Is It Weird for a Guy to Apply to a Witch School?

Chapter 359: Potential Problems from Severing the Earth Vein Chains

”Citizens of Ninglan New City, I am honored to stand here and deliver my inauguration speech. First, I want to say that Ninglan New City’s ability to stand safely on these ruins today is inseparable from those who held ideals, fought for them, and even sacrificed their lives. Here, I would like to observe a moment of silence for the deceased. They are the martyrs who defended Ninglan New City and allowed it to continue, and they are worthy of being forever remembered by each and every one of us.”

As Ninglan Qiuyue’s resounding words spread across the largest square in Ninglan New City through the loudspeaker, the usually noisy square and streets became silent at this moment.

With the announcement and fermentation of the events of the past two days, the residents of Ninglan New City finally received their long-overdue explanation.

Faced with such a drastic change, the residents of Ninglan New City were indeed sweating for themselves.

At first, they simply thought that it was a violent coup caused by the arrival of those outsiders, but they did not expect that it was a matter of life and death for the entire city.

Especially since all of this had happened during the energy tide, and the beast tide it had caused had resulted in heavy casualties for both the city guard and the city defense army.

The city guard was not good at defending against the mutated beasts outside the city.

Being forcibly transferred there by that Nightmare Demon had brought considerable pressure on the coordinated operations with the city defense army.

But at the same time, if it weren’t for the emergency addition of the city guard, the front line of Ninglan New City might have been completely lost.

And during this period, there were also many flying mutated beasts that invaded the sky of Ninglan New City.

After all, the protection of the Earth Vein on Ninglan New City was only to counteract the energy tide, but it could not prevent those mutated beasts from entering from high altitudes.

In the past, the stability of the city was mostly maintained by the city guard and extraordinary killers who would call them out.

After all, most of the threats in the city came from the sky.

As long as they were discovered, they were living targets.

But with the departure of the city guard, the city also suffered considerable losses for this reason.

It was just that the residents of the city would not care about their danger.

They only cared that these things had not happened or rarely happened before, but now they were happening on a large scale.

You can’t just disregard our lives just because you want to seize power.

It could be said that Ninglan New City was in its most unstable period right now, but Ninglan Qiuyue still chose to give her inauguration speech today.

Because she had the strongest connection or backer in Ninglan New City, and that was the Witch Academy.

At that time, when the Academy Head took me to find her to return the Seed of Ninglan, which was the name of that extraordinary item, I only then discovered that the Witch Academy was actually planning to include Ninglan Qiuyue in the Witch Academy!

But on second thought, it was also true.

Ninglan Qiuyue was a living Child of Destiny.

How could she be left here like this?

Naturally, the Witch Academy had to use its traditional skill and trick her back.

But Ninglan Qiuyue was the last remaining heir of the Ninglan New City Lord’s line.

If she was not the City Lord, no one else could be ”rightfully so.”

So that’s why there was this inauguration speech at this moment.

For the sake of Ninglan Qiuyue, this Child of Destiny, the Witch Academy had proposed many suggestions, including but not limited to moving the entire Ninglan New City to the main world, that is, the pure land where the Witch Academy was located.

To move such a large piece of land was an easy matter for the witches.

Or rather, most transcendent academies had such an ability, it was just that their methods were different.

But this was rejected.

Not only did most of the officials object, but even Ninglan Qiuyue did not want it to be so.

First of all, it was an unfamiliar environment.

Then there was the need for a break-in period to integrate into a new world.

And there were many other problems that could be thought of, and even unforeseen problems waiting for Ninglan New City.

And plus, Ninglan New City at this moment could not withstand such a big move.

After comprehensive consideration, it had to be abandoned.

But... Ninglan Qiuyue was not raised to be a City Lord.

She had not received any education related to being a City Lord since she was a child.

So Ninglan Qiuyue theoretically could not become a very good City Lord.

So she was tricked by the witch mentors of the Witch Academy into becoming a student of the Witch Academy.

It should be noted that the relationship between the Witch Academy and Ninglan New City was never an equal negotiation.

This point was completely settled after a Transcendent Witch single-handedly wiped out all the mutated beasts outside the city and intimidated the restless mutated beast herds from a super long distance.

Those officials had completely lost their temper.

This was a single-handed crushing!

And if there was even one such terrifying existence, and they really wanted to resist, they would have died countless times before they even had the thought.

The Witch Academy had preserved the integrity of Ninglan New City, and had not treated them as refugees and integrated them into the main world’s society.

That was already merciful enough.

So from this moment on, Ninglan New City essentially belonged to the Witch Academy.

As for why the Witch Academy would spend the price to establish a stable spatial channel with the Witch Academy here, this naturally affirmed the value of Ninglan New City’s existence.

And then there was the fact that those graduating seniors who were promoted to Transcendent Witches could come here to sever their Earth Vein chains, which would be more convenient.

As for whether this reason was true, I thought it was true.

As for whether there were any deeper reasons, that was not something I could know.

As the moment of silence passed, Ninglan Qiuyue’s voice was heard again.

I sat with Big Sis Bai in a relatively front row and listened quietly.

I have to say, Ninglan Qiuyue was quite talented in giving speeches.

Although this long speech of hers was from a script, that script was also written by herself, at most it was just slightly reworded.

”Big Sis Bai, after watching Ninglan Qiuyue’s inauguration speech, you should also go back. After all, you have been lying in the infirmary for a long time now.”

”My physique is strong, it’s okay. I still want to accompany you. After all, you still chose to stay here, didn’t you?”

”That’s because I still have a lot of things to do. These two days... I’ve been waiting for the Academy Head and the others to be busy. They haven’t even helped me sever the Earth Vein chains as promised. But it’s coming soon. The Academy Head contacted me and said that if I had watched the speech here, I should go and find her.”

”Then I also have things to do.”

”What things can Big Sis Bai have to do?”

I asked, leaning lazily against the back of the long bench.

”Of course, it’s to accompany you.”

”Huh? To suddenly say such a thing... doesn’t Big Sis Bai have anything of her own to do?”

I suddenly sat up straight, my hands resting on the seat of the long bench, and looked at Big Sis Bai.

After all, from a certain point of view, for Big Sis Bai to say that the thing she had to do was to accompany me, it was still a bit... ambiguous, maybe.

”Hehe... I guess not.”

”Is... that so?”

At this moment, my two fingers were like walking, closing the distance with Big Sis Bai’s hand, and finally gently placed on the back of Big Sis Bai’s hand.

”Hmm?”

Bai Yu naturally felt the small movement of my hand, but did not actively pull it away.

In the dream... this could be considered holding hands, right?

As time passed bit by bit, Ninglan Qiuyue’s speech also came to an end.

The rest of the work actually did not require Ninglan Qiuyue’s personal attention.

As soon as Ninglan Qiuyue finished her speech and got off the stage, she found us here.

”Teacher Little Han, Bai Yu... senior. We meet again.”

”Don’t call me Teacher Little Han anymore. Since you have already entered the Witch Academy and become a student of the same year as me, and you even call Big Sis Bai ’senior,’ it’s too inappropriate to call me ’teacher’,” I said with a smile and a wave of my hand.

”Alright... in any case, thank you for staying until now to watch my speech.”

”It was just out of curiosity. It’s also the first time I’ve seen a City Lord’s inauguration speech. I have to say, you’re really talented in this aspect.”

”Really? I was so nervous on stage just now that I was trembling. Fortunately, it went smoothly... at least it seems so now.”

”Is that so? I really couldn’t tell. But... actually, it’s really not necessary. Becoming a City Lord is not a big deal. This world is a huge grass-roots stage. What you need is not to become the perfect City Lord in your heart, but to play the role of a City Lord that others will believe in. There’s no need to put so much pressure on yourself.”

”So that’s how you see this world, a huge grass-roots stage... haha... a very fitting description.”

Just like the first time I met that Ninglan City Lord, he looked mature and steady, but was still an ordinary person who would make mistakes.

He was also a failed father who would misjudge his own child.

Everyone was like this.

What people could see was always the glamorous side that others showed, but no one saw the ordinary behind it.

This world was like this.

Whether you were or not was not the key.

Whether others believed it or not was the fundamental thing.

After a simple chat with Ninglan Qiuyue, we also said goodbye to her.

After all, for her to be able to take a little time out of her busy schedule to see us was enough to prove many things.

And I also had my own things to do, which was to see the Academy Head.

”Little Han, I’ll go with you, okay?”

”Yes,” I nodded and agreed.

”Next... what is Little Han going to do? Is it what you said, to sever the so-called Earth Vein chains?”

”More or less. And to reshape my body. The Academy Head said that I haven’t been promoted to a transcendent yet. If I want to completely sever the Earth Vein chains, it’s best not to use the Resurrection Spell to create a new body before that. It’s better to be more direct and reshape my body after severing the Earth Vein chains.”

Of course, the most important thing was that I was in the dream, and my soul was also in the dream.

I had no connection with reality at all.

So even if I used the Resurrection Spell, it would be meaningless to resurrect in the dream.

And my Magic Power Source and spellbooks were still carried on my Earth Vein chains, but they were kept by the Academy Head.

After severing the Earth Vein chains, I still had another problem to solve, and that was the problem of the Magic Power Source and the spellbooks.

Generally, graduating seniors were promoted to Transcendent Witches.

At that level, they could completely master the Magic Power Source and the spellbooks.

But I couldn’t.

I couldn’t do it without external force.

And there was another very crucial thing.

The academy’s system information was built on the main world’s Earth Vein.

When I severed the Earth Vein chains, my original student card’s information would also be... gone.

It didn’t matter for the graduating seniors, but it wouldn’t work for me!

I hadn’t even finished a year of school yet!

I didn’t want to graduate so early... but this was a small matter.

The most important things were still the spellbooks and the Magic Power Source.

This involved the reshaping of my body.

After the Academy Head’s popularization of science, I finally understood what was going on with the body cultivator power I had inexplicably possessed at that time.

That was a Self-Awakened Body Cultivator.

I also learned a little about Self-Awakened Body Cultivators from the Academy Head, and had a general understanding.

I didn’t expect that I had unintentionally completed such a feat.

But... that was all there was to it.

Maybe this was a normal heart.

I was still more concerned about the spellbooks and the Magic Power Source.

The spellbooks were actually very easy to solve.

After all, I had a spellbook named ”Spellbook Shelf Spellbook.”

So, in essence, even without the Earth Vein chains to carry the spellbooks, I could perfectly solve all the problems with this spellbook.

The remaining problem was how to master this Spellbook Shelf Spellbook.

The Academy Head had proposed two solutions for me.

One was not to use a spellbook, but to directly take advantage of the fact that Ninglan New City was not covered by the great weakening spell’s effect, and figure out the spell ritual of the Spellbook Shelf Spell.

I could cast this spell with my bare hands, which could bypass the shortcoming of not being able to master the spellbook.

But when I returned to the academy, I would still be covered by the great weakening spell’s effect.

After that, it would become very difficult for me to use the spellbook.

The other was to completely master a spellbook with the help of the Academy Head.

With the essence of my soul’s life, I could barely master a spellbook, but this would trouble the Academy Head.

As for how I would choose... I naturally wanted it all!

This time, I was also being thick-skinned for once.

I was going to trouble the Academy Head, and I also wanted to understand this spellbook.

After all, Teacher Ji Niang had used this to exchange a large amount of useless resources from me back then.

That was a considerable amount of supplies.

In the end, she even drew a big cake for me, saying that the derivative spell of this spellbook was particularly powerful.

If I could, I naturally wanted to try it.

As for the Magic Power Source... the Academy Head had told me a concept, and that was ”self-generating magic power.”

The earliest witches did not have such a thing as a Magic Power Source when they used magic power.

At that time, magic power was in a self-generating state within the body of a Transcendent Witch.

At that time, the various disasters caused by the magic power dissipating from the witch’s body were very terrifying.

So the earliest Transcendent Witches were also synonymous with disaster in the void.

It was not until the appearance of the concept of the Magic Power Source that this state of the witches was completely terminated.

But the ability of self-generating magic power was still a talent belonging to Transcendent Witches.

It was also one of the sources of magic power for the witches to create their own Magic Power Sources.

But this talent was a talent that belonged exclusively to ”transcendent” witches.

Those who were not yet Transcendent Witches, even reserve witches and prospective witches, could not do it.

But I was different.

I was a Self-Awakened Body Cultivator.

This kind of Self-Awakened Body Cultivator was not limited by death or body damage, because a Self-Awakened Body Cultivator could achieve perfect control over themselves.

So the Academy Head had a bold attempt, and it was a unique attempt, because there were too few Self-Awakened Body Cultivators.

But with my cooperation, the Academy Head wanted to try to see if it was possible to use the advantage of a Self-Awakened Body Cultivator, plus the soul essence in advance, and the witchification brought by the Magic Power Source, to complete a partial ”leap” of the witch’s constitution before reaching the level of a Transcendent Witch.

To put it in human terms, it was to let me master the inherent talent of ”self-generating magic power” that belonged exclusively to Transcendent Witches before I had reached the level of a Transcendent Witch.

This was undoubtedly crazy, but it was feasible.

Otherwise, what do you think the Academy Head had been busy with these few days?

Naturally, it was to make preliminary preparations for this attempt.

It could be said that this experiment in which I participated also moved the hearts of countless academic witches in the Witch Academy.

After all, for their curiosity about the unknown, they would absolutely not miss this excellent opportunity.
