The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1230: Chapter 1230: Wedding Dress (2)

In ancient times, wealthy families generally began preparing their daughters’ dowries from the moment they were born. This included furniture, bedding, jewelry, clothing, and so on. Naturally, this also encompassed the bride’s wedding dress and veil, which had to be hand-embroidered by themselves. Some wedding dresses could take years to complete.

I remember watching a TV program in my past life that introduced the ancient Thousand Skills Bed, which also took years to make.

However, in the countryside, poor families didn’t have such troubles. They only started preparing the dowry after the betrothal. The rich gave more, while those without money sometimes had no dowry at all. Regardless, the wedding dress still had to be personally prepared by the bride’s side, and even the simplest ones took months to embroider. For example, Liang Xiaoyu began working on her wedding dress after she got engaged to Yang Xiaoliu, and now it was only half done.

Yang Ruxin had not expected to be in such a hurry to marry Gu Qingheng, especially since she was still young. However, the prospect of an impending war forced her to make such a decision. Since she had already set her heart on this man, she did not want him to leave with regrets.

Marriage was a matter between two people. She did not care about formalities and had no time to prepare a wedding dress. Therefore, she planned to buy two ready-made wedding dresses from the Wei Family’s Longfeng Embroidery Village; their dresses were very well made, at least in her eyes, they were extremely exquisite.

However, Gu Qingheng stopped her and said there was no need for her to worry.

On the eighth day, someone delivered two camphor wood chests.

”How beautiful the wedding dress is,” Erni exclaimed, mouth agape as she looked at the opened chest.

”And this crown, oh my... such fine gold threads...” Sanni was so surprised that she was rendered speechless, her hand covering her mouth.

The rest were also speechless with amazement as they looked at the eye-catching wedding dress inside the chest.

”My goodness, is this the legendary Phoenix Crown and Xia Pei?” Yu Qingge, who had come early to accompany Yang Ruxin, exclaimed in shock.

”Don’t talk nonsense if you don’t understand,” Fang Tianze glared at Yu Qingge. ”The Phoenix Crown and Xia Pei are not something that just anyone can wear... The crown should have a luan bird on it.”

”You act as though you know so much,” Yu Qingge retorted with a roll of her eyes at Fang Tianze.

”Young Master Fang is correct,” the Feng Family said with a smile. ”Only the Empress and the Empress Dowager wear the Phoenix Crown... Indeed, the crown here has a luan bird.”

”The luan bird is a bluebird, a legendary three-legged divine bird similar to the phoenix,” Yang Ruxin added.

Yu Qingge puffed her cheeks, thinking about the intricacies involved. But in her memory, mentioning Chinese bridal attire was all about the Phoenix Crown and Xia Pei.

Yang Ruxin knew what Yu Qingge was thinking and patted her shoulder. She had thought the same in the past, but it was Gu Qingheng who told her that only the Empress, Empress Dowager, Crown Princess Consort, and princess consorts were entitled to wear the Phoenix Crown. Furthermore, the number of plumage on the Phoenix Crown was specific and not something that could be worn on just anyone’s head. The same goes for dragons: the Emperor had the Nine-clawed Golden Dragon, while the Crown Prince had the Seven-clawed Golden Dragon. Other princes and kings had different versions, and dragon motifs were not for just anyone to use.

”Also, these things can be discussed at home, but you can’t go around casually talking about wearing a Phoenix Crown or such outside. That would be a grave crime of treason,” Fang Tianze warned Yu Qingge with softened tones.

”Understood,” Yu Qingge grumbled, pouting. ”Nag.”
