the end, the one who wanted to know more about the Abyssal Soul was him. The twins didnʼt really have much interest in it. He could ask his own questions later.

Understanding the message, Rifindio stepped forward. ”So you are the Abyssal Soul, uh?”

The shard trembled a little, not expecting to hear that name coming from Rifindioʼs mouth. ”Where did you hear about me?”

Rifindio shook his head with no intention of answering. Well, he heard from the twins, but the twins didnʼt explain to him how they knew about it. Rifindio wouldnʼt be able to answer anyway. The system was still a secret to everyone there. ”Why should I answer you? The one who has questions is me, and you are in no position to refuse.”

The shard went silent for a moment and finally spoke again. ”Make it quick. What do you want in exchange to set this shard free?”

”That will depend on you,” Rifindio started. ”First of all, it seems like you have something to do with my Camazotz Bat race. You took control over Duere, and when you tried to take control over me, you even stole a huge part of the little bit of Camzotz Bloodline I had. What are you? Why us?”

The shard got slightly confused. Rifindio spoke of its race, but he now didnʼt seem to know much. ”Iʼm an Abyssal Beast... or at least I was. Only my soul remains after all these years. Knowing more about us wonʼt do you any good, and it might bring you more trouble instead.”

”I still want to know. You have no need to worry about what could happen to me,” Rifindio insisted.

”Very well,” the Abyssal Soul relented. ”Abyssal beasts are a race that can merge, eat, and control space like no other race in the Great Void. At least no other race Iʼm aware of. There you go. Does this suffice your curiosity?”

Sure enough, those words took everyone by surprise.
