The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2838: Chapter 2838: Taking Office (2)

Gu Qingheng reached out to catch his wife, then nodded to Qi Jingyun before holding his wife’s hand and walking back.

Qi Jingyun watched the two people walk away together, smiled, then turned to head back into the palace.

Yun Bai, who was following behind, twitched his lips. Just now Yang Ruxin mentioned introducing a village girl to his lord, how did it end up being so amusing?

The next day at the court, Emperor Xuanjing announced that the Crown Prince would be overseeing the government, which actually indicated a willingness to delegate power.

Yang Ruxin and Gu Qingheng then returned to their home and started preparing for the New Year.

At this time, Erni experienced pregnancy symptoms, upon checking, she was already two and a half months along, signifying that Gu Yao was going to be a father.

Another piece of delightful news was that Chun Gui was pregnant.

This news was particularly exciting because Chun Gui had suffered severe trauma after being captured by the Yuan army years ago. When Qian Er fell for Chun Gui, she initially refused him, knowing she might not conceive, but Qian Er didn’t mind, saying they could adopt if necessary, which moved Chun Gui.

Now, two and a half years into their marriage, she was finally pregnant.

The happiest one wasn’t Qian Er, but Qian’s father, who was overjoyed to tears at the prospect of having a grandson.

Additionally, Yang Rulin’s wife, Dong Wufu, was also three months pregnant.

Many other wives who married recently also received happy news.

Overall, the village was suffused with a joyful atmosphere everywhere.

As the lively celebrations of the first month concluded, Luo Da’s health declined.

When Yang Ruxin visited him, he was still very pleased, having seen his daughter married and with a child, and his son and nephew had all passed the scholar examination. He felt he had gained much in recent years and could leave without regrets.

Luo Er was initially alright, but surprisingly, he fell ill half a month after Luo Da passed. His only regret was his son hadn’t married, and he instructed him to bring his future wife to his grave, then left with a smile.

Once the funeral here was concluded, news arrived from Beijing that the Emperor had surprisingly decreed to abdicate to the Crown Prince, making himself the Retired Emperor.

Qi Jingchen ascended the throne, changing the year to Peace, which was originally the thirtieth year of Xuanhe. Starting March, it became the first year of Xuanping, with Qi Jingchen becoming Emperor Xuanwen.

Upon Emperor Xuanwen’s ascension, he followed tradition by first pardoning the world, reducing taxes, and continuing with the grace examination.

There was grace examination for two consecutive years, which was a tremendous gift for scholars. Those who didn’t pass last year could try again; those who didn’t dare to compete last year, after a year of study, could also attempt it.

As for the taxes, though not fully waived, they were reduced by twenty percent for three years, which was very good news for the common people.

What surprised Yang Ruxin was that upon Emperor Xuanwen’s ascension, he began widely recruiting virtuous ministers, personally sending trusted people to the Shu Region to invite Grandpa Shu out, replacing the aged Academician Lu Ding of Wenhua Pavilion, directly entering the Cabinet.

”It’s really tough for Grandpa.” Yang Ruxin sighed while playing with three beans in the sand, thinking that if Grandpa hadn’t come out of retirement, Gu Qingheng certainly wouldn’t have relinquished his military power to enjoy leisure.

”And my big uncle.”

”Ah?” Yang Ruxin looked up, ”Big uncle is out of retirement too?”

”Yes.” Gu Qingheng laughed, ”Imperial College’s Sacrifice Wine.”
