The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 2823: Chapter 2823: Triple Jump (Part 3)

Hao Jian actually really wanted to ask, where did all that grain and vegetables go? Others might not know, but he truly had a sense of it, roughly estimated to be tens of thousands of stones of grain. Each time they were sent to the warehouse, but no one seemed to have taken them, yet the next time he went, the warehouse was guaranteed to be empty.

But after glancing at Yang Ruxin, he still didn’t ask, after all, some things weren’t for him to inquire about.

Yang Ruxin was quite pleased with Hao Jian’s discernment, not asking what shouldn’t be asked, not being curious about what shouldn’t be curious about, which was why she was willing to continue using him for tasks.

In mid-September, Emperor Xuanjing grandly appointed Duke Wei, Wei Yan, as the Great General to quell the rebellion, leading a 200,000-strong army to Hanzhong, with the Prince Qi Jingyun as the vanguard advancing first to Hanzhong.

With the recommendation of King Han, Qi Jingrong became the grain escort officer.

War is essentially a matter of money.

And while gathering military funds and preparing provisions, many issues were discovered, all involving Minister of Revenue Shen Wanxing, who, after so many years in the position, had embezzled an astonishing amount of silver.

Pulling one thread led to another, unearthing the Shen family’s rise to power, which had cost many lives due to their land grabs.

Emperor Xuanjing, in his wrath, directly appointed the Crown Prince to personally investigate this matter.

The Crown Prince took swift and decisive action, thoroughly investigating all matters concerning the Shen Family shortly after the army set out, which also implicated several officials, the most serious being Linjiang Prefecture’s Magistrate Li Tongzhi.

Embezzlement, bribery, forcibly taking women, amassing wealth through land grabs, wanton killing!

There was even evidence of Li Tongzhi raising private soldiers.

Any one of these warranted execution.

Emperor Xuanjing was already furious about King Han’s rebellion, so upon seeing the incontrovertible evidence, he angrily smashed the inkstone on the imperial desk to pieces, ordering strict punishment.

Li Tongzhi was executed on the spot! His entire family was annihilated!

The court officials were astute; at first, they might not have thought much of it, but with Li Tongzhi’s death, they all began to wonder why so many incidents emerged at such a critical juncture. It could only be believed by their grandchildren who were still nursing that there was no deliberate orchestration.

And all these events inevitably made everyone think of Yang Ruxin!

But simultaneously, everyone had to admit that dealing with the Shen family at this time was indeed the best opportunity.

After all, Shen Wanxing had been running things for so many years and had always had the Emperor’s attention. At another time, someone pleading for mercy might have let it pass, but now, with King Han rebelling, which was the Emperor’s great irritation, anyone raising private soldiers was also conspiring a rebellion, right? So, whoever dared to plead was a co-conspirator.

This foretold that the Shen family would truly face eternal damnation from now on, and those who had been affiliated with them were now starting to keep a low profile.

Linjiang Prefecture couldn’t be without a Magistrate.

The Crown Prince directly submitted a recommendation, citing that County Magistrate Fang Dehua of Baihua County had been doing well.

Emperor Xuanjing then swiftly approved the decision to let him be the Magistrate.

Thus, Fang Dehua suddenly transitioned from a seventh-rank County Magistrate to a fourth-rank Prefectural Magistrate, packed up his belongings, and with his family in tow, headed towards the Prefectural City, completing a leap in rank.

As for Baihua County, someone from the reserve of officials could be assigned there, since Madam Ruyi was guarding the place. As long as they’re not brainless, they won’t act recklessly.
