Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 1435: Chapter 768: Approaching Storm

Time flew, and half a month passed.

The snow and ice were melting much faster now, and the rise of the water level was clearly visible.

Liang Yuan immediately gave the order to speed up the extraction of resources from the three islands of Yangshan, Meishan, and Lingyun Slope.

They had to move everything into the Mirage Snake Space before the ice and snow completely melted.

At the same time, the announcement from the R&D Department about collecting metal from the old world also had an unexpectedly good effect.

All the people on the Floating Islands under Yangshan’s sphere of influence started responding enthusiastically, joining in the salvage of underwater metal.

As long as they salvaged these metals, they could be sold to Yangshan in exchange for a large amount of Points.

You had to know, in the old world submerged beneath the ice sheet, metal objects were practically everywhere.

Whether it was street lamps or parts of residential buildings, abandoned cars and so on, all contained huge amounts of steel and other metals.

Even though the great flood had been going on for more than two years, these metals were not that easy to corrode away completely.

So for the Superpower Users, diving down to salvage these things was basically the same as picking up money.

For a while, the entire Yangshan faction was swept up in a craze for salvaging metal from the old world.

Various Mercenary Corps and underwater treasure-hunting teams were all recruiting in large numbers, and supplies like Water-Repelling Runes and diving equipment were selling out completely.

In this situation, Yangshan obtained a huge amount of scrap metal.

The entire munitions factory entered a non-stop, around-the-clock production mode.

Very soon, batch after batch of Sentry Robots, Yangshan-series spacecraft, mobile battlefield armored vehicles, and other equipment were rolling off the lines at high speed.

The whole of Yangshan had entered a period of rapid, explosive development!

And in this half month, Liang Yuan’s gene recombination progress once again improved, reaching 48.6%. This rate of increase exceeded his expectations.

“Looks like I should be able to break through 50% before the end of the month.”

“The Spiritual Power Gene Warning Device is working pretty well. I can’t slack off in the next half month.”

Thinking this, Liang Yuan kept cultivating diligently while also balancing his family life.

That day, after finishing his cultivation, Liang Yuan went back home.

He happened to see Lin Ya holding Liang Hong while picking vegetables.

It was just that Liang Hong kept crying and fussing, so she couldn’t focus on picking vegetables.

Seeing this, Liang Yuan couldn’t help frowning and hurried over. “What happened?”

Seeing Liang Yuan, Lin Ya said, “He was playing in his room just now and accidentally knocked over the tissue box on the table. It hit his head.”

Hearing this, Liang Yuan couldn’t help letting out a sigh of relief. “That’s fine then, I’ll hold him.”

Lin Ya gave a little “mm” and passed Liang Hong over to Liang Yuan.

Liang Yuan’s arm reached through from her arms as he took Liang Hong.

But because Lin Ya’s chest was too prominent, he inevitably brushed against it.

A blush immediately spread across Lin Ya’s face; she quickly let go and took a step back, putting some distance between them.

Ever since that ambiguous incident last time, whenever she and Liang Yuan were alone together, there was always a faint, indescribable awkwardness in the air.

The two of them were trying their best to avoid it, but that atmosphere would still appear out of nowhere.

It was fine when there were more people around, but once it was just the two of them, that feeling only grew stronger.

After that night when the noise woke Lin Ya up, Liang Yuan had gone to the R&D Department the next day to see if there were any noise-cancelling type Runes.

But Li Hanzhong reminded him that while sound-dampening Runes were useful, they weren’t recommended for use at home.

Liang Yuan hadn’t understood at the time, so Li Hanzhong reminded him how Leng Yuehua’s people had snuck into his home before.

Liang Yuan immediately realized it: if he put sound-dampening Runes at home, the house might be quiet, sure—

But if an enemy ever broke in, wouldn’t he also be unable to hear any sounds?

So he dropped the idea, and instead put some soundproofing foam and the like on the walls at home—better than nothing.

Breaking the awkwardness, Liang Yuan said, “I’ll take him to the living room. You keep busy.”

“Mm.”

Lin Ya nodded silently, her face still red.

In the living room, Liang Yuan started educating his son.

Whether the kid understood or not, he gave him a round of coaxing first, then started talking to him about being a little man and all that.

“Our Dudu is a man. If you get bumped, you get bumped. Why are you crying?”

“Does it hurt here? Come, Daddy will rub it for you.”

“Little man, no more crying, no more crying.”

In the kitchen, while picking vegetables, Lin Ya heard the conversation in the living room and couldn’t help letting out a little laugh.

She quickly covered her mouth, but the smile at the corners of her eyes couldn’t be hidden.

Even though Liang Yuan was some distance away, with his astonishing 161 points of Spiritual Attribute, how could he not hear what was happening in the kitchen?

He couldn’t help feeling a bit embarrassed too.

Out there he was decisive in killing, stern and imposing, but once he came home to face his son, he was just an ordinary father.

The contrast really was surprising.

Liang Yuan couldn’t help giving the kitchen a glance.

That one glance, and he suddenly couldn’t move his eyes away.

He saw Lin Ya squatting on the floor picking vegetables, wearing a conservative pair of jeans. Her round, perky buttocks stretched the denim tight, making a man’s blood run hot.

Liang Yuan’s gaze lingered for a couple of seconds before he hurriedly looked away and coughed. “Lin Ya, I’ll take Dudu out for a bit. We’ll be back by dinnertime.”

Lin Ya looked up. “Sure, we’ll probably be able to eat in about half an hour.”

Liang Yuan smiled. “Okay.”

He took Liang Hong out, but the image that had just scorched his eyes kept flashing through his mind.

Half an hour later, Liang Yuan returned home.

Yang Mei had already come back as well.

Lately, she was coming over for almost every meal.

You should know, before Liang Yuan came back, she would basically only come back for breakfast and dinner.

No one knew whether she just really wanted to stay with Liang Yuan, or if she was worried about something.

Fortunately, in this half month, everything had been as usual, which made her let out a sigh of relief.

For lunch, it was just Liang Yuan, Yang Mei, Lin Ya, and Liang Hong eating together.

Song Wen and Dong Yan were both too busy and didn’t have time to come back for the meal.

The Agriculture Department was transplanting crops, and they were even trying every possible way to move the vegetation on the mountain—anything that could be moved, they planned to move.

After all, once Yangshan was flooded, these plants wouldn’t survive either.

“What about Yanyan? Why didn’t she come back to eat?” Yang Mei asked in confusion.

Liang Yuan smiled. “The ranch over at Jueyun Slope also has to be relocated. That huge herd of Mutant Beasts she’s raising all have to move with it, and there’s also the Mulberry Forest and the Fire Bamboo Forest—they all need her to oversee the transportation. She’s completely swamped right now.”

Hearing this, Yang Mei nodded slightly and said, “Sigh, do you think once the ice and snow melt, they’ll really flood Yangshan?”

Liang Yuan let out a sigh. “Hard to say, but I feel like it’s pretty much a sure thing.”

“Even if it’s not completely submerged, there won’t be much land left. Our mid-mountain location is definitely going to be underwater.”

Yang Mei looked around at everything in the house, a bit sentimental. “In the blink of an eye, it’s been almost two years.”

“One year of winter, one year of summer, even the seasons have changed.”

Liang Yuan said, “They’ve already started building a new complex over in the Mirage Snake Space.”

“A lot of the floodwater over there has been drained, and it can hold all the people and things from Yangshan. Don’t worry, nothing will really change.”

“When the ice layer melts, we’ll gather the other Floating Islands together. Our territory will be even broader then.”

Yang Mei nodded slightly.

Lin Ya had been feeding Liang Hong, and when she heard this, she couldn’t help asking, “The attributes of those Floating Islands are different—can they really be gathered together?”

Liang Yuan smiled. “Good question. The different attributes of the Floating Islands are just because each island has its own inherent attribute. In theory, they don’t interfere with each other.”

“And it’s not like we have to make them completely contiguous. We can keep some distance between them.”

“But based on my guess, there might be a certain repulsive force between these Floating Islands, so what the exact situation will be, we’ll have to wait and see when the time comes.”

What he said wasn’t baseless speculation.

Ever since Ling Yurong told him that after gene recombination, the next step was the Star God Realm—transforming into a Star Sky Giant Beast…

At that point, a Star Sky–grade Giant Beast wouldn’t just grow larger in size; it would also generate a Heart Core and a Brain Core.

Among these, the Star Sky Giant Beast could use its Heart Core to generate its own Gravity field, allowing it to achieve a form of movement in the silent void of space.

Since there was a Gravity field, Liang Yuan guessed that perhaps Floating Islands and Floating Islands in general relied on this kind of Gravity field to maintain their floating properties.

And if two Floating Islands were brought close together, they might not be able to fully connect because of repulsion between their Gravity fields.

So the plan to piece together many Floating Islands into a single supercontinent probably still had some issues.

The specific situation would have to be tested when the time came.

After eating, Liang Yuan and Yang Mei each went out.

As usual, Liang Yuan came to the Spiritual Power Gene Warning Device to cultivate.

Only this time, he had been cultivating for less than two hours when Zhuang Shuyuan’s anxious voice came from outside the door.

“Mr. Liang, something’s happened!”

Liang Yuan opened his eyes, frowning slightly.

Zhuang Shuyuan knew how to weigh priorities; she would never disturb him while he was cultivating.

So it had to be something urgent; otherwise she wouldn’t be in such a hurry.

He immediately opened the Cultivation Room door and looked at Zhuang Shuyuan.

He saw Zhuang Shuyuan in a White cheongsam standing at the door, her face full of urgency.

“What happened that has you this anxious?”

Liang Yuan asked quickly.

“News just came from the Floating Island. Kerry Technology on Hell Island had a large number of spacecraft enter the island today. It looks like they should be from the north.”

Liang Yuan’s eyes narrowed at once. He hadn’t forgotten that Kerry Technology had previously sent people to attack Yangshan.

After the last clash, both sides had held back. Yangshan hadn’t gone to question them, and they hadn’t continued to harass Yangshan.

But both sides knew very well that this grudge had been formed.

Liang Yuan needed time for the arms factory to produce more spacecraft.

And Kerry Technology on Hell Island had been waiting for support from their northern headquarters.

Now it seemed Kerry Technology’s reinforcements had finally arrived.

No wonder Zhuang Shuyuan had come to find Liang Yuan immediately.

Liang Yuan said at once, “Call all department executives for a meeting immediately.”

“And get a ship ready. I’m going to Flying Manta Island today.”

Liang Yuan quickly walked out of the Spirit Gathering Tower, and suddenly thought of something. “Also, start arranging the transfer of non-combat personnel.”

“We’ve more or less already moved everything from Yangshan that needs to be taken.”

“In the battles to come, the enemy will most likely attack Yangshan—this is our base camp.”

Zhuang Shuyuan nodded quickly and said, “I’ve already notified the relevant people to prepare for the meeting. As for transferring non-combat personnel, the navy fleet can begin transfers at any time.”

“We’re very close to the Mirage Snake Space here; it doesn’t take long to get there, so moving people will be quick.”

Liang Yuan nodded slightly. As they spoke, the two of them had already arrived at the Leader’s Mansion.

The leadership from all departments had already rushed over at the first moment.
