Chapter 558: Chapter 558 Revived

How to live for oneself?

Ah Lang couldn’t figure out this question.

But it didn’t matter; he didn’t want to think about it.

Ah Lang didn’t speak; he lay there like an ice cold corpse.

The wolves whimpered softly beside him, but his heart was as still as dead water, devoid of any life force.

Lin Dong sighed and brought him back to the camping ground.

”Lin Dong, he doesn’t want to live anymore, why are you still saving him?” Li Yanran also became agitated, and couldn’t help but ask.

Lin Dong said, ”He has never met a kind person in his life. If he just dies like this, he’ll feel the world is even duller than the jungle, and that people’s hearts are colder than those of wolves.”

”But this world isn’t like that...”

Li Yanran was slightly startled; looking at Lin Dong before her, she felt as if there was a light about him.

Facing the light, who doesn’t want to chase it? Who doesn’t want to draw near? Who doesn’t want to become light themselves?

”But, you can save his body, can you save his heart?” Li Yanran said.

Lin Dong shook his head, ”I don’t know. Not long after I became a healer, I asked my master what the hardest sickness in the world to cure was.”

”My master said, the most difficult illness in the world isn’t cancer, nor is it various complex diseases, but the human heart.”

”The human heart is the hardest to cure, because it’s too complex, too complex...”

”Because of the human heart, there have been wars, oppression, class systems, all sorts of man-made disasters... in the long river of history, those who have died from this kind of ’sickness’ are the most numerous!”

Li Yanran nodded, somewhat agreeing.

At the moment, Lin Dong looked again at Ah Lang, lying on the ground, as lifeless as a walking corpse.

Before he entered the world, he was somewhat confused by what his master had said.

But since entering the world, he had come to understand that principle more and more.

It seems my master was indeed right, the hardest thing to cure in this world really is the human heart.

Right now, he was at a loss with Ah Lang.

Another day passed, and Ah Lang neither ate nor drank, lying there no different from a corpse.

Lin Dong went over to give him the usual acupuncture, maintaining his life force.

He didn’t refuse, didn’t resist, and had no reaction at all.

Seeing him like this, Lin Dong felt a burning anger in his heart.

He grabbed Ah Lang and shouted loudly, ”Can you wake up?”

”I am awake now,” Ah Lang said.

”I mean, live like a person!” Lin Dong shouted, ”It seems Chen Qingqing was right, you really are a dog!”

Upon hearing this, Ah Lang’s eyes suddenly turned red.

He clenched his fists, grinding his teeth, ”I... I’m not...”

”Not? If you’re not a dog, then why would you worship a woman who treats you like a dog, as a god?”

”If you’re not a dog, then why is there not a trace of human life force in you now?”

”I... I’m not...” roared Ah Lang, as scenes from the past flashed through his mind.

”Doggy slave,” Chen Qingqing’s constant utterance, her indifference toward him just a few days ago, and the expressionless face she wore when she ordered her followers to break his legs earlier.

He felt as though his chest was about to explode.

”Do you know, the woman you worship as a goddess is just a dog to others!”

”Do you know how lowly Chen Qingqing is in front of Lin Tiance, whom she adores?”

”You worship another’s bitch as a goddess. You’re worse than a dog...”

”Ah... stop talking!!” Ah Lang couldn’t bear it any longer, roaring as he threw a punch at Lin Dong.

However, his tendons had been severed, and he could not muster his inner Qi; the punch landed on Lin Dong, weak as a child’s tickling.

Seeing this, Lin Dong breathed a sigh of relief.

He knew his method might be working.

But it wasn’t enough yet.

Lin Dong knocked him away with a palm.

”If you’re not a dog, not trash. Then, prove it!” Lin Dong shouted loudly.

”Ah...” Ah Lang got up from the ground and went toward Lin Dong.

He had to prove himself!

He wasn’t... not a dog, and he certainly wasn’t trash!!

He wasn’t any doggy slave either!!

Again and again, he got up, but immediately, Lin Dong knocked him down.

He got up once more, even though his fists had no strength, he still persisted.

Just like when he created the Sword Drawing Technique, he drew his sword over and over, a total of one billion, ninety-six million, five hundred and thirty-seven thousand, two hundred and eleven times.

Only, this time it was different.

Previously, he drew his sword for Chen Qingqing.

But this time, he was doing it for himself!!

”I know now, what it means to live for oneself,” Ah Lang suddenly stopped getting up.

His chest, once turbulent with raging waves, calmed down to an undisturbed ancient pond.

But this time, his heart was alive.

”But my tendons are severed, my legs have been broken. How can I take up the sword again, to live for myself?”

He sighed.

He understood how to live for himself.

But now, he had lost the ability to wield a sword.

”Do not lose heart; I can heal you! Let you take up your sword again!!”

Lin Dong’s words revived Ah Lang completely.

(These past two days have been rough, can only update this much)
