Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 383: Runes Originating from [Transcendent Knowledge]

Only after Teacher Ji Niang spoke those words did I finally have the qualification to touch this portion of [Transcendent Knowledge].

It seemed simple to ”get the material yourself,” but it depended on what you were getting.

This was a Transcendent-level object.

When Teacher Ji Niang learned that I had spontaneously developed a ”mosaic-like” self-shielding mechanism for this object, she actively used the Earth Vein System to apply a protective mosaic filter for me, to prevent an accidental massive flood of information from causing me unknown harm.

I operated the Earth Vein System, turning off the system’s mosaic follow, but when I looked at this portion of [Transcendent Knowledge], I still couldn’t see it clearly.

Even though I was very close to it, it was blurry, as if my eyes subconsciously couldn’t focus.

I slowly closed my eyes, using the complete mastery over my body from Body Cultivation and the control over Five Senses Enhancement...

When I opened my eyes again, I didn’t know if the visual control of my body was effective on Spirit Vision, but at this moment, I was certain that if I believed it was effective, this belief could more effectively help me control the area that was subjectively untouchable to me.

That is, Spirit Vision.

At this moment, I could already feel the mosaic in front of me becoming finer, and the blurry image seemed to be sharpening.

This change was like the veil of reality being slowly lifted, making my spirit intensely excited.

It was as if a voice echoed in my ear, saying, ”Almost there! I’m about to see it!”

Even everything in my eyes seemed to be reassembling.

My vision was ”making up the data,” constructing a scene I had never witnessed, until a corner of the truth was slowly unveiled.

What I saw... was reality.

Reality already existed before my foresight, and yet I foresaw it before it was revealed.

This wonderful state, which was impossible to describe in words, left an indelible joy in my heart.

This was the first time I so clearly felt what the ”Foresight” level of Spirit Vision was!

”Little Han, Little Han! What’s wrong? Are you okay!”

At this moment, a hurried shout sounded in my ear, accompanied by the vibration and sound of my cheek being slapped...

”Mhm... mhm... Eh?”

At this moment, I felt as if I was waking up from a deep dream.

Looking at Teacher Ji Niang’s panicked expression, I quickly realized what I had done.

”Sorry, I was too absorbed in watching...”

I shook my head, indicating I was fine, but recalling what I saw... I wasn’t sure.

I was supposed to have seen something, but it wasn’t the [Transcendent Knowledge] itself, but myself.

”You scared me to death! I thought something happened to you. Stop looking at that thing.”

Teacher Ji Niang said, pulling the Earth Vein System control panel closer, preparing to reapply the mosaic filter.

”Wait! Hold on!”

I stopped Teacher Ji Niang’s action.

”What is it?”

”I wasn’t in trouble just now. I was just... how should I put it? I seemed to have a deeper mastery of Spirit Vision. Foresight... Yes, it must be Foresight!”

I recalled the time I saw the classification of Spirit Vision levels.

”Foresight” was the first level of Spirit Vision.

In the past, I didn’t know what Foresight-level Spirit Vision was.

I had only heard descriptions that seeing the world’s reality unintentionally happened when one couldn’t fully control their Spirit Vision, not as an intermittent characteristic of Foresight-level Spirit Vision.

To fully master the Foresight level of Spirit Vision was the first step into Transcendent status—using Foresight to see the True World at the Transcendent level that I previously couldn’t.

This was the true step into the Transcendent World.

Only by seeing could one pursue it.

So... just now, I must have completely mastered the first level of Spirit Vision.

The Floating World level was the current upper limit of my Spirit Vision, and now... ”Foresight” was the lower limit I could control.

If I continued to think this way, could I gradually begin to touch the subsequent levels of ”Imaging,” ”Unknown,” and the threshold-like ”Madness Threshold?”

My previous Floating World-level Spirit Vision had no mechanism to support it, leading to various uncontrolled situations.

So, the me of now was essentially using my Foresight-level ability to govern the Floating World level.

Although it was still far from enough, it was a completely different concept from my previous self.

”Foresight?”

Clearly, Ji Niang didn’t understand what I was trying to express at the moment.

”Mhm. Can I try it again?”

”Alright. If anything goes wrong, I will forcibly interrupt your actions immediately,” Ji Niang said sternly.

”Mhm, I won’t gamble with my life.”

I said casually, then turned and walked toward the portion of [Transcendent Knowledge].

I subconsciously rubbed my face, as if casually wiping away that layer of mosaic.

The true form of the [Transcendent Knowledge] was presented to my eyes at this moment.

With just a glance, a piercing sensation came from my head.

That was the stimulation caused by Spirit Vision receiving too much information, similar to the first time I encountered a Magic Power Source.

This required adaptation.

All of this was within my tolerance range, but... this state had a time limit.

I estimated the time and looked at the true form of [Transcendent Knowledge].

It was an illusory ”Rune,” a rune I couldn’t describe.

And the constituent units that made up this Compound Rune... there wasn’t enough time.

I only managed to see one Compound Rune in its deeper structure, engraving it deeply into my mind...

”That’s enough. You’ve reached your limit.”

At this moment, Ji Niang’s voice came through, and a force on my shoulder pulled me away.

”Thank you...”

In that final moment, I didn’t resist.

Just as Teacher Ji Niang said, I had reached my limit.

But I also succeeded.

”Still saying thank you? Are you completely ignoring what I just said?”

I sat down on a chair Teacher Ji Niang pulled over.

I looked at Teacher Ji Niang, feeling a little apologetic, because I was indeed relying on Teacher Ji Niang to support me, so I had been a bit reckless.

But I knew that no matter how reckless I was, at most I would faint, not have my consciousness scattered by the information overload.

That was my confidence.

”For the rest of the research, you are not allowed to touch the [Transcendent Knowledge] entity again,” Teacher Ji Niang ordered me sternly.

”Eh? But... I succeeded, didn’t I...”

I closed my eyes and shook my head, trying to concentrate and also adapt to the side effects of overusing my Spirit Vision.

Then I stretched out my hand.

Mental power surged, and an illusory rune condensed and rose from my hand.

This was the rune structure that I had mentally transcribed in that extremely short period.

I was just unsure which part of the [Transcendent Knowledge] structure this belonged to.

”You!”

Ji Niang’s eyes flashed with shock when she saw the rune on my hand.

This was fundamentally different from the basic rune rituals she had transcribed earlier.

Although Ji Niang was very shocked by the rune I had just transcribed, she was still very angry about my impulsiveness!

”Little Han, I’m telling you seriously right now! I don’t need you to risk your life like this in the process of researching [Transcendent Knowledge]! I’m the one who brought you into Witch Academy! Your life is far more valuable than this thing! Do you understand?!”

Ji Niang was practically shouting at me, pointing at the [Transcendent Knowledge] she had previously regarded as a treasure.

”Un... understood...”

I shrunk my neck.

This was the first time I had seen Teacher Ji Niang so angry, and I was truly startled.

I didn’t even have any confidence in my voice.

”I was wrong. I won’t dare to do it next time...”

”There will be no next time.”

”But... everything has a first time, doesn’t it...”

”You...”

Teacher Ji Niang was practically angered into laughter by my retort.

”You should consider whether you can bear the cost before you attempt something!”

”I can... I have a certain degree of mastery over Spirit Vision now. I know very well that suffering this level of information impact will, at most, make me faint for a while. That’s not a big deal... I even have the Resurrection Spell to...”

”That’s enough! Little Han, you lack reverence for life right now. Do you understand what that means! Lacking reverence for life will ultimately lead to self-destruction. Not even the Resurrection Spell can save you!”

”Ugh... I’m sorry...”

”You’re sorry to yourself! Sigh...”

At this moment, Ji Niang was so stressed she didn’t know what to say, but after the outburst, she calmed down.

”You’re done for today. Go back now.”

”Eh? But I just transcribed that rune... That rune is clearly...”

”Go... back... and... rest!”

Teacher Ji Niang said to me slowly and firmly, word by word.

”Yes, yes... I... I’ll go back now.”

Seeing Teacher Ji Niang speak like that, I didn’t dare to challenge her patience anymore.

However... it seemed Teacher Ji Niang realized that she was simply overreacting out of concern.

I was indeed mostly fine, or she wouldn’t have let me go back to rest by myself.

Under Teacher Ji Niang’s combination of cajoling and driving me out, I finally left the area.

Being kicked out so suddenly in the middle of the afternoon left me unsure of what to do.

During Big Sis Bai’s absence, I truly put all my energy into cultivation and [Transcendent Knowledge].

I had to admit, this was to distract myself.

Now that I had relaxed, I didn’t know what else to do.

Should I go play?

Or should I go rest and sleep?

My actions just now were quite reckless, and the side effects of Spirit Vision were only just starting to kick in.

My head hurt badly.

”Ugh... which landmark did I teleport to just now?”

Walking on the street, I felt my head was a bit dull and didn’t even realize where I had arrived.

After walking a few steps, I saw a familiar place.

The Witch Cat Cafe.

”Ugh... since I’m already here...”

I immediately felt my hands itching to pet the cats.

I should go in and see the Fool’s Dreams.

I walked into the Witch Cat Cafe and instinctively chose a seat by the window.

”Customer... please... Eh? It’s Little Han Sis!”

As soon as I sat down, a nimble figure suddenly darted up to me.

”Hm?”

I looked at the little darling in front of me.

She could barely reach the table with her hands raised.

She was wearing the specially customized Witch Cat Cafe uniform, holding a small notepad for ordering.

”Mhm I’ll have a cup of hand-ground coffee, please.”

I said.

As I spoke, I also reached out and stroked the little Fool’s Dream’s head, teasingly playing with her cat ears.

”Alright Little Han Sis, I’ll bring it over right away!”

After she finished speaking, she left briskly.

Judging by her enthusiastic demeanor, they seemed to be doing very well here.

Sure enough, now that the initial hype for the Fool’s Dreams at the Witch Cat Cafe had passed, there weren’t as many people here today as when I first visited.

However, quite a few people still seemed to be here specifically for the Fool’s Dreams.

After the Fool’s Dream left, I scanned the area.

There were cat climbing frames and cat toys everywhere.

I picked up a small white cat that was elegantly walking past me and immediately held her in my arms.

As an experienced employee of the Witch Cat Cafe, she didn’t resist much after being held in my arms.

She just looked at me curiously, seemingly asking if I would give her cat treats.

”You’re such a little gluttonous cat.”

I petted her along her white fur, and she quickly started to purr comfortably.

As I pet the cat, the comforting sensation made all my stress and worries vanish at this moment.

Sure enough, cats have the power to heal the soul.

I lowered my head and reached out to touch the collar on the little white cat’s neck.

There was a metal tag engraved with text.

”Mhm... Bai Yun (White Cloud)? Is that your name?”

I asked gently.

Even though I knew the little cat couldn’t talk, I was still talking to myself like this.

Speaking of a cat named Bai Yun (White Cloud), I remembered there was a completely black cat here named Little Dark Cloud.

”By the way, are you and the cat named Little Dark Cloud a couple?”

”Meow Purr purr Meow.”

Bai Yun meowed at me, seemingly a bit displeased with my behavior, but after a few purrs, she stopped resisting.

It seemed this was another cat who had accepted the ’lying flat’ attitude at the Witch Cat Cafe.

Soon, my coffee was brought over, but it wasn’t delivered by the Fool’s Dream, but by a part-time senior student here.

She was very enthusiastic toward me and was deliberately trying to flirt, but I politely declined.

After all, I had surprised them when I took out the Gold Cat Card earlier, so they might have assumed I was the wealthy type.

However... I wasn’t in the mood to flirt with her.

Even in the Witch Cat Cafe, flirting with these cute cat girls was part of the service, but it required an extra tip.

After taking a sip of the coffee, the unique bitterness and richness spread in my mouth.

My slightly heavy head, along with my thoughts, was instantly invigorated.

”The afternoon is truly hard to get through... there’s nothing to do...”

But I knew very well that I simply had no one to do things with.

Why don’t I ask the people in the dorm what they’re doing?

I constantly felt that what I was doing was too detached from my peers, to the point where my lifestyle and topics of conversation felt completely incompatible with theirs.

”Our cognition is no longer on the same level. I don’t need to deliberately try to conform to them. Just let nature take its course.”

I took another sip of coffee, shook my head, and muttered to myself with a smile.

I seemed to have repeatedly pondered this problem many times, but I never found a good solution.

But thinking about it now... just let nature take its course.

Why go out of my way to conform?

Even if I don’t know how to interact with them, when I get back and see them, I will still greet them and chat casually, just as I normally would.

Half a cup of coffee was consumed as time passed.

The bitter coffee became slightly sour when it cooled, as if urging me to leave.

”It’s time to go back. Since I have nothing to do, I’ll go back and research that rune. After all, it’s a result I transcribed after being scolded by Teacher Ji Niang.”
