The Fierce Farm Girl Has A Secret Space

Chapter 1209: Chapter 1209: All Entrusted to You

”Whether in haste or not, aren’t we just living life?” Yang Ruxin’s mood was extremely good, and from now on, her dear sister was also someone with a family, ”Moreover, we might need to go out for a while. With a marriage certificate, we are legally wed and can even share a room at the inn, which saves money, right?”

Everyone was instantly speechless.

Yu Qingge was even more admiring as she gave a thumbs up to her; Sister such a cool person, she simply couldn’t copy her. Well, might as well just admire her.

”Mother, godfather, godmother, rest assured, Xinxin trusts me so much, I will not let her down.” Gu Qingheng quickly expressed his stance, ”Nor will I allow her to be wronged...”

”I believe you,” Dong Wenxiu nodded. It’s not like she had a choice, she couldn’t appear unwilling, could she? That would offend her son-in-law, wouldn’t it? Things had changed; Dong Wenxiu was no longer the old Xun Hui, her mind had become more flexible.

However, Gu Qingheng then folded his copy of the marriage certificate several times before handing it over to Yang Ruxin: ”Keep this safe for me.”

Everyone once again showed surprised expressions.

Actually, marriage certificates had been popular since the Tang Dynasty. By the time of the Great Xuan Dynasty, though, they had been simplified a lot. In wealthy families, marriage certificates were very elaborate, not only containing the names and birth details of the couple but also recording the six traditional wedding rites, followed by lists of the engagement gifts and dowries. However, in rural areas, it was much simpler, often just involving a few pieces of silver, really not worth the paperwork.

However, marriage certificates still had to be registered with the Governor’s Office, usually managed by the village head or the Lizheng.

The marriage certificate was a constraint on both parties.

But now, Gu Qingheng had handed over the marriage certificate to Yang Ruxin. Thus, if Yang Ruxin wanted to go back on her word, Gu Qingheng would have no way to do anything about it; he wouldn’t even have the marriage certificate to restrict her actions.

To put it bluntly, if Yang Ruxin wanted to cheat, Gu Qingheng would have no grounds to blame her.

On the other hand, Yang Ruxin could tightly control the other party using the marriage certificate.

”Sure?” Yang Ruxin slightly raised her eyebrows.

”I’ve said that I will always trust and love you,” Gu Qingheng said with determination in his eyes, ”so, I give you all the power to decide.”

”Fine.” Yang Ruxin unapologetically took the marriage certificate, then stuffed it into her backpack. In her view, as long as two people truly loved each other and wanted to live together, this item was just a decoration. Those who wanted to go back on their word or misbehave—ten marriage certificates wouldn’t help.

Everyone seemed to realize that these two were not the type to play by the rules.

”How about getting Xuexue and myself a marriage certificate too...” At that moment, Gu Yao stepped forward, his face flushed, but his tone was firm, ”After all... we’re going to get engaged next month...”

Erni’s face turned bright red.

”I think it’s a good idea...” Yang Ruxin was the first to nod, ”Although Xuexue is still young, as long as they don’t consummate the marriage... Having a marriage certificate makes it even more foolproof, and it keeps any trouble at bay, doesn’t it?” she added, winking at Erni.

Erni’s face turned even redder.

”This...” The most flustered one had to be Dong Wenxiu; why were her daughters in such a rush?

The others, however, were calm. Eventually, Dong Wenxiu didn’t refuse. She couldn’t afford to offend her eldest son-in-law, and likewise, she couldn’t afford to offend the second son-in-law either.
