The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1922: Chapter 1922: Unspeakable Troubles (5)

”Your Majesty...” Wang Minxue hurriedly spoke, cold sweat breaking out.

Emperor Xuanjing had not spoken all along, and his expression had not changed, but now he looked toward Wang Minxue.

Wang Minxue wanted to declare his innocence, but he couldn’t speak out, because he never expected the other side to know, and he hadn’t made any arrangements. Now that the mistress had truly been caught, any defense he made would become a joke, so he could only glance at Gu Sheng and then kneel down: ”Your Majesty, this humble minister is also helpless. Among the three great unfilial acts, not having descendants is the greatest. This humble minister has only two daughters and no sons. Yet, the wife at home is exceedingly fierce, not allowing concubinage, and my mother has fallen ill over the matter of having grandchildren. This humble minister is truly powerless...” Saying this, he even shed tears.

Yang Ruxin was astonished, glancing at the expressions of those around and knowing that this old man was formidable. With just a few words, he had turned the unfavorable situation around—after all, this was ancient times, and having no sons was the end of one’s family line. So, it seemed understandable that he had no choice but to keep a mistress because of a fierce wife.

After all, this was a feudal society, a patriarchal society.

However, it didn’t matter. Anyway, she hadn’t planned to bring him down with just a few words.

Gu Sheng, however, stood there gritting his teeth. Although he was very angry, he couldn’t just speak up recklessly. He had really underestimated this peasant woman before.

The Emperor also sighed, ”It’s been hard on Minister Wang. Since Minister Wang has difficulties that cannot be voiced, we will not pursue the matter. However, keeping a mistress is ultimately inappropriate. Therefore... We will give you three days, no, five days to resolve this issue, either by taking a concubine or some other manner, handle it properly. Otherwise, it would be deceiving the Emperor.”

”Thank you for your grace, Your Majesty.” Wang Minxue finally breathed a sigh of relief, hurriedly kowtowed, then rose and returned to his position, standing silently with his eyes lowered.

As for the others... With Wang Minxue’s lesson in mind, it’s better not to stick their necks out. If the other side happened to know some private affair of theirs at the moment, that would be troublesome.

No one in the opposing faction spoke up again, and therefore, there was no more opposition.

The Emperor then coughed, ”So, does everyone have no objections?”

”Madam Ruyi is well-deserving of public support.” Hen Bingwen, who rarely spoke in the Imperial Court, stepped forward now, ”Her medical skills are excellent, and she is benevolent and kind-hearted, so it is appropriate for her to receive such a title. After all, not everyone can be taken as a disciple by Dao Xuzi, and not everyone can bravely enter a city surrounded by enemy troops to save lives despite the danger...”

”Elders, what are your opinions?” Emperor Xuanjing nodded and then looked at the leading few elders.

”Hen Yizheng is right; Madam Ruyi is well-deserving of this recognition,” Hun Shaojun, as the leader of the seven elders, was the first to express support.

The following elders naturally echoed this sentiment. Even those who were not entirely pleased inwardly did not say anything at this point.

”Since this is the case, then Yang Ruxin, your title of Madam Ruyi is well-deserved now,” Emperor Xuanjing smiled, ”Do you know why it’s Madam Ruyi? We hope that with your presence, everything will be as you desire...”

”Thank you for your grace, Your Majesty.” Yang Ruxin kowtowed again, though she inwardly rolled her eyes, thinking to herself if they considered her a good luck charm. Truly overwhelming.

Subsequently, the Emperor also bestowed a pair of jade Ruyi to her, which perfectly matched her title.
