Apocalyptic Flood: Sexy Beauty Neighbor's Midnight Plea for Food

Chapter 1114: Chapter 459: Sudden Illness

Monsoon was originally a member of Phoenix Temple, one of the four early powers of Yangshan.

He, along with Han Ben and Wang Xiao, were once running errands professionally for Phoenix Temple.

All three of them are Speed Ability Users, and in the early days, they came to the Fire Bamboo Forest to trade Blast Arrows with Liang Yuan.

And it was him who was the contact person ordered by Director Hong to deliver the intel to Liang Yuan at that time.

After Liang Yuan unified Yangshan, many from Phoenix Temple joined Liang Yuan’s ranks.

After enduring labor, Monsoon and others gradually washed off the Phoenix Temple label and are now part of the Gale Camp command center in Yangshan, as a team captain.

Gale Camp is a team comprised entirely of Speed Type Superpower Users, specializing in reconnaissance, liaison, and intelligence transmission.

Seeing Monsoon so urgently arrive now, opening his mouth with ’Something’s wrong’,

this shocked Liang Yuan, who immediately asked, ”What’s going on?”

Monsoon looked anxious and quickly said, ”Mr. Liang, there may be an outbreak in the shelter, symptoms have been observed in dozens of people so far, Dr. Yang asked me to notify you immediately.”

Liang Yuan’s complexion changed suddenly, and Ding Yan, who was beside him, was also taken aback, ”What? Infectious disease?”

”What kind of infectious disease?” Liang Yuan hurriedly asked.

Monsoon quickly replied, ”Don’t know the cause, but infected people generally have a high fever, are jittery and fainting, and have relentless coughing. Some severe cases have lost consciousness.”

Liang Yuan quickly said, ”Take me to the medical department, what did Dr. Yang say over there?”

”I’m going too!” Ding Yan immediately followed.

As Monsoon led the way, he quickly said, ”Dr. Yang says this is a new type of infectious disease, unlike any disease before the apocalypse.”

”It should be related to mutated organisms.”

Liang Yuan frowned, related to mutated organisms?

He instantly knew the situation was troublesome, any disease related to mutated organisms wouldn’t be ordinary.

”Liang Yuan, could it be that some virus evolved too?” Ding Yan analyzed.

Liang Yuan shook his head slightly, ”I don’t know, I’m not familiar with medicine.”

”But your analysis isn’t without reason, animals and plants can evolve, there’s no reason a virus can’t.”

The three sprinted the entire way and quickly reached the medical department.

Just as Ding Yan was about to go inside, Liang Yuan suddenly paused and pulled her.

”Wait a minute.”

Ding Yan looked back puzzled, ”What’s wrong?”

”Ensure protection.”

Liang Yuan said deeply, immediately using his spiritual power to quickly form a Spirit Turtle Shield around himself.

With this, even if there really is a virus, it will have to break his Spirit Turtle Shield to infect him.

And with his current spiritual power level, ordinary viruses simply can’t break his Spirit Turtle Shield.

Seeing this, Ding Yan quickly activated her Empowerment Superpower, covering herself with a layer of energy as thin as a cicada’s wings, isolating her from the outside world.

Monsoon simply stayed outside without going in.

After making all the preparations, Liang Yuan and Ding Yan entered the medical department.

A considerable number of people had already gathered in the medical department, even Yang Mei was there.

Seeing this, Liang Yuan frowned deeply.

”Little brother, you’re here.”

Yang Mei quickly walked over.

Liang Yuan said deeply, ”Why are you here?”

Yang Mei said urgently, ”He Zi is infected, I’m a bit worried.”

He Zi is one of the two secretaries in her office and she has been relying on her heavily.

”It’s ridiculous! This is an infectious disease, gathering here only increases the risk of infection!”

”All unrelated personnel, go back immediately.”

Liang Yuan quickly scolded.

At this point, Li Xiangyang couldn’t help but say, ”Mr. Liang, Dr. Yang said we’ve been in contact with patients and there’s a chance we might be infected, so they’re not letting us leave casually.”

Liang Yuan suddenly stiffened, if Yang Shenmin said so, doesn’t that mean the disease is highly infectious?

Everyone here has strong capabilities, even they might get infected?

Liang Yuan immediately looked at Ding Yan and quickly said, ”Ding Yan, leave immediately, notify Old Ma’s construction department to urgently build quarantine cabins.”

Ding Yan quickly nodded and said in a low voice, ”You be careful.”

Liang Yuan grunted in response, pulling out many Spirit Turtle Shield Talisman Stones, and said solemnly, ”Everyone apply protection and avoid contact with each other.”

With that, he distributed the talisman stones, and everyone remembered to be self-protected and isolated.

Yang Mei also activated her Spirit Turtle Shield, looking somewhat uneasy, ”Little brother, is it really this serious?”

Liang Yuan said deeply, ”I’ll go in to check, you all wait outside for me.”

Saying this, he strode into the medical room’s inner ward.

Inside the ward was already crowded with people, some even without beds, just sitting on chairs.

Yang Shenmin and Tang Ying were busy, and many fully armed women were helping to bring in medicine.

Liang Yuan found Yang Shenmin, who was frowning as he felt a patient’s pulse.

Liang Yuan quickly opened his mouth to ask, ”Dr. Yang, what’s happening?”

Yang Shenmin looked up at Liang Yuan. He had already put on protective clothing and gloves, and had a transparent, spherical energy shield covering his head.

This was a type of Spirit Power Defense Shield, a skill developed from White Quality Talisman Stone.

Everyone helping here was equipped with such talisman stone energy shields.

”Mr. Liang, the situation is not good, I’ve never seen this virus before.”

”All infected patients fall ill quickly, with very little incubation period. They start showing fever and coughing within three days, and fainting occurs within five days. Once it reaches this point, there’s no way to treat it.”

”Unless they’re Superpower Users, ordinary people are basically declared dead after five days.”

Liang Yuan’s face was solemn as he quickly asked, ”Can we find the source of the infection?”

”I’ve already asked Tang Ying to inquire all the patients.”

Yang Shenmin said gravely, ”Most of these patients are from the port area, a few from the mining zone, and some from Meishan. However, there are very few cases from our Fire Bamboo Forest area.”

”From the distribution of patients’ residences, I highly suspect this is a virus from the floodwaters.”

”People at the port have long-term exposure to the floodwaters, increasing their chances of infection.”

”According to the investigation, most of them had consumed Mutant Fish before getting infected.”

”But because there were many varieties of Mutant Fish consumed, I can’t determine which specific fish is carrying the virus.”

Liang Yuan’s face turned grim as he said, ”The fish they ate are the common Mutant Fish near Yangshan. They’ve eaten them before, so why is there a virus infection now?”

Yang Shenmin was taken aback: ”This... I hadn’t thought of that. Do you mean it could be man-made?”

Liang Yuan shook his head: ”I’m just suspicious, no evidence yet, further investigation is necessary.”

Yang Shenmin quickly nodded and said, ”We need to investigate thoroughly.”

”However, the immediate concern is to quickly prevent people from contacting the pathogen. Stop consuming Mutant Fish temporarily to prevent further spread.”

”Additionally, we need to expedite research on the Healing Potion.”

Yang Shenmin quickly added.

Liang Yuan immediately asked, ”Is there a good solution?”

Yang Shenmin nodded: ”I currently have a treatment plan in mind that might be effective, but it requires experimentation.”

”Alright, if you need anything, let me know immediately. We must save these people,” Liang Yuan nodded promptly.

Liang Yuan didn’t ask about the plan’s details, leaving professional matters to the professionals.

”Alright, I’ll do my best.”

”I’ll leave this to you, and I’ll immediately take people to the port to investigate the infection source.”

The two discussed and Liang Yuan immediately left, while instructing Yang Mei and others waiting outside to be extremely cautious and not to leave temporarily.

On the other side, Liang Yuan directly gathered Zhao Kai, Song Wen, and other department leaders for an emergency meeting.

The main goal was to have each department promote stopping the consumption of Mutant Fish temporarily and for everyone to stay home in self-isolation to prevent cross-infection.

Under Liang Yuan’s orders, Yangshan’s execution speed was quick.

In almost an afternoon, everyone was in a standby situation at home.

Of course, this naturally also caused panic among many people.

But faced with the patrol team’s strong suppression, everyone still obeyed the higher-ups, staying at home.

At this moment, Liang Yuan, with Zhao Kai, Han Xiangman, Tu Long, and others, reached the port.

Just upon arriving at the port, Liang Yuan encountered Huang Han.

Huang Han’s eyes were slightly red, as if she had been crying.

Upon seeing Liang Yuan, she immediately cried, ”Mr. Liang, is there any news from Dr. Yang? My Golden Python is also infected.”

Liang Yuan’s expression turned sombre upon hearing this, ”The Golden Python is also infected?”

”Yes, it was fine a couple of days ago, but since yesterday it’s been listless. It won’t eat when I feed it.”

”I can feel it’s in distress, but I have no way to help it. Mr. Liang, please, you must save my Golden Python.”

As she spoke, she broke down, crying loudly.

After the doomsday, losing her family, Huang Han only had her pet Golden Python by her side.

Other people’s cats and dogs turned against their owners after mutating, some even devouring their owners.

Only her Da Huang, after mutating, did not turn bad, even going into the water to catch fish for her.

The relationship between Huang Han and her Golden Python was more than just a master and pet; they were family.

Liang Yuan comforted, ”Don’t worry, Dr. Yang has a treatment plan. Your Da Huang will be alright soon.”

”Have you noticed what it’s been eating lately?”

With reddened eyes, Huang Han sobbed, ”Da Huang eats a lot, usually going into the sea to find food by itself. Occasionally, I feed it some Red Chicken or Fire Bamboo Rat.”

”But mostly, it feeds on fish from the sea.”

Han Xiangman couldn’t help but say, ”With so many types of Mutant Fish in the sea, it’s hard to determine which fish carries the pathogen.”

Zhao Kai couldn’t hold back and said, ”Let’s catch the common Mutant Fish and inspect them one by one.”

Liang Yuan frowned; it was a clumsy method, but there was no better option at the moment.

At this moment, Huang Han suddenly said, ”Da Huang doesn’t eat just any fish; it prefers Red-eyed Silver Carp and mutant sardines, these small-sized Mutant Fish.”

”These fish are small, easy to swallow, and digestible.”

Upon hearing this, Liang Yuan’s eyes lit up, and he quickly said, ”Small fish, are you sure?”

”I’m sure. I’m very familiar with Da Huang’s eating habits,” Huang Han replied immediately.

Everyone exchanged glances. Han Xiangman quickly said, ”I’ll immediately mobilize all Water Ability Users to dive and collect small Mutant Fish samples.”

Liang Yuan nodded and said solemnly, ”Make sure everyone takes proper protective measures.”

”Understood!”

Han Xiangman immediately nodded and gathered many Water Attribute Superpower Users.

Everyone quickly went underwater to capture the Mutant Fish.

Liang Yuan looked at the undulating water surface, with turbulent waves below the floodwaters.

He had a persistent ominous premonition in his heart.

This epidemic came unusually!
