The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1541: Chapter 1541: Zuo County (5)

Yang Ruxin could not help but sigh. The girl was quite stubborn indeed. However, she really did not want to get too close to her anymore. Consequently, she rolled her eyes, ”Miss Li, where is your pride?”

Li Mingyin’s face turned red instantly, full of embarrassment, yet she still bit her lip, ”Yang Ruxin, there’s no need for you to humiliate me. I know what I did before was wrong, but I didn’t go too far. I truly admire Lord Gu, and that’s why I wanted to compete. Although I’ve been at odds with you, I’ve never done anything malicious...”

A flash of light sparked in Yang Ruxin’s eyes; of course, she knew the girl wasn’t truly bad. Otherwise, why would she bother bantering with her?

”All I wanted was to be friends with you,” Li Mingyin’s eyes reddened, ”But I realize now that I was presumptuous.” After taking a deep breath, she said, ”Goodbye,” then turned around, leaped onto her mount, and sped away.

Yang Ruxin’s eyebrows knitted deeply. What was this girl up to now?

However, if she’s gone, then let it be. Ruxin was not so saintly as to befriend a woman who had designs on her man, even if she knew the woman had no ill intentions.

”Miss?” Du Man couldn’t help but call out.

”Let’s go.” Yang Ruxin smiled and then left the person behind in her thoughts.

Next was to continue the journey. They had rushed on the way here, but the return trip in the carriage would be slow, estimating it would take at least a fortnight to return.

It was already past July, and her birthday was on the 20th. Whether she could rush back in time was still a question.

In ancient times, a girl’s fifteenth birthday was extremely important, her coming-of-age. Once fifteen, a girl was considered an adult and was eligible to marry and become a mother.

Although Yang Ruxin was indifferent, she knew her mother and grandfather must be anxious. Therefore, under the circumstances that the other girls could bear it, she picked up the pace.

Four days later, they arrived at the border of Bingzhou. Passing through Bingzhou, they would reach Jizhou, then Changhuai State.

”We’ve been rushing for so many days. Let’s rest in the county town ahead tonight,” Yang Ruxin suggested, seeing the pale faces of the girls, and decided it was time to rest.

This county town is called Zuo County, and the next town is more than a hundred li away. So, even though the sun was still high in the sky, it was time to stop.

Originally, it had seemed a rather remote county town, but to their surprise, as soon as they entered through the town gate, it was bustling with people back and forth, unexpectedly lively.

”This Zuo County is a famous place for jade,” Gao Dazhuang couldn’t help but interject as the carriage slowly rolled on. Yang Ruxin had already got off the carriage to walk.

”Have you been here before?” Yang Ruxin was somewhat surprised.

”Our Gao Family has been Jade Carving Masters for generations, but...” Gao Dazhuang sighed before changing the subject, ”My great-grandfather had a little fame in the jade carving world. My father learned the craft from him. Thanks to it, we lived comfortably. However, it was also because of it that led to the downfall of the Gao Family...”

”Zuo County is next to East Mountain, which produces jade and is the largest jade mine in the northern part of the Great Xuan Dynasty...” Seeing that Yang Ruxin did not press further, Gao Dazhuang shifted the topic again, ”But the largest jade mine here is controlled by the Imperial Court; nevertheless, there are also smaller mines around, owned by powerful families...”
